Bio

Hello! My name is Nelsy and I was born in Puerto Rico. I have tons of nicknames so you can just call me Nini or Ningning. I am a second-gen undergraduate. I am a humanities major with a concentration in Music. Unfortunately, because of tuition, I had to drop out of my dream college, USFCA, before even starting. And now I've been accepted at MTSU as a Music Business major. I would love to attend, but tuition is really high. Winning these scholarships would help me attend my dream college. I want to be an artist. I plan to impact people with everything I write. Because of that I also love learning new languages and even the slightest about different cultures. I want to help everyone because I know what suffering feels like. By all means, I want to be a safe space for everyone I meet. My taste in things varies all the time. For example, I love music and medicine which are two completely different things but are so special to me. In my free time, I read psychology tips so I can become a better person, and understand and help others. I also listen to music all the time. Whatever I listen to affects my mood so, one minute I might be dancing merengue, and the other staring at the window imagining a sad goodbye. Another thing I like to do is fight for what is right. I never let someone step on my loved ones or me. I am sincere and people get mad at me for that but for me, honesty is something that can help create a better version of yourself and a lot of opportunities. I want to make a name for myself. There is so much more to know about me, that even I am exploring.

    Femi Chebaís Scholarship
Become an artist that serves as an inspiration and opportunity creator. Create my own label where there’s everything artists needs. Become the person I always wanted to be; with my career and everything I do.
First-Year College Students: Jennie Gilbert Daigre Education Scholarship
Some people may say art doesn’t impact the world but I could say the contrary. It helped me through a lot and inspired me to go the extra mile. Nothing makes me happier than listening to music, performing, dancing, writing, or acting. Imagine your favorite artist describing your same situation in a song, how would that make you feel? That's how I would want my audience to feel when they see my work; when I transmit my energy to my work, I think that it’s just a different feeling for me and the ones listening or seeing it. As a writer, I plan to write about personal experiences that readers can relate to and understand my point of view. I plan to write on taboo topics like sexuality, assault, and more. As a singer, I will transmit my deepest and most sincere feelings into everything I write. No emotion will be blocked, I will stay true to myself and my audience. I know how much music can affect someone. I will make a song for every occasion, so whenever you want to cry, you cry. Whenever you want to dance to reggaeton, you do it. As an actress, I will learn to put myself in others' shoes. Doing this will help me get out of my shell and talk about things I wouldn’t talk about while being me. This will also help me communicate with others. And finally, as myself, I want people to realize that I’m just like them. That they can become whoever they want as long as they stay focused and love what they do. Doing all this while also helping myself, making me a better person and communicator. On the other hand, I also want people to know that being vulnerable and making mistakes is something we learn from, even though even I have a hard time admitting it. I take my role as an artist very seriously. I still have endless amounts of fun and awkwardness though; moreover, I plan to do everything in my power to make my audience happy and create a connection. And as I once read in an article; “Art is about connecting with people’s emotions. It’s personal and at the same time, universal.” I will spread positivity through my actions, words, and lyrics. It may sound repetitive but that’s what I want to fulfill in life and my main goal.
    Healthy Living Scholarship
To me, a healthy lifestyle is important because I want to be prepared for what the future has for me. I want to be able to maintain friendships and be on good terms with myself. Living a healthy life is something I’ve been working on for a while now. Mentally; I was lost and decided to get rid of everything and everything that was affecting me. Physically; I’ve been going to the gym for almost a month now! To be honest, the longest I’ve been. Ever since I started this new routine, I’ve been able to sleep early and better than before. Developing a healthy lifestyle has worked wonders for me and I’m very happy I decided to change the way I live my life. I’ve been feeling good about myself and becoming a motivation to others, which also helps my self-esteem and gives me motives to keep going. My future depends on me, if I’m not healthy, who’s going to be in charge of my future? I want to be able to impact many lives and that only depends on me. That’s why a healthy lifestyle is important to me and much more.
    Moriah Janae Dance Grant
I cannot remember a time when I wasn’t dancing, I’ve been doing it ever since I was a little girl. For most of my elementary years, I performed many times at talent shows. In middle school, I joined the cheerleading team. In high school I joined the theater club, specializing in dance, I really enjoyed it. In August, when I get to college, I’ll be either taking a major or minor in dance. The art of dancing is something so beautiful. However you do your presentation will be what you show to your audience. Everything matters when you’re dancing. Stage presence and confidence are two of the most important things, at least for me. If I don’t feel confident, I won’t perform well nor give the image I want to reflect to others. Even when I’m tired, I push myself to do better and execute everything perfectly. There have been times when I’ve almost passed out from dancing so extremely. With that I’ve taught myself to push myself a little bit more, just not exceeding the limit. Dancing makes me feel untouchable and like I have power over everything and myself. I can just flow and live the moment. I feel as if I was performing on stage and having the life I always wanted. I could say, that’s my secret to a good performance. What can I say? I even dance when I’m eating. I also dance when writing, whenever I’m feeling the music I’ll just stop, dance, and then go back to what I was doing. As I mentioned before, dancing made me push myself a bit more; making me gain self-discipline. It has also boosted my confidence and realize I am able to have control of my body. I’ve been getting better at feeling everything a song says and expressing it back to the public. It’s something I’m very proud of. Another lesson dancing has taught me is determination. I’ve gotten so much better at having more patience because eventually, I get to the point I want to be at. Besides the specialization I’ll be pursuing, I hope to join my college’s dance club and groups. I am also planning on opening my own dancing page on Instagram, something I was afraid to do before. I aspire to be a famous performer, known all around the world. Especially in Asia, the USA, and back home in Puerto Rico. I want to create a story with every movement I do and inspire others, to help them create their own story.
    Bold Speak Your Mind Scholarship
Others may be thinking the same thing as you. When speaking up, you are exhorting them to speak up as well. You are also showing the person you’re communicating with that you’re invested in the conversation. Ever since I started doing it, I’ve felt so much better about myself and more confident. On the other hand, some people don’t like me because I tell them the truth, sometime later they tell me sorry and that I was right. I prefer to stay true to myself than keep it to myself. You’ll never when know if it’s beneficial to speak up and how many opportunities it might give you. The most important thing is to time your words well, even if it’s your opinion, you don’t want to hurt someone else unless it’s for their good. Speaking up makes me feel connected to myself, I can say how I’m feeling or what I’m thinking out loud and immediately feel better. It is something I will always do, no matter the consequences.
    Bold Motivation Scholarship
My motivations push me forward even on a bad day. Some of these would be imagining my future, I am going to be a famous artist and be of motivation to my fans. Writing songs and creating new projects that can help others in whatever situation they’re in. I am also motivated by the thought that I will write music for and with my favorite artists that have also inspired me since childhood. I want to be the very best for them, my fans and myself. On the other hand, I am very motivated by success, every time I get something correct I get very happy and want to keep that streak. Weirdly enough I am also motivated by people that don’t like me. It motivates me to keep going because I know I’m doing something right, something that they want and envy. To be honest, I am motivated by a lot of stuff, it changes every day, but the main reasons will always be my future, myself, and music.
    Bold Happiness Scholarship
There’s a lot of things that make me happy. When I’m sad I just think about everything that makes me smile. Even a dream or a picture can make me the smile all day. My earliest experience would be; spending the night with the person I like laughing, counting stars and just being with them. The thing that makes me the happiest would be pretending everything I want to be in the future, an idol. Pretending I’m dancing, singing on stage and talking to my fans. Makes me think I’m manifesting my future and getting the most of it. I also love eye and mouth opening movies or songs, most of the time they make me realize and learn a lot of stuff. Some of them even shape the way I think and talk, which is really beneficial. From this I could also say learning new things makes me happy, when someone doesn’t know anything and asks you; when you know the answer to it, it makes you feel powerful. On the other hand, when I’m sad, shopping makes me really happy, even though I end up buying the whole store, it really makes me happy. To be honest, there’s a lot of things that make me happy like memories. It just depends on how I’m feeling and what I’m doing. Making me happy is really simple with the right things and people.
    Raymond Reggie Scholarship
Throughout the years I've had some small businesses. To be honest, probably since elementary school. They've been mostly jewelry, food, and things like that. My latest one, founded in 2020 is called Gabriellie's Gallery. Gabriellie is one of my nicknames, gallery comes from the word art gallery and my fashion group "Fashion Gallery". At the start of it, I was selling handmade glosses, jewelry, and other things. But lately, it has fallen out. Since I am moving to college soon, I've been selling photocards, albums, and some of my primary items. I am interested in entering the business field because I want to have my own business again in the future. This time I'm planning on opening an entertainment company where I scout idols, singers, models, and actors. On the other hand, I want more than that. I have so many ideas for future businesses, that's why I also am interested in this field. Taking courses will help me organize myself so I can have better planning and strategies. Some of my other ideas are a café, a psychiatry type of organization, perfume and makeup line, a clothing brand, and last but not least, a spiritual store where people meditate and buy their crystals and more. Even though I plan to take it as a minor, I hope to make the whole experience worth it. My father and grandpa taught me to work for everything and always be involved in the business world because it is beneficial for myself as well as my status and reputation. I hope to meet as many experienced people as I can and receive helpful tips from them. Business teaches you basic skills like organizing, starting up, how to start from scratch and so much more. These are all very important skills to have in life so people don't take you as a fool. In this industry, you can meet people with many strategies and perspectives from yours. I hope to gain even the slightest from every person I meet during this time to use it in the future. Like everyone, I do lack a bit of skill in certain areas. In business you need communication skills, I plan to become better at communicating, even though I have never had a problem with a customer, I want to become better. I am also very bad at math, surprisingly, I am very good at budgeting. I could say I'm very good at that. For this and many other reasons, I am interested in the business industry. I want to polish my skills and be better so I can make a name out of myself in the future.
