Bio

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan studying Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology on the pre-medical track with minors in Judaic Studies and Medical Anthropology. I am passionate about the intersection of medicine, research, and technology, with the goal of becoming a pediatric surgeon who improves patient care through innovation and compassion. My experiences range from clinical exposure in pediatrics to neurology to biomedical research studying metabolism and disease, as well as medical device research through Johnson & Johnson MedTech Electrophysiology, where I contributed to projects involving cardiac ablation technologies, lesion analysis, and CARTO data. Beyond science, I am committed to building communities. I serve in leadership roles within Phi Chi Pre-Medical Fraternity, Chi Omega, and Michigan Hillel, where I help create opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and connection among students pursuing healthcare and leadership.

    For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by the way a single moment can change the direction of someone’s life. Sometimes that moment is joyful: an acceptance letter, a new opportunity, or achieving something you once only dreamed of. Other times, it happens in a hospital room, when everything feels uncertain and a family is searching for answers. I hope to dedicate my life to being someone who can enter those difficult moments and bring knowledge, compassion, and hope. My dream of becoming a physician has never come from wanting a title. It comes from my love for people, their stories, and the privilege of helping them through moments they never expected to face. This is especially true in pediatrics. Children represent possibility. They are future artists, teachers, scientists, parents, and leaders who have entire lives waiting ahead of them. No child should ever feel that a diagnosis defines who they are or limits who they can become. At the University of Michigan, studying Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology has shown me how extraordinary the human body is, but my experiences outside of the classroom have taught me why that knowledge matters. Science becomes meaningful when it reaches the person behind the disease. During my neurology internship, I learned this lesson through the patients and families I met. I saw that while test results and treatment plans are essential, the moments patients remember are often much smaller: a doctor taking extra time to explain something, a family feeling listened to, or someone offering reassurance when everything feels overwhelming. Medicine is built on science, but healing is built on connection. My time in research and at Johnson & Johnson MedTech Electrophysiology expanded my understanding of how many people contribute to improving a patient’s life. While working with cardiac ablation technologies, lesion analysis, and medical device research, I saw that behind every data point is a person hoping for more birthdays, more family dinners, and more ordinary moments that suddenly become extraordinary when health is threatened. It reminded me why innovation matters: because the end goal is always a person. Outside of medicine, my greatest fulfillment has come from creating communities where others feel supported. Through Phi Chi Pre-Medical Fraternity, Chi Omega, and Michigan Hillel, I have worked to create spaces of mentorship and belonging. These experiences have taught me that giving back is not something that starts after reaching a goal. It is a responsibility we carry throughout the journey. The people who inspire me most are those who use what they have learned to make life easier for someone else: physicians who fight for their patients, researchers who pursue unanswered questions, and mentors who help others believe they belong. They remind me that success means very little unless it is shared. I hope to use my education to become a physician who combines curiosity with compassion and innovation with humanity. I want to continue learning, researching, advocating, and most importantly, listening. Because at the center of every discovery, every treatment, and every advancement is someone hoping for another chance. My goal is to spend my life helping provide those chances.

    My world changed when I received my first guitar for my sixth birthday. It was a beautiful mahogany six-string, and this instrument would become my creative outlet. My dad, a musician himself, passed down his musical talents and instilled in me the importance of having a way to express creativity. Music holds a profound place in my life, serving as a bridge that connects me to both my inner self and cherished memories with my father. Over the years, my dad has played a pivotal role in guiding my musical interests and nurturing my creativity. Through his thoughtful gifts of lessons for various instruments – cello, ukulele, piano, mandolin, 12-string guitar, and bass – he ignited not just a musical journey but a broader exploration of creativity. My guitar journey with him began on November 24, 2011, marking my sixth birthday, and our musical exploration has been a continuous journey since. Our weekly jam sessions, lasting at least an hour, have become a source of relaxation and a platform for fostering creativity. I've learned to read music, play to a tempo, and quickly adapt and discovered the boundless potential for creativity within every note. Music is more than a melody – it's an ongoing journey of creativity, learning, and the harmonies that resonate through the corridors of our shared experiences. In high school, my music appreciation deepened as I developed a love for analyzing song lyrics and understanding the essence behind the melodies. I found that the true meaning of a song lay in its melody and the emotions conveyed through the music. Listening to instrumental versions of songs became a way for me to escape the highs and lows of high school, creating a world that transported me away from reality. The abilities I've honed through music have profoundly shaped other aspects of my life. Whether I'm at the softball plate, relying on timing and tempo, solving intricate math problems by thinking creatively or navigating internships that involve basic surgical procedures—where precision, adherence to schedule, and adaptability are essential—I find the echoes of my musical experiences seamlessly woven into diverse facets of my journey. In my future career as a medical doctor, whether solving complex medical problems or performing surgeries, the ability to think quickly on my feet and adapt to any change is imperative. Creativity is essential for a surgeon: if something goes wrong on the operating table, if treatment begins to fail, or even if a patient offers an intriguing question.
