Bio

⸻ My goal in life is to become a nurse who not only provides medical care, but also makes a real difference in people’s lives during some of their most difficult moments. I want to be the kind of nurse who helps patients feel safe, respected, and supported while also delivering high-quality care that improves their health and well-being. What I am most passionate about in nursing is the opportunity to care for people directly and positively impact their lives. Nursing is more than a career to me—it is a way to serve others, show compassion, and be a source of strength for patients and their families. I am especially motivated by the idea of working in a fast-paced environment where I can continuously learn and grow while helping others heal. I believe I am a strong candidate for this scholarship because I am hardworking, focused, and committed to becoming a nurse. I have done well in school, especially in subjects like science and math, and I am dedicated to preparing myself for the challenges of nursing school. I actively seek opportunities to learn more about the medical field and build the skills I will need for my future career. This scholarship would help me continue my education and bring me closer to achieving my goal of becoming a nurse who provides compassionate and meaningful care to every patient I serve

As a future nurse, I want to help people understand that nutrition is not just about dieting or trying to lose weight—it is a major part of overall health, energy, and disease prevention. Many health problems, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease, are strongly influenced by daily eating habits. I want to be the kind of nurse who helps patients see that small, realistic changes in their diet can make a real difference in how they feel and how they live. One of the main ways I plan to improve patients’ nutrition and overall health is through simple education. A lot of people are given medical advice that feels too complicated or overwhelming, so I want to explain things in a clear and relatable way. Instead of focusing on strict diets, I will encourage small steps like drinking more water, reducing sugary drinks, eating more fruits and vegetables, and choosing balanced meals when possible. I believe that when advice is practical, patients are more likely to actually follow it. Another important step I will take is helping patients understand how to read and use nutrition labels. Many people do not realize how much sugar, sodium, or processed ingredients are in everyday foods. By teaching them how to identify healthier options at the grocery store, I can help them make better decisions even outside of the hospital or clinic. I also believe that nutrition advice should fit into a person’s real life. Everyone has different cultural backgrounds, financial situations, and schedules, so I will always try to offer suggestions that are realistic and respectful of those differences. Instead of telling someone what they “shouldn’t” eat, I want to focus on what healthier options they can add to their current lifestyle. In addition, I plan to lead by example by promoting healthy habits in my interactions with patients. Building trust is important in nursing, and when patients feel supported rather than judged, they are more open to making changes. I also hope to collaborate with dietitians and other healthcare professionals so that patients who need more detailed guidance can receive full support. Overall, my goal as a future nurse is to combine care, education, and encouragement to help people improve their nutrition in a way that feels achievable. I want to empower patients to take small steps that lead to long-term health improvements, better habits, and a higher quality of life.

I moved from Nigeria to the United States when I was nine years old. This was a change for me. Everything was the school, the people, even the way I had to act to fit in. I had to learn to adjust to all these things quickly while also trying to figure out who I was in this new place. My family was struggling with money problems at the time. As a kid I could see that we did not have much. Things are still not great for us now.. These experiences taught me a lot about being responsible and making sacrifices. Growing up in a situation made me grow up faster. I knew that I would not get anything easily. I had to work hard for everything. Seeing my family keep going no matter how hard things got really stayed with me. They never gave up. That is something that has become a part of who I am. It made me more determined to make the most of any chance I got no matter how small it seemed. I tried to make the most of what I had. I worked hard in school to keep my grades up because I knew that education was one of the ways I could make a better life for myself. I also played sports, which gave me another way to challenge myself and grow. It was not always easy to balance school and sports. There were days when I was very tired or felt overwhelmed. I kept going. These experiences taught me a lot about being disciplined managing my time and staying focused when things got tough. They also taught me how to lead, support others and stay committed to something than myself like my family and my community. Now I am about to graduate. This means a lot to me. It represents all the work, sacrifice and growth I have been through. Now I am looking for a scholarship so I can continue my education and also help my parents. They have been under a lot of pressure trying to provide for us. I want to be able to give back to them and support them. My goals are not about me. I want to build a future where my family does not have to struggle like we have been. Being an immigrant has changed the way I look at life. It taught me how to adapt to situations stay strong when things are tough and keep pushing forward. It taught me to appreciate every opportunity and never take anything for granted. I know where I came from. I am focused on where I am going. My journey, as an immigrant has shaped me into someone who is driven, resilient and ready to create a future for myself and my family.
