My interests include installing mobile audio equipment, autobody paint and refinishing, welding and mechanic work including engine and suspension. Most recently, I have developed an interest in CNC Machining. As I get closer to graduation, I have realized the one factor of all my interests revolves around cars and trucks.
I love working on cars and fixing them up. It has quickly become a passion of mine. Even though I haven’t focused on one particular segment of the automotive industry, I think having a well-rounded knowledge base in this field will set me up for success. This passion stems from my family background. My dad is an automotive and diesel mechanic. My brother is currently attending SAM Tech to focus on performance engines and CNC Machining. My oldest brother is into engineering and construction with heavy equipment. All of these things have fueled my passion for learning and has helped me gain hands-on experience along the way.

For most of my High School journey, I had no idea what I wanted to do after I graduated. I have thought about my interests so I can pinpoint an area that I feel would benefit me as I transition into college. My interests include installing mobile audio equipment, autobody paint and refinishing, welding and mechanic work including engine and suspension. Most recently, I have developed an interest in CNC Machining. As I get closer to graduation, I have realized the one factor of all my interests revolves around cars and trucks.

My oldest brother is into engineering and construction with heavy equipment. All of these things have fueled my passion for learning and has helped me gain hands-on experience along the way.
Throughout high school, I have taken courses in Basic Collision Repair and Refinishing, Automotive Basics, Paint and Refinishing, Ag Mechanics and Practicum in Entrepreneurship. In Ag Mechanics, I built a BBQ Pit and showed it at the Angelina County Fair, winning a blue ribbon. The project included welding, fabrication, woodwork, and painting. With Practicum in Entrepreneurship, I was able to go to work as part of my class workload. I work for Diboll ISD in the maintenance and custodial departments.
Working for Diboll ISD, has taught me the importance of teamwork, as well as, cleaning, maintenance and basic repairs. School districts struggle to find help in these areas. Not only is my work helping the district, but also helping me gain valuable experience. I have learned how to strip and wax floors, burnish floors, proper cleaning techniques with custodial. In maintenance, I have done some plumbing repairs, foundation work and painting. I feel that working while you are a youth helps to build character, responsibility and time management skills.
I dream of owning my own car repair business one day. I want it to be a place where I can show off my skills and provide community service by helping people fix their cars. I believe that going to college will help me accomplish this dream. Having high aspirations of owning my own business, will keep me motivated.
My dad works for Diboll ISD as the Director of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation. He also has his own shop as a side business. My brothers and I have all helped in the shop, spending many hours working on car projects with our dad. With the knowledge my brother and I will gain from attending college, we have discussed combining our abilities to open a larger and more advanced business for the automotive industry. We will take what we’ve learned and build upon what our dad started.
I graduated in May from Diboll High School with plans to attend Angelina College and major in Automotive. I will be solely responsible for my education. I hope to financially fund my education with the help of scholarships. I appreciate your consideration and look forward to what the future holds.

Most recently, he has worked on a project to divert a river in Louisiana to help alleviate flood zones. He will soon be moving to another project in Texas to help with the Port of Galveston cargo improvements. All of these things have fueled my passion for learning and has helped me gain hands-on experience along the way.

My dad works for Diboll ISD as the Director of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation. He also has his own shop as a side business. My dad is the main reason for my passion in cars and trucks. His hard work and dedication over the years is a huge inspiration to me. My brothers and I have all helped in the shop, spending many hours working on car projects with our dad. With the knowledge my brother and I will gain from attending college, we have discussed combining our abilities to open a larger and more advanced business for the automotive industry. We will take what we’ve learned and build upon what our dad has started.
Volunteering your time in the community is also very important. I have volunteered for our school district community event at Christmas. The school district and city comes together and provides free activities and food for the community. My mother works for the school district as the Child Nutrition Supervisor and the district covers the cost of food provided. Parents, students and the entire community could come by and pick up a cup of soup at our last event. Lots of school groups and departments participate to make it the biggest event of the year. The High School band performs Christmas music. A Christmas movie is played on a big screen with free popcorn provided. Different school groups provide activities such as cookie decorating, writing letters to Santa, and so much more. I have always enjoyed helping with set up, student activities and clean up.
I will graduate in May from Diboll High School with plans to attend Angelina College and major in Automotive and CNC Machining. Realistically, I know that I will be looking for a long-term career with the intent to save up enough money to fulfill my dream of owning my own shop. Even if that means combining resources with my older brother to make that happen. My brother and I have discussed our options of opening a business together. The knowledge we can bring to the table from attending different schools, but similar paths could push us down a track to be better than any of our competition in the automotive industry.
I will be responsible for my education and tuition. I hope to financially fund my education with the help of scholarships. Majority of my tuition will be paid out-of-pocket from working a part-time to full-time job. My parents are willing to assist as much as they are capable, but money is limited due to them having two sons in college. So, my goal is to pay for college on my own as much as I possibly can to avoid putting a burden on my family. With the help of your scholarship, it would be one step in that direction. Thank you and I appreciate your consideration and look forward to what the future holds.
