After seeing first hand what a difference a passionate nurse can make in a patient’s healing process, I knew that nursing was my path. I am currently in the process of getting my bachelors degree in nursing and working in an emergency department as a patient care tech to gain experience.

From the time I as in kindergarten, until fourth grade, my father had an undiagnosed brain stem lesion. He was in and out of many different hospitals before he passed away and in each of these hospitals, my family encountered some amazing nurses. We also were faced with some difficult nurses who did not make us feel comfortable or safe leaving my father in their care. The great nurses inspired me to be the best nurse I could be, to attend to not only the patient but the family as well, and also to advocate to the best of my ability. The nurses who did not perform to the best of their abilities for my father also encouraged me to become a nurse because I want to be one of the good ones; a nurse that is passionate about her patients and will do everything in my power to make my patients feel safe, comfortable and like my priority.
