The Community I've grown up in has impacted me in several ways. First is how shy I am. When we first moved to Reedsport I was very shy. I stayed inside to read every weekend and was not outgoing. I stayed home with my parents when the weekend would hit or after school. I didn't have any friends and didn't participate in any after-school events. But that all changed when I moved to Reedsport Oregon. The first few weeks living in Reedsport I was more involved at school than ever before. I made friends at school who lived within my neighborhood and hung out with them after school. I had more friends at school than ever before. I also got involved in sports. I ended up loving it and made even more friends. I became more outgoing after living here for a few years and got better at talking to people and starting conversations. This helped me build my self-esteem and my family became established in the area and fit in better. By the time I reached middle school, I knew I wanted to attend college and play sports. Some people in the area found it very ambitious when I was so young that I knew I wanted to go to college. But I didn't think so a lot of people want to go to college from a young age I didn't see why this was weird. When I started high school I still had many of the same goals. I didn't know for a long time what I wanted to get a degree in but knew I still wanted to go to college. I have always been very interested in sports ever since I started. Especially running which was always my biggest sport interest, I was also very good at it. There were not very many girls to run with since our school is so small but that did not stop me from having fun and building friends on the team. I have gone to state for track, several years in a row. I think this would not have happened if I hadn't moved here when I was so young. But growing up picking a degree has always been challenging. You are supposed to know what you want to be when you grow up. You are supposed to decide by the time you a junior and put your plans into action your senior year. But that's not how it was or still is for me. I am interested in becoming a nurse. But who knows that could change and I'm okay with still leaving options open and seeing what my real interests are in college. So moving I would say made me less shy, more sporty, and unsure of which major will be for me.
