I am pursuing a career in nursing because I am a natural caregiver. I remember as a little girl I would make these make-shift bandages out of paper towels and duck tape whenever someone was injured. I grew up extremely poor so we did not have money to spend on proper first aid materials. My whole life I have always had a passion for caring for people in need and feeling like this is what I was meant to do. The Pediatric/Labor and Delivery field caught my attention when I had my son in February of 2020. My pregnancy was seemingly normal until about week 32, I began to have pre-term labor contractions and my amniotic fluid was leaking so things were getting very stressful. I was able to deliver at 35 weeks due to the great work by my doctor and nurses who were there to support me. I had two nurses who stayed by my side 24/7 and would talk to me, give me tips, and made me feel calm when things were high stress. To this day, I would not have had the experience I did if it was not for those two nurses who went above and beyond for me and my little boy. That is when I knew this is where I am meant to be. It is when I knew I could be that for so many other women and children in need.
