Life is the way you live and how you live. In life most people want to be successful and most people want to live happily. In order for you to do that you have to keep a positive attitude and always do right. You should set goals of things you want to accomplish in life and then go for them. I want to be successful so in order for me to achieve that goal I would have to be a positive person inside and out. Life is only what you make it, if you make it miserable then it will be miserable, if you make it happy then you would live a great life. Manifesting in your future is a great way to start. Keeping positive thoughts of the things in your life and conquering those goals are the best way to live a great life. Be you and be happy and you will live a great life.

I believe that over the years the social justice movement has made an great impact. Voting and Health care are two major movements alive today. We as a community are able to vote for the things we want, we are able to speak our opinions and be heard. Health care helps benefits us because we have emergency services, hospitalization, maternity and newborn care, medication, mental health services and ambulatory patient services. These are all types of different services that help us in the community. They help keep us safe and healthy. Without them we wouldn’t be anywhere we would be losing lives all over. The racial injustice movement has also had a great outcome. We as a community are coming to our senses that despite your color or race we are all together as one. The community has now come together to make things happen. Before this movement people were being separated because of their color. Now that we as a community has spoken up we now have people who came together and decided to make a change. People work together, kids play together, go to school together and help each other. This impact has definitely made not just the community but even society a better place. Another movement is the LGBTQ movement, this movement has impacted the people affected and helped them come out and not be judged. Just like the racial movement people began to stick together and see outside of race and gender. Regardless of your skin color or if you go by girl or boy we should all treat each other equal. This movement made the community a better place and people learned to treat everyone the same. Because of this movement you don’t see as many kids being bullied or people being put down because of their gender and how they feel. I can say that the social justice movement all together has made a greater impact across the whole world not just my community. Having this movement was the best thing that could happen. People now live freely despite their differences and now have more options and advantages. We can live safer and be taken care of the proper way. When you are hurt or sick you can be taken care of with the right treatment. When you want to vote for your president you have that opportunity open for you to state your opinion. I can say that my community can live freely and happy.

Unfortunately we all go through hard times and challenges, I have experienced misfortune throughout my life and it changed me for the better. When I was thirteen I was in horrible ATV accident that could’ve costed me my life. I broke my right leg and suffered from a concussion. I was told by the doctors that I wasn’t going to be able to play soccer anymore. I knew that because I had God on my side that things could turn out better and I wanted to prove those doctors wrong. I began to walk again and I began to go to therapy. After a year I was moving on my own and slowly getting my strength back. I started slowly practicing with the ball and I ended up playing in my teams playoff game. I knew that if I didn’t give up on myself and have hope I could be back on my feet. I proved those doctors wrong and I overcame a terrible accident that could’ve been ten times worse. Throughout my life I’ve been through difficult times not just my accident. Adversity is something you have to beat, you have to overcome it. I used to struggle in school and my grades weren’t always the best but I began to get help and my grades started to come up. Not everything in life has a bad outcome but if you have home you will get through it. As I get older I hope to accomplish my goals and give back to my community. Growing up I had people around me who supported me and helped me get through things in life. My teachers who helped me through school, my friends and family who supported me at my games and my family who’s been there for me through the tough times. I feel like the best way to show I appreciate them is to give back. I want to show love to the younger generations as well. I plan to donate to the schools in my community so that the kids can have a better learning environment and better equipment for them to learn with. I also want to give back to the less fortunate people who may not have as much. It doesn’t have to be a lot but even just a little will help those who are in need. I want to make a fundraiser for family’s suffering from cancer. I believe that everyone deserves to live life and if I can help just one person and save lives then that is what I’ll do.

I am the perfect blend. My name is Naiya Hogg. I am a 17-year old high school senior and the product of two great races. My mother is Hispanic, born in the great state of Texas and my father is African-American, born in Richmond, Indiana. Texas and Indiana came together when my parents met at a New Year’s Eve party and my father courted my mother to marriage. A few years later I came along. My bi-racial journey has not been the easiest but I was raised to be myself and to identify with whatever nationality I chose. My hair is course, my eyes are brown and my skin is light. I have Hispanic friends, African-American friends and a few white friends. I sense that my Hispanic friends see me differently because I don’t dress like them or act like them. My hair doesn’t look like theirs and I don’t interact fully Latino. I sense my African-American friends see me differently because I look Hispanic, my skin is lighter than theirs, my hair is course and I don’t act like them. There was a time period when I tried to identify with each group to find my belonging. I no longer try to fit in with one group or the either. I have friends of all races and I get in where I fit in. I attend Hispanic events, eat Hispanic foods, attend ethnic events, eat soul food, listen to country, rap, hip-hop, Mexican music. It can be difficult for a person of mixed race to identify with one group and be accepted by all but I’ve learned that I don’t have to. My parents have never steered me in one direction or another and I’m grateful for that. They have allowed me to be me and exposed me to both cultures and the world. Is it more difficult for mixed race children to find friends and feel a sense of belonging? Yes, but it doesn’t have to be. Be you, find what motivates you, be happy no matter your background and most of all do good things always. I aspire to be someone that can guide or assist anyone else who is struggling or doesn’t know how to navigate their way through bi-racial society.

I am 17 years old and I am currently a senior in High School. I play soccer and I am in cosmetology school. I look forward to going to college and pursuing my dream of being a lawyer. I have so many goals in life that I want to accomplish. I was 16 years old when I lost a loved one due to drunk driving. I never took it serious until it happened to someone close to me. I lost a friend of mine. She was on her way to college when a drunk driver crossed the median and hit her full on. Drunk driving is not something you want to experience. Not only does it effect your life but the other lives around you. When you drink and drive you increase your risk of killing yourself or some one around you. People deal with drunk driving everyday and it is very common I believe that it is something that can happen to anyone. You could be driving safe and going the speed limit but because someone was careless enough to drink and get on the road you could still lose your life. I don’t associate with drinking because I know that bad things can happen when you do but some people take drinking as a joke. Losing someone close to me hurt me and knowing that it happened so fast to someone so careless hurts even more. It isn’t worth losing a life but most people won’t understand til it happens to them. Innocent people are involved in these situations and it’s not fair to them. These accidents can impact peoples lives and scar them. They have to live everyday knowing they lost someone they lived to a situation that wasn’t worth it. I am 100% against drunk driving and I wish there was something we could do about it. I am so blessed to not have been involved in one of the tragic accidents but I still deal with the fact of losing someone else and it honestly hurts. Those who have lost lives had dreams and goals just like me but because of another persons decisions they didn’t get to live their life. Imagine wanting grow up and be someone and all of that just goes away. You hurt your family, your friends and the people who genuinely care about you. Regardless if you live through a drunk driving accident you still have to deal with the consequences for the matter that you caused. Knowing that you killed some one and hurt other people will hurt you as well. You would suffer the consequence with your dreams being thrown away all over a careless mistake.

Living in a world with many different aspects, society will only get bigger. I believe that with the different mindsets and generations society will only expand. I think that because of people wanting to pursue that healthcare dream we will have a large amount of doctors and nurses for people to go to. Having more healthcare workers will help today’s society, people are dying due to violence and unknown cures. With more doctors with different knowledge could help us all. I also think that with COVID being a huge impact we can find more cures and save society. If there are more nurses and doctors the chances of people losing their lives should decrease. Also with the production of technology and transportation we would have more opportunity. For those who have a hard time finding jobs technology and transportation could help in both aspects. Society wouldn’t be as lazy and they would more likely be successful. People use transportation and technology everyday now just imagine if that were to expand, society would be back on their feet. Having technology can be both bad and good. Overall technology will help people find jobs across the nation and positions they can pursue. Having transportation like cars, buses and trains will play a part by helping us fulfill those jobs and opportunities. More transportation and more technology would be great. If we were to have more schools and educations facility’s society would have a huge change. Kids today are getting into trouble and not focusing on the goods things, but with more schools kids would learn more and have a higher chance of being successful. If kids were in schools instead of doing other things that would prevent bad things from happening. We should normalize kids going to school to graduate and get their degree to be successful in life. If society went to school and completed their education we would have more leaders around the world which would make that “big” change in society. There are many different ways to change society. Society will forever change and it could be good or bad. These ways can play a huge factor on our lives and I 100% agree with them. We want society to change and be better but without those mindsets we won’t get there. We need more ways for opportunities and better mindsets to get there.

I have been fortunate enough not to have lost a close family member or loved one however the loss of a close friend affected me greatly and changed my mindset. Over the years i’ve spent my days running from my problems. I’ve learned a lot since I lost my friend but I figured out that life comes with ups and downs and eventually you have to move on. I know that if my friend was here he would want to see me graduating high school and going to my dream college. He would have been proud of me. I told myself that I was going to accomplish those goal for him and that I was going to stay strong and make it. There were plenty of times where I broke down and just wanted to give up but I always thought of what he would say if I gave up. Everyday I keep myself motivated that one day I will make it and one day I will make someone proud. Life will come with obstacles you just have to find your way out of them and sometimes things like this happen to only make you stronger and wiser. I believe this happened for a reason now it’s my turn to make the best out of it.
