Bio

As a first-generation college student, I have a strong drive to learn and constantly be the best version of myself — personally and professionally. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering at San Jose State University, where I recently attained my Bachelor’s degree. While at SJSU, I’ve focused extensively on my professional development honing essential soft skills such as communication and leadership through my involvement with the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) and the Bay Area Biomedical Device Conference. From 2021 to 2023, I held a leadership position on the executive board to help my peers step out of their comfort zones and develop as young professionals. With the help of my peers, I successfully headed the 2022 and 2023 Bay Area Biomedical Device Conferences, a forum for students to learn about the latest advancements in medical devices and technologies from industry professionals. After graduating, I decided to pursue a Master's degree to continue my education and gain greater insight into the discipline. I am interested in pursuing a career in medical devices and aim to make my way into project management. By entering the medical device industry, I hope to be able to contribute to the development of cutting-edge technologies with a focus on making these devices accessible to underrepresented communities. Beyond being a student, I am a mother and do my best to balance academics with being a parent; however, college is expensive, and although I have loans I want to reduce the financial burden on my family.
