My name is Naba Khan. I am a first-generation Pakistani Muslim American. In 2022, I'll be the first woman in my family to go to college. I've faced the challenges of wearing a hijab in America for 2 years. I've got a passion for the medical career. I want to have my own clinic and private practice, offering affordable medical care to low-income families as well as families without health insurance. I also hope to one day write and publish a novel. I'm the oldest of four siblings and strive to be an inspiring role model to my family as well as my peers. I'm the president and founder of a cosmetology club at my school, as well as the co-founder of a FIDM fashion club. Some of my boldest moments have included activism outside of school as I am a proud feminist. I am a STEM student and am in the process of receiving a Capstone degree along with my high school degree. I was a teacher-assistant at my Sunday school for a year. I'm a survivor of major depressive disorder and one of my proudest achievements is making a full recovery. I have straight A's in 3 AP and 2 Dual classes (plus others). I come from a low-income family. Both of my parents are immigrants and only my father works. I've grown up with the knowledge that college will be a fantasy without substantial scholarships. I hope to make college and medical school my future reality!
