As someone who grew up as a low-income minority surrounded by fellow low-income minorities, pursuing a college education and obtaining a career has always been a dream of mine. My dream career is to be a speech therapist to help non-verbal kids, people with speech impediments, and even people who just want to fix their foreign accent. While loans and debt lay down a heavy weight on many graduates today evident from the student debt crisis in America, receiving scholarships will help ease the worry of how I'm going to pay off the education I'm pursuing. Not only will this bring great relief to myself but to my family as well knowing that the financial burden has been relieved somewhat. It was the same financial burden that prevented me from attending a four year university as I hoped to in Fall of 2021 that resulted in me continuing my further education at my local community college; however I am extremely grateful this happened as this has helped me connect more with students who experience the same struggle as me. I would make an excellent candidate because I'm a hard working student that balances work and school life while still helping my family. This shows that I am organized with my time and maintain a well kept schedule. As mentioned previously, receiving scholarships will help relieve a lot of stress on not only me and my family. The help I receive now will be paid off in the future helping those in my community as a Speech therapist.
