Bio

Hi I'm Mya, ever since I was a child I knew I wanted to become a teacher. Now that I am pursuing my education degree I couldn't be any more excited. Im interested in teaching in elementary schools but I have thought about the high school level. I'm currently placed at an elementary school and gaining my observation hours there. College is expensive and it shouldn't be! I I want to graduate knowing that i have little debt to worry about and fully focus on my teaching career!

I'm passionate about becoming a teacher because I remember how much I loved going to school in elementary and knowing right then that this is what I want to do. I've had plenty of "opportunities" to change my mind throughout high school but I couldn't picture doing another job and actually loving it. My junior year of high school I was in a ready, set, teach internship and loved every minute of it. I was able to observe the classroom and teach a lesson. Now that I am a junior in college I'm able to observe for 40 hours each semester and I've fallen in love all over again. I was able to make connections and really bond with my first graders in the fall. They were all so eager to see me It made me excited to see them too. I remember already meeting my 40 hour observation requirement and continuing to come anyways. I've bonded with my cooperating teacher and the staff in the school and it already feels like a home. I would like to be able to inspire my students. I would want them to enjoy not only coming to my classroom but also coming to school. I want them to gain the knowledge that they will need to be successful in both the classroom and the real world. I would want my classroom to be a safe space for my children, especially since I'll be with them for eight hours. I would want my students to feel the way that I felt walking down the hallways of my elementary school. I want to see their smiling faces and listen to their very curious questions. I would love to see their progress from the beginning of the school to the end. Education is important to me because knowledge is power. As a college student I am still learning things and gaining useful information. The world has been through so much and it is important to know about these things so that we don't repeat ourselves. It is important to know how to write proper sentences. It is important to know about our history. It is important to know that 2 plus 2 is 4. It is important to know as much as we possibly can. It is important that there is someone there to teach these students, and I plan on being one of those people.
