When you first open your eyes the breeze of the ocean hits you as you wake up and open your window to the beautiful Puerto Rican sunrise. Right on the shores of the little island Vieques, the land where you grew up. You walk out and touch the sand of La Playa Escondida, it means hidden just like the special feeling of paradise you have when you look at your dream house. 3 story Mediterranean inspired home. I imagine waking up on the top floor with the humongous window that that’s over the wall to bask in the sun that shines from the shore. My room filled with all the shells and artifacts from my trips and from each beach I visit, the connection of the ocean is brought in every room, gigantic walk-in closet with all the clothes of my dream vacations and designers that have shaped my love of fashion. As I walk to the balcony of my room it is off white cream paint with blue tiles azuelo tiles, inspired by the cultural design of the bridges in Portugal. I walk to the second floor filled with 7 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. Having a dream house means having the dream of all my family and friends being there with me, wether it’s one night or a month, I want my space to be for them too since they are the greatest support and truly make a place a home. Each room is unique inspired by the places I wish to visit. One inspired by the Antoni Gaudi, the famous Barcelona architect. The one that opened your eyes to the beauty of buildings, the way color and shapes could create an artistic experience. Other rooms inspired by African art and history. Giving a reminder of your roots and the beautiful display of black art. I walk down the opera style staircase or slide down the spiral light blue slide and see your kitchen and living room. The kitchen is decorated in green marble, colorful plates and pans, an explosion of greenery and color and a reminder of the nature that the Earth has. The sunlight brand from the bamboo windows as you look to the plants that grown next to them. I walk across to the living room with a couch pit like the 70s to inspire connection and gathering and creates of space of family. Everyone can sit down, sleep, talk and rest in every space. The walls are decorated in bamboo and wood flooring. I go out back to your shed where I can work on surfboards as I try to learn how to control the waves. I walk on the rock steps to the pool that goes across the back of the house, saltwater pool with jacuzzi, orange and white seats to tan, palm tree beach umbrellas, and a grill to have a space for a cookout. Every space is made to gather. Finally as I walk 10 steps and place your foot in the sand, I can truly see from the warm brown wooden roof, natural fauna that grows beautiful native flowers, gorgeous white exterior, coconut trees that surround the sides of the house and the view of open water filled with life. This is truly my dream house.
