Ryan Stripling “Words Create Worlds” Scholarship for Young Writers
Writing has always provided me with a unique space for freedom of expression, where I can choose to share my thoughts with the world or keep them entirely to myself. I still fondly remember my elementary school days, particularly the excitement around diaries, especially the ones from Justice. I received one for my birthday and wrote about my daily experiences, whether they were filled with joy or marked by challenges. To this day, I still have one of those diaries from elementary school, along with several journals I've collected over time.
It was during middle school that I truly began to appreciate the power of writing. When my best friend from elementary school and I drifted apart after she found new friends, I felt a deep sense of loss. I remember filling the pages of my Justice diary with my heartache, pouring out my feelings while tears streamed down my face. That release was essential for me. In those moments, when I felt alone and couldn’t share my feelings with anyone else, the pen and paper became my lifeline.
As I've navigated high school, I've discovered that I don’t need a large circle of friends; I’ve learned that it’s okay to feel pain, and those emotions, too, will pass. Writing turned into a friend for me—an unwavering companion through some of my darkest moments. There were many nights spent alone in my room, just me, my tears, my diary, and a pen that I cherished. I truly value the discretion that writing offers; it creates a personal connection between me and my thoughts.
Now, as I approach graduation, I plan to write myself a letter to read on that special day. Even my own words can serve as a source of inspiration. I recently received the incredible news that I've been accepted into my dream college, Florida International University in Miami. However, I anticipate that the first month or two will be challenging. Being away from my family, especially my mom, is daunting. I will find myself in a new city, living with a stranger in a dorm, which will require quite an adjustment.
But amidst all this change, I will have my diary close by. I intend to start a new one to document not just the initial months of college but all four years that lie ahead. This journal will be like a trusted companion for me, a place where I can weave my story, one day to share with my children, and perhaps even their children. Writing is so much more than just an activity for me; it’s love, adventure, and a way to express my feelings. It truly is my friend.
John Young 'Pursue Your Passion' Scholarship
As a young girl, I often grappled with uncertainty regarding my future aspirations and professional identity. Nevertheless, one ambition remained constant: the desire to be my own boss. At the age of 14, I embarked on an entrepreneurial journey by founding my own business, Elegant Dazzelz, where I created handmade jewelry. This initiative not only allowed me to craft pieces that empowered young girls and women to express themselves, but also taught me invaluable lessons in perseverance and dedication. Participating in community pop-up shops was particularly rewarding, as I observed the positive reactions from customers who appreciated both the jewelry and the hardworking young entrepreneur behind the table.
These experiences inspired me to envision a future in which I could extend my skills beyond jewelry sales to the field of real estate. I am particularly passionate about the idea of transforming ordinary houses into cherished homes for families throughout Florida. It is noteworthy that the real estate sector is often less highlighted compared to other professions, such as nursing or other medical fields, where many of my peers aspire to make their mark. I express my admiration for their commitment to improving the medical landscape, as it’s an essential area of service. However, I firmly believe that the real estate industry is equally significant and plays a vital role in community development.
My goal is to become a realtor who not only listens attentively to clients but also provides thoughtful suggestions and insights that will genuinely benefit them in their long-term journey. While I acknowledge my imperfections, my ambition propels me forward. I often contemplate my aspirations for the next decade, including gaining acceptance into my desired institution, Florida International University, where I aim to pursue a degree in business administration with a focus on real estate. The numerous scholarships I have applied for—though I have not yet received—continue to motivate my pursuit. Receiving this scholarship would make a significant difference in my life, allowing me to pursue my college dreams without the worry of accumulating debt.
This scholarship would represent a critical investment in my future, serving as the first step toward my ambition of becoming a successful realtor who meets the needs of aspiring homeowners. As a dual-enrolled senior at Jean Ribault High School in Jacksonville, Florida—a Title 1 school that receives government assistance for low-income students—I have worked hard to maintain a 4.2 GPA since my junior year. Currently, I am taking only college courses in my senior year, and I truly cherish my education. It means a lot to me, and I approach it with the utmost seriousness and dedication. I understand the challenges that come with being in this environment, but I remain focused on achieving my goals. I deeply appreciate your consideration of my application, and I assure you that your generous support will have a meaningful impact. Thank you for your attention and kindness.
Walking In Authority International Ministry Scholarship
The feeling of wanting to be someone others can turn to for encouragement, help, guidance, and so much more is how I would describe myself when it comes to supporting my community. But why do I feel this way? My motivation stems from the smiles, joy, and relief I can provide to those in need around me. There is nothing more fulfilling than going to bed at night knowing I am connected with my community. There are countless ways to get involved.
For me, I have been a junior coach at my former middle school. Even as a young girl, my family would come together to gather blankets and distribute them during the winter months to those in need downtown and in shelters. Additionally, I have volunteered at elementary schools, assisting teachers during the last two weeks before school started by organizing module books. These experiences weren’t just things I woke up and decided to do; they were driven by a desire within me.
Now, as a senior in high school, nothing has prepared me more than the extracurricular programs I have participated in, and my title as Miss Jean Ribault First Runner-Up has helped shape me into the confident leader and helper I am today. These programs have provided me with opportunities to network and become even more involved in my community. For example, when a Publix food truck comes to my high school every other Friday, a few classmates and I help distribute produce and goods to families in the community who have signed up. This is just one of the many ways my extracurricular activities have connected me with others in the community.
My title as Miss Jean Ribault First Runner-Up has especially inspired me to initiate a personal community service project—something that carries my name and face, which means a great deal to me. This initiative is called "Empower Her." Through this project, I aim to inspire young girls and women to understand the importance of finding their purpose, recognizing their worth, and not allowing anyone to diminish their value or make them feel purposeless. The main reason for this project is my personal experience of not realizing my worth and feeling lost about my purpose in life. I will organize pop-up shops, gatherings, and various activities that will unite women in my community and ignite a sense of empowerment. Witnessing the smiles and empowerment of these women will fulfill me in a way words cannot express. This initiative is close to my heart, and I am determined to bring it to life.
