Helping my community throughout my high school career is something I have always been passionate about, and it is something that I will continue to pursue as I get older. In order to change the world little by little, you have to be the change that you want to see within your community, which is why I think that volunteer work is so important. I believe that I represent the spirit of excellence due to my effort of wanting to help others. Every day I am working to help those around me through the projects I am involved in! The world cannot turn unless we learn to help one another through life. I am involved in SADD which stands for students against destructive decisions, and this this group we go around the town and our school trying to help those in need around us through funding and labor. I am also involved in FBLA, which stands for future business leaders of America, and in this group, I am a part of a community service project called Project Red. Project Red funds the school and different areas in the community with period products placed in womens restrooms for those in need. I am also part of a Jeff Bezos scholarship team, which gives me the incentive to get the students at our school the duty to perform at least 3 hours of community service this school year. And finally, outside of the school setting, I volunteer at the local library at least once every two weeks by writing down the book records for our state's history. I'm involved in more extracurriculars, but these are the ones I do that pertain to just volunteer work. I also found a way to get my workplace involved in community service. My workplace now has a donation bucket that receives funds from our community that now get donated to a charity in Africa that is having a lot of financial trouble. Due to the funding, these children at the charity now get to go to school, and they now are no longer starving due to lack of income. Helping others is not only what I am passionate about, but it is something that I love to do. I am working hard every day to try and continuously help those in need, and I plan on doing this for the rest of my life. The activities I am involved in help the community in more ways than I can think of, which is why I love being a part of them. And one day, I hope I can help as many people get back up when they have fallen. Sometimes, all a person needs is a helping hand, and I want to be there for as many people as possible. I hope to one day also inspire those around me to step up in their community, and help change the world, one helping hand at a time. Ever since I was young my family has always had to fight to stay out of poverty. My mother raised me by herself, and she would often go hungry just so I would have food to eat. She tried to go to college but she never had the financial means to finish it, unfortunately. Even though she has provided for me, I am now looking for the opportunities offered to me through scholarships to try and help pay for my college. I have worked extremely hard throughout high school, and with my extracurriculars, I typically don't get home every night during the school year until 6:30. My mother has always taught me to work hard, and with her story, I am trying to financially support the future I desire of becoming a lawyer. If I ever had the financial means one day, I would not hesitate to help my mother when anything I possibly could. I am a non-traditional student because I choose to fight every day for the future I desire so I am capable of helping my mother and the community as I get older. My mother has always shown me what true hard work looked like, and now she is a successful woman who I am extremely grateful for and proud of. I desire more than anything else to be able to just have the opportunity to one day help as many people as I can. This scholarship would offer me another step in the right direction to better my future, as well as many others. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always been obsessed with Barbie. Barbie was and still is a part of my childhood, and the girly-like aspect of the past movies (and of course the new film) has inspired my confidence throughout my womanhood. If I could build my very own Barbie dream house, I would make the location be in Greece, specifically Athens, Greece. This city is filled with so much fascinating history, and I just know it would be an amazing place to live. The house would be 3 stories consisting of a basement, a middle floor, and then an upstairs. I would want the house to have a rustic exterior with a warm brown and wooden color scheme. And, of course, on the outside, I want to fill the lawn with wildflowers growing out of every nook and cranny. In the backyard, I would want a garden that would grow different varieties of beautiful flowers, and then some different fruits and veggies, like strawberries and spinach. And then, right in the center of my backyard, I would have a huge tree that grows real and endless amounts of money! When I think about the interior of the house, I can picture this rustic flowery villa with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. And Besides these rooms, I would have the most beautifully open kitchen EVER. The entire house will smell like lavender at all times, and birds and butterflies are in every direction that you look. All animals are welcome, and they are all fuzzy and cute. This house on the inside will even contain a one-of-a-kind walk-in closet that magically gives me whatever I desire to wear that day. And of course, the best feature that this house will have is a giant library that contains any book you could desire. This library also grants you the ability to travel wherever you'd like, including a non-fictional realm or a fictional realm (Like Barbies). Even though this Barbie house would be a real dream come true, I do instead hope that different Barbie movies will continue to inspire children throughout the world. The message I have always received from Barbie is to love everyone, even your enemies, and love is something that everyone deserves. You never know what the Raquelles of the world are going through, so continue to shine bright, spread love, and dream on!
