“Women In Aviation” these 3 words inspire and motivate me to strive towards my dream career as an airline pilot. Since the age of 8 years old, I have had big dreams of becoming an airline pilot. Residing within minutes of the flight path of all aircraft, entering and leaving Harry Reid Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada sparked an interest in “plane spotting” I also became very curious of what the inside of a cockpit/aircraft looked like being that I had not flown much at the age of 8, this too led me to research different model planes, cockpits, landing gear, etc. My mother would take me to watch planes at least 2-3 times a week. At the age of 17, I began pursuing my career while attending high school (class of 2025). I am currently a student pilot at California Aeronautical University in Bakerfield, California. Starting my flight journey at a very young age has had a positive impact on my life and has taught me numerous things. Flying has impacted on my character, allowing me to be observant, calm, realistic, adaptable and cautious. Flying has allowed me to have grace under pressure with my ability to remain calm and composed in high challenging or stressful situations. Instead of reacting impulsively, grace under pressure allows me to make clear and sound, logical decisions. In this field, time management is very important and the key to success. I consider myself a self-starter by taking full responsibility for my life, understanding my purpose, setting meaningful goals and being prepared as possible for my commitment to aviation and having pure resilience to overcome any obstacles to continuing working towards my goal of becoming an airline pilot. Aviation has benefited me with specialized knowledge, critical thinking skills and a greater sense of independence. Collaborating with me allows strong problem solving and interpersonal skills, trust, safety and a strong sense of purpose. Women in aviation drive positive impacts through diverse perspectives, fostering innovation and enriching the industry’s culture, acting as role models who inspire future generations of female pilots and engineers. My goal is to increase the number of women involved in all areas of aviation and aerospace. Women make up about 3% in the workforce of aviation. This scholarship will be a great contribution to my career development. I have chosen a rewarding career that I know I will take pride in, knowing I can and will get people to and from their destinations and home to their families safely. My passion for aviation is a deep-seated love for flight, mechanics, and the boundless opportunities the skies offer. I WILL be a part of the rising percentage of “Women in Aviation”.
