Bio

I am a first-generation college student who wants to become a nurse. I'm a student at Chamberlain University College of Nursing right now. At Memorial Hermann, I also have a full-time job as a certified nursing assistant. My ambition to go to nursing school so that I can provide better care for my patients has been inspired by my work as a CNA. I've discovered that I can learn something new every day to advance my career. I'll be able to combine my love of science and technology with my passion for helping people. I knew I belonged in the nursing sector because I enjoyed and found fulfillment in making others' lives better. That's because I genuinely believe that I was created to serve. I desired to show love. I wanted to be the one to take away anyone's sorrow, suffering, misery, and anguish. I naturally developed a passion for it over the course of my life. I developed into the person I am now as a result of the morals my parents taught my siblings and me: compassion, kindness, and selflessness. My personal objective is to gain as much knowledge as I can in order to one day work as a nurse practitioner in charge of people's health and safety. I'm hoping to get a scholarship so I may lessen the financial burden of pursuing my dream of becoming a nurse by using it to assist pay for my nursing school expenses.

I'll confess that nursing school can be daunting, but there are strategies for maintaining good mental, physical, and dietary health while enrolled. For me, it's a little more difficult because I work full-time, 12-hour hours and go to school three times a week. As a result, I use the free time in between tasks to prepare meals, work out, sleep, and study. Meal planning helps me balance my diet and nutritional needs. I make sure to eat the nutrients I need for digestion, bone health, energy generation, and tissue growth and repair. I make sure to eat before class and even after being dismissed because I need a lot of these macronutrients to perform effectively I stay physically healthy by exercising every day. Specifically, exercising regularly, going for walks, and performing chores around the house. Oh, and changing my patients every two hours at work also encourages me to exercise! Being on your feet all day long while working at a hospital requires me to take more than 900 steps each shift. There are days when I'm worn out or feel dejected, but I always remember that I have to take care of myself because my attitude at school can suffer as a result. I can persevere and keep going at school because to the attitude I've developed in the gym. Now it can be a little trickier to keep your mental health in check when you're in nursing school. Ideally, it comes down to self care. That is doing anything I do to improve my wellbeing and happiness. But I deal with it by engaging in enjoyable activities while I study or during my downtime. For instance, I like being outside in beautiful, serene settings. When I visit parks, trek, and trails, it helps me relax mentally. Depending on what I'm doing, I attempt to study during that time as well because my mind is free of stress and any other influences. Additionally, I like visiting coffee shops all across Houston. Most of my effort on improving my mental health is done there. There, I can take some time to breathe and consider my goals. I schedule time to read my self-improvement books in order to strengthen my thinking and broaden my perspective. That will eventually enable me to share the knowledge I learn with those nearby and/or at school. This finally relates back to the various self-care activities I engage in for my dietary and physical health. I discovered that it's crucial to pay attention to one's mental health in order to reduce one's vulnerability to mental disease and raise awareness of mental health issues among others. I make good use of my time by focusing on activities I like while being in school.
