Hello! My name is Munachimso Ozobodo, and I am currently a Pre-Nursing student at Towson University in my Sophomore year. My main academic goal right now is to work hard in school to maintain my competitive GPA so that I have a higher chance on getting into nursing school, and also doing well on the TEAS Exam which will strengthen my application. My long-term goal is to become a Nurse Practitioner, and I have a clear and well-organized plan to do so, which starts by earning my Bachelor's degree first. I am passionate about nursing because I have a genuine desire to help those who are in vulnerable positions and support them the best I can while they are going through this time in their life. I thought that nursing would be the best career for me because I've always wanted to work in healthcare because of the positive impact I could have on the lives of others. I make a good candidate for scholarships because I am determined with all of my goals, and I will put any scholarship money that I win to good use. I am already a motivated student who does well in her classes and has a plan for her future, I just need a little financial assistance in order to finance my education so that I can reach all my goals.

Tanya C. Harper Memorial SAR Scholarship
I am currently a Nursing student in my sophomore year in college, and I plan on receiving my DNP after I graduate with my BSN. My goal is to specialize in the Women's Health & Wellness field of Nursing Practice, and with that I will be able to help women receive the proper care that they need to recover from whatever ailments they have. I plan on advocating for women, and being their voice who will be able to communicate how they feel and work to make sure that they receive the proper treatment and care from both me and my colleagues at all times both in and out of the hospital. This is how I plan to make a positive impact on the world through my medical career because women have been discriminated against and not heard enough in the medical field for decades, if not centuries. The doctors that are supposed to be listening to these women and treating them accordingly have been ignoring their cries for help, downplaying their issues, or straight up dismissing them by calling them dramatic or saying that it's "just their period" and waving them away with no help or advice at all. This medical neglect has caused a lot of women to have to deal with problems at their worse stages when they could have been tackled and treated had their doctors took them seriously earlier; sometimes even becoming fatal and taking the lives of these vulnerable women who put their trust into their healthcare providers not knowing how negligent they were being by dismissing their pain. It is especially important for me to advocate for black women, not only because I am a young black woman myself, but because there is a long history of black women being neglected, harmed, and exploited by the United States healthcare system. I plan on using my knowledge of medical terms and experience working in a hospital (I plan to work as an RN for about 2 years before going back to school to earn my DNP) to amplify the voices of black women who are hurting and make them feel comfortable and emboldened to vocalize their problems and demand that they receive proper treatment without feelings of guilt for inconveniencing anybody. As healthcare providers, it is our job to make sure that we take the problems of our patients properly and take them seriously when they tell us that they are in pain. Patients should never have to feel like they are a burden or that they don't know what they are talking about, because it is their body, and only they know where it hurts and how bad it is. As a healthcare provider, I would make it my sole mission to make sure that all of my patients felt comfortable enough with me to tell me what is wrong with them, and I will help them explain their problems to my colleagues and ensure that they receive the appropriate treatments needed to help them recover.
Do Good Scholarship
I plan on becoming a nurse practitioner so that I can support people who are not doing the best health-wise, and also be there for their families. I plan on being a travel nurse for some time so that I can gain experience while also traveling the world and working in hospitals that may be understaffed or need help. I will be the support of many different people, and I will be a person that they can rely on while they are recovering.
Science Fiction Becomes Science Fact Scholarship
When people spend too much time on their computers and not interacting with people in person, it has an effect on the person's way of speaking to people when they do eventually leave their house in talk to people outside. There are some issues that might have been a hot topic on chat forums, but when it comes to real life, no one really cares because they're not affected by it in any feasible way, like the discourse on neopronouns. Only communicating with people online can change the way a person thinks, speaks, or even acts around others in person because they believe that everyone else will understand what they are talking about, but that simply isn't the case. There was a term that was even developed on TikTok called "chronically online" that was a term used to describe people who were online so much that they had a warped view of reality and what really mattered in the world.
