Paschal Security Systems Criminal Justice Scholarship
I am a scholar looking to seek higher education in criminal justice in hopes of becoming a peace officer to help serve and protect my community. I am most passionate about actively participating in community service as well as being engaged in communal group activities. I am attending Sam Houston State University where I am studying Law Enforcement with the intent of also learning more about psychology. When I moved to Dallas in 2020, for sophomore year, I was assigned as a Squad Leader in the Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps where I assumed the responsibility of caring for and teaching my cadets to become better citizens. Throughout high school, I was granted the responsibility to perform as a Color Gaurd and Sabor Guard during events and was awarded: the Military Excellence Award, Veterans of Foreign War Award, and American Legion Award. Outside of JROTC, I was a student in the Nation Honor Society, an athlete in volleyball and wrestling, and managed the softball team for a year. In 2021, I joined the CTE Program where I took online criminal justice classes, with Dallas County Community College, to give me a start on getting my associate's degree. During my senior year of high school, I began true hands-on experience by joining the Dallas Police Explorer Program. I was later interviewed and selected to Intern at the Richardson Police Department. During this time, I had on-the-job opportunities to gain "real-world" work experience in a career-related Professional workforce environment that interacted with multiple divisions within the department. I graduated with a 3.5 GPA, Level 2 Security Guard Certification, and 45+ college credits. Through my criminal justice profession, I hope to make a good effect on the world by joining groups such as the National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives, where I can express myself while simultaneously advocating for other women in law enforcement. I plan to attend community involvement events, career and safety seminars, and offer lectures to residents and officers on indicators of abuse in relationships, at home, and in peer-to-peer contact. During the times when I'm not working, I will volunteer as a mediator for victims' support groups, disseminate information about aid organizations, and connect residents with those who can help them. I then want to work with police academies to shape future officers and prepare them for real-world experiences as true police officers who can make a difference in others' lives.
