Bio

Hi! I'm Morgan and I am an upcoming sophomore at UNT majoring in Graphic design. As a dedicated student pursuing a degree in Graphic Design at the University of North Texas, I am driven by my profound passion for art and a vision to become a UX Designer. Throughout my early years at Hightower High School, from which I graduated in 2023. I've discovered my passion in graphic design, the nexus of creativity and technology, where I've refined my abilities in digital media, visual communication, and user-centered design concepts. I have a strong foundation in design theory, technical expertise, and project management thanks to my extracurricular activities in studio art and studies, which has equipped me for the fast-paced world of UX design.

I consider myself to be a black woman of excellence because I have never allowed my struggles to define me. I've been a swimmer for 10 years, and as a black swimmer, I have had a pretty unique upbringing. I've always been competitive, and I take great pride in my competitive nature, which has led me to win several medals and trophies in my swimming pursuits. Being a swimmer for such a long time faced me with many difficulties. Numerous of my white teammates would undervalue my talents until they witnessed me coming in first in nearly every race. Surprisingly, despite being so young, I never felt the need to give up. I was terrific at what I did, and I enjoyed it. I took my abilities to high school, where I made varsity for three years. I strongly believe that if I didn't swim, I wouldn't be the woman I am today. Not only did swimming teach me how to swim, but it also taught me to stay committed and take advantage of what you're good at, no matter what you deal with in the process. I take pride in being a black swimmer, and eventually, I want to open a swim school for black swimmers because I understand what it's like to face systemic hurdles while being an excellent swimmer. As a black woman, I understand the importance of representation, and I strive to be that. I completed the majority of my volunteer and community service work while I was a member of the National Honor Society at Hightower High School, where I attended high school. I used to organize the aisles and get rid of outdated, unwanted items when I helped at Goodwill and other tiny resale shops. I frequently helped at the Houston Food Bank, where I mostly bagged goods like rice and canned items. Volunteering at these places, I mostly learned the responsibility of helping out the community and those in need. I also became used to the workplace, which later helped me in my future employment. Whenever I'm asked the question, "What's your greatest accomplishment?" I never feel like my answers are good enough until now. My grandma passed away about a year ago from liver failure, and on her deathbed the day before she passed, she asked me to make her pretty. She exclaimed, "I look beautiful," as she turned to face the mirror after I had done her hair and makeup. Given that it was one of her final recollections and that it was also my last memory of her, that little exchange would undoubtedly stand as my best achievement. That was a wholesome moment I will never forget!
