Bio

My name is Monica, and I am a college graduate looking into scholarships to help pay off my student loans. I returned to college in 2015 after dedicating much of my life to raising my six children since 1984 and working in different jobs that fit in with my kids' schedules. I then became a substitute teacher in 2017 and bought my first house by myself later that year. I later graduated from Madonna University in 2018 with a bachelor of science in paralegal studies. Since then, I have continued to work as a substitute teacher and done document reviews for various projects. I was able to stop working in retail, which was not ideal for my injured ankle. In my free time, I like to hang out with my youngest daughter, Vanessa, and read. I also enjoy visiting my birth mom, who I met thirty-two years ago. I am currently looking into ways to get back into theater, my true passion, whether it is on-stage or backstage. I had originally wanted to major in theater when I first entered college in 1978 at the University of Detroit. However, I dropped out after feeling lost and not agreeing with my parents on a major. I continued to work in retail, started a family, and later returned to college to earn my associate degree in legal studies in 1992. I had wanted to become a teacher then, but a college counselor advised me against it due to the field being oversaturated. Therefore, substitute teaching has in more recent years been my alternative in between my document reviews. Now, I just need to find a way to channel my passion for theater in one that will fit in with my lifestyle.
