I am the sole parent of five grandchildren and four grown children. When I was little, I wanted to work as a nurse like my grandmother, but as I became older, I decided to pursue a career as a programmer analyst. I had made some choices at a young age that forced me to postpone that objective in order to provide for my family.
I made an effort to stay at home with my children, but it was difficult and unpleasant to do so while receiving government aid. For a few years, I chose to be a school bus driver so that my kids could get to school safely, but the pay wasn't enough to cover our expenses. I upgraded and started working as a city bus driver for ten years to earn more money. I felt compelled to change occupations, and this gave me the opportunity to work in an area that supported my pleasure.
My grandmother is my role model because she was a nurse.
I cherished hearing the tales she told me about the issues that led individuals to the hospital. Knowing that I could develop into a person who could support others during difficult times and encourage them as they heal was really exciting. Growing up, I didn't pursue nursing because I let myself and others deter me about the amount of schooling I would have to endure. I didn't want to go through that battle again after finishing high school, not realizing that I would come full circle and follow this road 35 years later. I chose to enter the healthcare industry after being compelled to shift career choices. As I became more immersed in my studies of healthcare, I realized that I had been hiding my love and aptitude for nursing.
When I decided to work in the healthcare industry, my short-term aim was to become a Clinical Support Specialist. I started out as a Patient Billing and Services Representative, then moved into a Medical Assistant role. As I've progressed along my path, I've come to appreciate the relationships I have with people, teaching them about selfcare, inspiring them, and letting them know that I'm there to support them as they heal. I am confident that if I stay on this route in healthcare, it will allow me to assist individuals not only in the United States but all across the world.
My long- term objective is to practice medicine abroad as a traveling nurse. When I visited El Salvador, I observed that, despite a number of other factors, the main cause of individuals not receiving medical care was their inability to pay for it. El Salvador should be able to afford medical care, and everyone else should be treated equally. I want to use my knowledge, talents, and abilities to help others and provide those in need with hope. I will be able to carry out my mission in life by taking part in and enjoying these life-altering moments as a traveling nurse.
Cat Zingano Overcoming Loss Scholarship
My life was profoundly affected by the passing of my maternal grandmother and my grandmother's youngest son, and as a result, I became aware of the need to support the generation who came before me. My grandmother was my hero, and losing her made me realize how alone I really was and how little I had done to prepare my children and their children for the future. I was so devastated to lose my Uncle, who was my support, that it took me some time to gather myself. I grew so miserable that I was consumed by my own sorrow, memories, and thoughts. As time went on, I didn’t realize that I was just living and had blocked everyone and everything out. I was missing out on opportunities because I was so disconnected from what was going on around me. I had to pray to Jesus in order for him to save me and enable me to put my feet firmly on the ground. My early memories started to surface while I was trying to find my way. I recalled how much I enjoyed hearing about her cases when she worked as a nurse in the emergency room; it made me want to follow in her footsteps and pursue a career in nursing. After 10 years, I switch careers, and having to go back to school after 34 years wasn't something I was looking forward too. When I was unable to find work while attending full-time school, debts began to mount, and I was losing hope and focus, my battle became real. Just before my first graduation, I finally got a job, which required me to miss two weeks of school to attend my new employment's orientation. I was not up to date on the requirements to finish my classes in order to graduate when I went back to school. I had to go to school in the evenings after work when I went back to school a second time to get my AAS in Medical Science. Because of the Corona Virus, which closed down the classrooms, and the virtual nature of the classes at the time, my age wasn't such a huge deal. Despite the fact that I was the oldest student in my graduating class, I was determined to finish my AAS in Medical Science I wasn't happy in my job after earning my AAS, and I was aware that this wasn't where I wanted to be. My dream was not to work as a medical assistant, so I’ve returned to school a third time to continue working on earning my bachelor's degree in nursing.

I am a single mother of four adult kids who was their sole caregiver when they were young. I placed my aspirations on hold to support those of my kids. Since my childhood dreams have grown up and moved on with their lives, I've decided to examine them. When I was a young child, my grandmother worked as a nurse, and I looked up to her. I wanted to follow in her footsteps because she used to tell me stories about different circumstances or cases that she was involved in. Like a television show, I listened intently to everything she said. I believed it was daring and honorable to aid people you didn't even know. At that point, I chose to study nursing since I liked helping others and wanted to take part in the healing process. Because there was just one parent there, my aspirations shifted as I grew older and started a family. I started taking college courses while my kids were smaller, but it made it harder for me to raise them. My children didn't get to see me as often as they should have because I wasn't always at home. I changed my schedule to stay at home with my kids and give the family a steady source of money, so I stopped going to college and worked nights. I started taking college courses while my kids were smaller, but it made it harder for me to raise them. My children didn't get to see me as often as they should have because I wasn't always at home. I changed my schedule to stay at home with my kids and give the family a steady source of money, so I stopped going to college and worked nights. Before being forced to leave my chosen profession after fifteen years, I had the opportunity to pursue a childhood dream. I contemplated this choice carefully because I wasn't sure I still wanted to become a nurse. I went back to school in 2018 to pursue a Medical Assistant. I first attempted the front desk, next to the medical secretary, and then I had to go back office. Now that I've finished my ASS in Medical Science and achieved my medical assistant license, I enjoy interacting with patients. I've realized that my path in life has come full circle, returning me to the choice I made when I was a child to become a nurse. Barnes Jewish Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, has accepted me into Goldfarb Nursing College as I accomplish the nursing qualifications. With your help and the honor of earning this scholarship, I will be able to complete my trip and fulfill my childhood dreams. I want to pursue a career in either cardiology or surgery. I'll be able to discover how God built our bodies through surgery and observe how they can be fixed. Cardiology will provide me the chance to investigate the heart and discover how to fix it.
McClendon Leadership Award
A leadership role is the ability of the upper management of an organization to define and achieve difficult goals, move swiftly and decisively when necessary, outperform the competition, and motivate employees to perform to the best of their abilities. The first step in leadership is communication. Effective communication is unambiguous, open, and tailored to the audience. A smart team leader will invest the time to determine whether the kind of communication—text, email, phone, or face-to-face—works best for each team member. You develop trust, rapport, and a culture of shared accountability with your team through communication. Communicate frequently, distinctly, and openly. A good leader is a person who knows his or her team the best—their talents, flaws, what drives them, and what makes them tick. If you take the time to get to know your team, you'll be able to communicate effectively with them and accomplish your goals. Knowing yourself is equally as vital as knowing your team. Do you genuinely want to lead, or is this just a job to you?—Do you wish to inspire, lead, and motivate others? You can't call yourself a leader if all you care about is your bank account or your reputation. Most likely neither you nor your team will be content or motivated. If all you do is tell people what to do, you won't have motivated employees, and your outcomes will undoubtedly suffer as a result. Sure, there are instances when you have to take a stand and advance a controversial item on the agenda, but for the most part, you should aim to demonstrate to your team that they have options. When it comes to projects, consider their needs, accept their advice, and follow the democratic process. Giving workers the autonomy they want will, in most cases, lead to a more engaged workforce and greater results. Of course, every organization, department, and project is unique. Instead of imposing duties and expectations, it will be more successful to gently encourage a democratic, collaborative work environment. Ask for feedback frequently, not only from your team but also from other managers, mentors, and coworkers because it can be challenging to conduct an honest self-evaluation. You can utilize feedback to better understand your strengths and limitations and how to leverage them. Your team grows as you do! A title could identify a manager, but a leader isn't created by a title. By putting these suggestions into practice, you can advance to a leadership position and encourage, inspire, and lead your team to success. Even the most successful leaders are always trying to get better. Contact our Human Resources Advisory team right now if you need more assistance enhancing your leadership abilities or the abilities of your complete leadership team. Our team of career experts provides a wide range of career coaching and executive development services that have been shown to motivate and raise executives of all levels of expertise.

I am a single mother of four grown children who has made the decision to follow her childhood dream. Due to choices I made and because of my kids, I abandoned my dreams. I worked for fifteen years in a job I didn't enjoy because I had to support my family. After 35 years, I decided to go back to school after having been compelled to leave my job. I chose to study medicine to see if I still had the desire to achieve my childhood ambition of being a nurse. My role model and grandma was a registered nurse. The stories she spoke about the fascinating situations she handled while working as an ER nurse were fascinating to hear. My grandmother's example of honesty, inspiration, and teaching others how to spend time taking care of themselves inspired me to follow in her footsteps. Where my true passion rests has been revealed to me by working in the doctor's office and watching my grandmother practice nursing. I went back to school and enrolled in the Medical Assistant program to determine whether this was the best course for me. After my initial graduation, I transferred to the back office as a medical assistant. My first role was in patient billing. I completed my studies and earned my AAS in Medical Science after realizing that the decision I had taken was actually the best one for me. My childhood ambition is starting to take shape as I continue on this journey, and it has lead me to my current role as a clinical support specialist My goals and contributions to the sciences will flow into the field of medicine. I'll keep learning more about healthcare so that I have the chance to help others, spread awareness of their rights, and advocate for them. I intend to help individuals everywhere, not simply those who live in the United States. When I traveled to El Salvador, I observed how the locals were unable to access medical treatment or buy medication due to a lack of resources. I want to use my abilities, skills, knowledge, and education to help those around me. After traveling to El Salvador, I decided that there was a bigger need than simply in my community and that I wanted to get involved in medical work abroad. Being a traveling nurse will help me achieve my ultimate aim of contributing to science and allow me to live out my life's purpose while taking part in these life-altering experiences.

I'm passionate about my education because my knowledge and understanding come from learning. Education can be very expensive, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to expand my knowledge and wisdom. I understand in some countries women still aren't allowed to go to school, and that makes me more aggressive to grab the opportunity to learn why it is available for me to do. My instructors help with shaping my beliefs, with the topics that they present in their lesson plans. It opens my mind to new awarenesses that are not seen in my everyday life. It gives me a chance to experience situations that happen in other places and allows me to embrace the differences in my own life. Connecting with my instructors will open doors for building relationships with other students and staff members, which can bridge into desirable careers. I plan to embrace and support my students in any area of their lives that they choose to share with me. I will encourage and uplift them by showing them that despite what they see in the world you can reach any dream you desire if you believe in yourself and make an effort to do the groundwork. I plan to take the time to acknowledge and motivate my students to actions that can also have a significant positive influence. Taking the time to let them know that I notice their efforts, talents, or tenacity, will show them that they are valuable and appreciated. I will be their example to show them that it is more than just words but my actions and being involved. I want to have a remarkable impact by sharing my knowledge, providing honest comments, supporting brands, and sharing my resources. Those who have a good influence are aware of the value of connections and the strength of relationships. I want my students to know that I believe in them as I continue to pour positive and inspirational gestures until it reshapes their heart and thoughts about themselves. I will rejoice and celebrate with my students as we accomplish every small goal that leads to their dreams. They will know that I am in their corner all the way and even if they fall or mess up, we will get up dust ourselves off and pick up where we left off. When my students complete the goal, I will be there to cheer as they receive their diplomas.
Romeo Nursing Scholarship
I have chosen to pursue nursing as a career path because it is my childhood dream. I have a passion for helping people and supporting and nurturing them. My grandmother was a nurse and it captivated me when she would share her workday with me. She was my hero, I wanted to walk in her footsteps. I watched how she served people no matter what walk of life they had come from, and for those that allowed her to help them; they left with a smile. The honor and respect that she poured into the people's lives she encountered were breathtaking to me. As I have become older I have noticed that I have that same demeanor and it makes me happy to see how one life can uplift another with just caring. I was forced out of a job I worked in for ten years, and I came to a crossroads regarding which path should I take. I would either go back to systems programming or I would test the water of the medical field. I attended school as a Medical Assistant, still not sure that I chose the right path. I began as a medical secretary and didn't like that. Before I graduated from the medical program, I had to tour an anatomy lab to complete my hours. I thought it was gonna be gross, but I was so surprised I felt like a kid in a candy store. At that moment I knew I had chosen the right path, I moved myself from the front office to the back office to pursue more hands-on with the patients that came into the office. I have gained so more knowledge and understanding of my position, and the skills that the doctors are teaching me as inspired me to further my education in Nursing. I plan to help every ethnicity and gender, no matter the age or status of citizenship to this country. Once I have my license for nursing, I plan to travel medical abroad. Personally, for me, I will carry my grandmother's legacy on to serve anyone that is in need, medically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally. I will use the gifts, talents and skills that I have learned and that were created in me to be the best nurse that I can be. The support and honor of receiving this scholarship will help me to fulfill my mission.

The nursing industry interests me because my grandmother was a nurse and she was my hero. I enjoyed listening to her stories of the cases she assisted with her everyday schedule upon arriving at work. The different procedures and techniques they carried out to help people heal, was very fascinating and satisfying. I loved watching how my grandmother helped strangers that she didn't know, and the joy it brought her to participate in the working of miracles. As I got older, I ran from this career, because I didn't think I could handle the injuries I saw. I began looking for other paths to travel, but I found no peace, joy or satisfaction in my previous job choices. In 2017, my life changed drastically. I lost my grandmother who was my inspiration and my hero, I was forced out of a career that I had been at for ten years, and at that point I decided to try out the medical field to see if I had the stomach for the experiences that I would face. I thought if I went down this path, it would allow me to feel like my grandmother was still with me. I returned to school, thirty-three years later only to realize that the passion I had to become a nurse was still there. My goal for a successful career is to continue my education in becoming a nurse, I tested the water when I returned to school to become a Medical Assistant. I'm now licensed as a Medical Assistant and I enjoy walking with people on the healing journey. The more I become involved with assisting the doctors that I work alongside, the more I want to learn and pursue nursing. I don't want to be confined to just one area of the medical field, I would like to be able to explore other specialties as well. I traveled to El Salvador last year, I saw a greater need there. This moved me to come home and continue in nursing, it remains me of the animated movie Robots, Bigweld always encouraged the other robots by saying, "When you see a need fill the need. And, that's how I see myself doing, filling a need where ever I can. I started this journey in 2018 after having to change career paths and I have enjoyed my experiences so far. I'm currently volunteering with my church, and I've helped in the school districts with activities, holiday food pantries, remodeling, stocking the food pantries and helping at the nursing home. With your support for this scholarship, I will be able to complete my childhood dream. My goal is to help others to reach higher levels of understanding, educate through healing, learning a better way of living a blessed and healthy lifestyle. I intend to be a caregiver, decision-maker, communicator, manager of care, patient advocate, teacher and support system. I'm pursuing my degree to be a part of the solution for better healthcare for all ethnic groups. I plan on giving proper care while educating others on how to make better choices for a healthier lifestyle. The most important reason is to support, advocate and walk alongside any person in need during their journey of healing. I am a mother of four adult children, who raised my children in a one-parent home. I put my dreams on hold to support my children's dreams. Now that they have become adults and moved on with their lives, I've decided to explore my childhood dreams. When I was a little girl my grandmother was a nurse, and because she was my hero. I wanted to walk in her footsteps, she use to share stories with me about the different scenarios or cases that she was involved in. I hung on her every word as if it was a tv series. I thought it was very courageous and honorable to help people you didn't even know. From that moment on, I decided that I was gonna be a nurse, I enjoyed helping people and wanted to be a part of the healing process and journey. As I became older and started my family, my plans changed due to having only one parent in the house. I started college classes when my children were smaller, but it interfered with raising my children, I was hardly ever home and my children didn't get to see me as much as they needed too. I stopped college and working nights and took another path to change my schedule to be at home with my kids and bring a steady income into the house. The job that I had chosen, I stayed in that field for fifteen years, and then I was forced out of this job and it opened the opportunity to pursue my childhood dream. I thought long and hard about making this move because I didn't think I still had the passion to be a nurse. I went back to school in 2018 as a medical assistant, I tried the front desk or medical secretary and I had to change to the back office. Now that I've completed my ASS in Medical Science and have received my Medical Assistant license, I love dealing with patients. I've realized that I have gone full circle in my life which has led me back to my childhood of becoming a nurse. I am currently fulfilling my prerequisites for nursing and I have been excepted into Goldfarb Nursing College at Barnes Jewish Children’s 'in St. Louis, MO. Your support and the honor to receive this scholarship will help me to complete my journey and fulfill my childhood dreams.

The greatest influencer in my life was and will always be my late grandmother. She was blessed to be a nurse at Homer G Phillips Hospital before it was closed. Her legency will encourage my life forever. She was bold, fierce, loving and always reached out to help others in need. Her stories of being a nurse at Homer G. Phillips Hospital has showed me that despite our deference on the outside, we all look the side on the inside. We all need healing in our lives in one or more areas of our lives and becoming a nurse will open the door to continue serving all with love of our creator. My skills and talents are different because they were a gift from.God, and with His live, guidance and instructions. This will.allow me.to fulfill my childhood dream to walk, educate, advocate, support and lead anyone who is willing to be healed and wanting to live a healthy lifestyle. Being able to travel with the missions team lead me to El Salvador.,.there is where my gifts and talents to evolve. I realized that sharing love and support has no boundaries, and nor should I limit myself with just mentoring, supporting and guiding others to make better choices with their health. I plan to use my skills and talents to reach all ages, ethnicities and countries. My future goal is to travel medical abroad to reach pass the limitations and boundaries that have been set in place. My passion and compassion for serving others will allow my gifts and talents to stretch in ways that have been lost in our society today. My gifts will bring back honor and respect, while embracing others were they are and encouraging people that they matter. I am hoping that while I am serving others with my gifts and talent, other people who share the same desires with different gifts and talents join me. It would be an honor for me to share this plan, by networking and devine connections not just to build healthy relationships, but to build stronger communities. Allowing everyone to come out of their safe place and be daring to bring their gifts and talents to share with others as well as in the world. This action will open the door to allow our Heavenly Gather to enter in and penetrate every opened heart that is willing to receive His invitation to love, light and life.

The best way for me to begin addressing any important issue would be for me to educate myself by completing college. I would volunteer in areas where the social need is greater. I would build a team of colleagues with open-minded, broad views of thinking, and use everyone's gifts, talents and skills to address the issue at hand. We would focus on the social issue, research and gather all the information that we could get. Break the information down into groups and place it in an outline. I would assign groups to work on their assigned part of the project and work with each group individually to reach a solution. There would be a group to listen to the public on the issues and concerns and hear their suggestion on how to help the public. Their job is also to teach the public, help people understand that there are many ways to think about and approach the same problem, and teach essential critical thinking skills. Once the groups have finished, we will come together and decide what would be the best way to proceed. I would introduce to my team short cycles of experiments to test the strategies that we decided on. Once the experiments are over, if the responses are good then the team will set up a fundraiser for funds to address the issue. If the results don't return favorably from the experiments, then our team will have to go back to the drawing board and start the research again until we come up with a new list of ideas and then repeat the experiment until we find what works. Once our research is done and we have put together an outline or goals, then we can set up deadlines for how we're gonna address the situation and when we're gonna walk out the agenda. My team will open this issue up for the public for volunteers to get involved and help bring the solution to life. The more people that get involved that are on the same page, the more successful the outcome will be. Finding solutions for any matter takes willingness, faithfulness, togetherness and willing to agree to disagree. No one person can handle an important social issue alone, because it affects everyone. So you'll need subjective thoughts and ideas to cover all aspects and every ethnicity within the city.
Set measurable goals with a scary deadline.

I was forced to change job paths, and I decided to try out the medical field to see if I had the stomach for the experiences that I would face. I return to school, thirty-three years later only to realize that the passion I had to become a nurse was still there. A lot of the people didn't see doctors nor could they afford to go to the hospital. My goal is to help others reach and receive healing, understanding and knowledge in living a blessed and healthy lifestyle. I haven't quite decided what specialty I will be pursuing, but cardiac and nephrology truly have my interest. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to receive support to continue my education.

Analtha Parr Pell Memorial Scholarship
I am a single mom that raised four children, as the time to pursue my childhood dream. I drove the city bus for ten years and wasn't happy, so I changed careers later in life to experience the field that brings me happiness. My grandmother was a Nurse, and she is my hero. I loved listening to the stories she shares with me about the problems that brought people to the hospital. It was very exciting to know that I could become a person that could help others in times of trouble and encourage them as they heal. I didn't pursue Nursing as I grew up, because I allowed myself and others to discourage me with all of the schoolings that I would have to endure. After the struggle of achieving high school, I didn't want to experience that same hardship again, not realizing that I would make a full circle and return to this path thirty-five years later. When I was forced to change job paths, I decided to try the healthcare field. the more involved in the learning of healthcare I discovered that I had hidden my passion and gifts for being a Nurse. My short-term goal started when I chose to be a part of the healthcare field, I began as a Patient Billing and Services Representative, then moved into a Medical Assistant position, which evolved into a Clinical Support Specialist. As I continued to move through my journey, I'm realizing that I'm enjoying my interactions with others while educating them on self-care, encouraging, and showing them that someone cares and will walk with them through their healing journey. I know that if I continue this path in healthcare, it'll open doors for me to help people not just in the United States, but around the world. My long-term goal is to become a traveling Nurse, a participate in medicine abroad. I visited El Salvador and I saw how people went without medical care for a variety of reasons, but the main reason was that they couldn't afford it. Countries like El Salvador should be able to receive affordable medical care and be treated like those who can. I plan to serve others with my skills, education and abilities to give hope to those who need it. Being a travel Nurse will allow me to fulfill my purpose on earth and participate and enjoy these life-changing events.

I am a single momma of four, and the experience I had raising my children alone was very interesting. I had good times and rough times, but with God's help, I made it through. I endured homelessness, living in shelters and living in low-income housing, as a single mom. I worked and went to school, but as my children grew, I had to change my dreams for them to have one parent's support. When my children were babies, I started pursuing college, but the situation became very discouraging having to be away from my children all day. It took a car accident for me to let go of my dreams, I was leaving work and on my way to school. When I fell asleep at the wheel. I walked away with minor injuries, so I had to make some changes and I let go of school. The reason I took this load upon myself was at that young age, I thought that was a part of being an adult and being responsible for my decisions. My only regret was that I tried to carry this responsibility by myself, not understanding that it takes a community to raise a child. I walked away from pursuing my education to help my children to finish school and support their activities. There were times when I had to sacrifice my daily needs to make sure that my children didn't have to go without. Now, that all of my children are grown, I am pursuing my childhood dream and following in my grandmother's footsteps of being a Nurse, I'm currently completing my prerequisites and will be starting Nursing School this fall in 2023. I won't allow anything to keep me from reaching my goals, and with your help financially, I will succeed and complete my journey.
