"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" Jeremiah 29:11. This is a Bible verse I think of every day. It helps me get through my hard times when I’m just not sure what to do. Planning my future and what I want to do for the rest of my life is a very tough decision. I have considered so many different options but I think I finally figured out the one I will like the best. I am Molly, a 17 year old who goes to New London Jr-Sr High School. I grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho, and was planning on graduating from the community college. I had everything planned out. I knew where I was going to go and how long it would take to get my degree and how much it would cost, then one day my mom and step-dad decided that it was time to move. In the middle of my junior year we moved all the way to New London Iowa. It was very different to me. I grew up in a small town and went to a very small private school. I never liked it but that’s where my dad decided he wanted me to go and I didn’t have a choice. My parents got divorced when I was seven and both remarried. My mom remarried a pastor who already had three kids and had no money. My dad remarried a woman who was mean. Soon my dad’s wife got pregnant and I was now the oldest of six. Soon after the baby was born my dad’s wife started drinking and did not want us around. She would do anything she could to make us leave. She started to abuse us not just physically but mentally. After a month or so my mom took him to court, we were no longer allowed to go around her so my dad and his wife moved to Boise Idaho. Later on my dad divorced her and got full custody of my sister. He recently remarried to a much better woman. He still lives in Idaho but I now only see him once a year. I now live in New London, Iowa. I am now planning on going to Southeastern Community College in Burlington, but because of this decision I no longer have any funding from my grandparents. My father does not pay child support and has not for a long time. My mother does not work but my step-dad is still a pastor. So sometimes money gets tight. I don’t want money to stop me from planning a great future, so I work in the morning before school and plan on working while attending college. I have maintained a high GPA throughout all of my high school career. I plan to become a teacher. I love to learn and I want kids to love to learn just as much as I do so I plan on becoming a teacher. I have never had a history teacher who has loved to teach the subject. I want to be the teacher who loves to teach my subject. I find it very fascinating and would read about it all day if I could.

I am Molly, a 17 years old who goes to New London High School. Out of six children in a blended family, I am the second oldest. My dad lives in Idaho and I live with my mom and step-dad in Iowa. We are a single income household and my step-dad is a pastor. I participate in a lot of different activities and I volunteer when I can. I play basketball and volleyball, I am currently running track and I will help manage the softball team during the summer. I am also in the National Honors Society. I help in the food pantry and with the blood drive. I also go to youth group every Wednesday and I volunteer in the nursery at church on Sunday. I am currently working at a daycare in town to save money for my college tuition. I am the first one in my family to go to college, but I have to pay for it all myself, because we are a low income family. I have four other siblings who live with me and my dad doesn’t pay child support so sometimes it's a little tight when it comes to money. I am planning on going to college to be a teacher. Hopefully a history teacher. I love history and I am so excited to help students learn. I have never had a good history teacher. They never know what they are talking about or they just assign the work and so really teach you. I am planning to be a much better teacher then the ones I had. People always tell me it is harder than I think, but I know I have the passion and work ethic to do it. I will go to college to get my bachelor's degree in education. I may earn a higher degree later, but this is what I am planning on for now. I also plan on working while I attend. This will make things a little easier when it comes to paying for books and other things that I will need. My goal is to have as few student loans and debt as I possibly can by the time I graduate. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds me every day that there is a plan for my life, even when things feel uncertain. Growing up in a family where money is tight and you have more responsibilities is not easy, but I feel it has made me more determined to pursue what I want to do. I know that becoming a teacher will allow me to make a difference in people's lives and it will allow me to teach about something I love. If I am determined and work hard I can build the future that I want.
