Bio

Hello! The loss of my father inspired me to pursue my academic goals. My father held two Phds and i witness him shift his career from a mechanic to a professor at several universities in south Florida. I graduated with Bachelors of Science degree from Full Sail University and nearly completed my masters before my mom had a stroke. I helped her rehab meanwhile working in the industry as producer and creative director. Fast forward 10 years i am seeking to make a pivot in my career as my father did and become an entertainment attorney. I enrolled as a transfer student to St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Fl where i will be completing my masters degree in sports administration and then starting law school.

Greetings! My inspiration for schooling and success starts with my late father, I wanted to share my dad’s story because he’s truly the reason for all my success. After moving from NY to Ft. Lauderdale in 1990, my dad opened a mechanic shop in Fort. Lauderdale and he was a great provider and an awesome father. A handful of years later my dad decided to begin his journey in education and began studying for his bachelor’s at Keiser College followed by degrees from Lynn University and several others. My father eventually sold his mechanic shop to begin a teaching career at Keiser University. I was very proud of my dad for trading his wrench for a tie. Twenty years of teaching and tons of degrees later my dad was an established. professor and was working at half a dozen universities south Florida. In the summer of 2011, my dad was diagnosed with cancer and was fighting to stay alive. in hopes of completing his second PhD. I buried my dad in January of 2012 and shortly after I received the second PhD in the mail with a condolence. letter from the University. Shortly after settling my mom and brothers I packed my bags and drove north to attend Full Sail University (Orlando, Fl/ March 2012) in honor of my father. I loved the environment at school right away and the film degree program was awesome, I was so excited upon completing college, to walk the stage in cap and gown, so my mom can see me graduate. However, a few days prior to walking with my graduating class my mom had a stroke, and I didn’t get to walk because, I wanted to be by my mom’s side. I decided to take the master’s degree online program at Full Sail in entertainment business, meanwhile, helping my mom recover as she lost the ability to walk and talk. I did not finish my masters, I completed 24 of 36 credits and after living in Los. Angeles for the past 4 years I recently moved back to West Palm Beach. I have been a producer/director in the entertainment industry for approx. 8 years and gaining this degree would advance me in my field. Now I am seeking to make a shift in my career from Producer/Director to Entertainment Attorney. I am already within the network so succeeding will depend on my effort and passion to succeed. I also will be looking to teach in the future as I have a passion for teaching. I have mentored hundreds of kids/students over the years and continue to coach the youth. I would be much grateful if you would consider me for this scholarship! Ty Mohsen M. Khaial
