    For the Culture Scholarship
    Dream BIG, Rise HIGHER Scholarship
Education has shaped my life more than anything else, not just by teaching me subjects, but by giving me a sense of direction when everything around me felt confusing. When I came to the United States from Bangladesh in 2022 at age twelve, I entered a world that felt completely unfamiliar. I did not speak English, I did not understand the culture, and I did not know how school worked here. I remember sitting in classrooms feeling lost, watching the teacher write on the board or speak fast, and none of it made sense. I wanted to hide because every time the teacher asked me a question, I froze. Sometimes students laughed at my accent, and that made me feel even more embarrassed. During those moments, I felt like school was a place where I would never fit in. But even through all the fear and confusion, education became the path that helped me move forward. It showed me that if I kept learning, I could build a future that was bigger than my struggles. The biggest challenge I faced was learning English from almost nothing. I had to start from the beginning. After school, I spent hours watching English videos, repeating words, practicing grammar, and trying my best to pronounce things correctly. I talked to my teachers even though I felt shy. I listened carefully during class even though I understood very little at first. Every single day, I pushed myself a little more. At times it felt frustrating, especially when I wanted to express something but did not have the words. But slowly, my effort started to pay off. I understood more each week. I began speaking with more confidence. I participated in class, finished my assignments, and stopped being scared to raise my hand. I eventually passed all of my Regents exams, including U.S. History, which was extremely challenging for me because of the heavy reading and difficult vocabulary. Passing those exams was not just an academic success. It was proof that I had the strength to overcome something I once thought was impossible. My journey has shaped my goals for the future. Now I have a clear plan for college. I want to study business, finance, or accounting. I have always enjoyed working with numbers because solving math problems makes me feel calm and focused. Math is like a language I understand clearly. I also love learning how money works and how people make financial decisions. Choosing this field is not only about my interest. It is also about my family. My parents work very hard to give me a better life, and I want to use my education to support them. I want to build financial stability, help my family reach their own dreams, and eventually start my own business. My career goals come from both passion and responsibility. Education also taught me how powerful it is to help others. Once I got stronger in math, I began helping classmates who struggled. I helped them during lunch or after school, and teaching them made me feel proud. It showed me that knowledge becomes more meaningful when you share it. Helping others also helped me grow more confident. In the future, I want to encourage students who come to the United States and feel lost like I once did. I want them to know they are not alone and that learning takes time, but improvement always comes. Another important part of my educational journey is what I learned about myself. I learned resilience when times were difficult. I learned patience when progress felt slow. I learned that mistakes are not failures but steps toward growth. I learned that even when people doubt you, you can still rise if you believe in your own effort. These lessons shaped my character and gave me strength for the future. A college education will give me more than a degree. It will give me opportunities that were once far from my reach. It will help me build a better life for myself, my family, and my community. In the future, I hope to create programs or workshops to help immigrant students learn English faster, understand their classes, and feel confident in school. I want to use my experience to guide them and show them that challenges can become strengths. My education journey has taught me to dream big, rise higher, and never give up no matter how difficult things become. It gave me direction during a time when I felt lost. It helped me find confidence within myself. And it continues to inspire me to reach for a future that I once thought was too big for someone like me. Now, because of everything I have learned, I know I am capable of achieving my goals and making a positive impact on the world.
Learner Tutoring Innovators of Color in STEM Scholarship
I have chosen to pursue a degree in STEM because I have always enjoyed problem solving, learning how things work, and finding solutions through logic and creativity. From a young age, I loved math and science because they challenge me to think carefully and explore ideas step by step. When I came to the United States from Bangladesh in 2022 at the age of twelve, STEM subjects became an important way for me to succeed in school. Even though I struggled with English at first, I could understand numbers, patterns, and experiments, and this gave me confidence. STEM showed me that no matter the challenges, with focus, practice, and determination, I could achieve my goals. It was one of the first areas where I felt success and control in a completely new environment, and that experience motivated me to keep pushing myself academically. I am particularly drawn to STEM because it allows me to make a real impact on the world. Science, technology, engineering, and math are used to solve critical problems, from designing sustainable energy solutions to improving healthcare and technology systems. I want to be part of that innovation and use my skills to help people and communities. STEM encourages creativity, discipline, and teamwork, all of which are important in solving real-life challenges. I enjoy seeing how ideas and data can be turned into solutions that make life easier or safer, and I am excited about learning new skills that will allow me to develop solutions on a larger scale. As a person of color, I also hope to inspire others like me to pursue STEM. I know that people from immigrant and minority communities are often underrepresented in these fields. When I first arrived in America, I did not see many students or professionals who looked like me in STEM careers, and that made the path feel uncertain. By pursuing a STEM degree and succeeding in my studies, I hope to show younger students that they can belong in these fields too. I also want to mentor, tutor, and support students in my community who are interested in STEM but may not have guidance, resources, or role models. I believe representation matters, and seeing someone like me succeed can help others feel confident in following their dreams. In the future, I hope to contribute to STEM by working on innovative projects that improve people’s lives and the world around us. Whether it is through technology, engineering solutions, or scientific research, I want to use my skills to create positive change. I also want to advocate for diversity and inclusion in STEM, ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, has the opportunity to contribute and succeed. My journey from Bangladesh to the United States has taught me the value of perseverance, hard work, and helping others, and I will carry these lessons into my STEM career to make a meaningful impact. I am excited to continue learning, growing, and showing the next generation that STEM is for everyone, no matter where they come from.
    Healing Self and Community Scholarship
Mental health is very important, but many people cannot get the help they need because it is too expensive or hard to access. I want to help make mental health care affordable and available to anyone who needs support. Everyone deserves guidance, understanding, and someone to listen, no matter their background, language, or income. I understand this personally. When I came to the United States from Bangladesh in 2022 at age twelve, I did not know English, and school was very confusing. I often felt lost, nervous, and embarrassed when I could not understand my teachers or answer questions. Even though it was not a serious mental health crisis, I felt the stress of adjusting to a new environment. If I had access to counseling or mentorship, it would have helped me feel more confident and supported. In the future, I want to create programs that provide mental health support in safe, accessible, and affordable ways. I hope to use technology, such as online counseling, educational videos, and mental health apps, to reach more people. I also want to teach coping strategies and self-care skills so people can handle stress and challenges better. My experiences give me a unique perspective, and I want to help remove barriers so everyone can get the mental health care they need to feel supported, confident, and capable.
    Zedikiah Randolph Memorial Scholarship
My name is Mohammad, and my life changed greatly when I moved from Bangladesh to the United States in 2022 at the age of twelve. I arrived without knowing English, and school was very difficult for me. I often sat in class confused, unable to understand what the teacher was saying. Sometimes classmates laughed at my accent, and I felt embarrassed and alone. But I never gave up. I practiced English every day, watched videos, listened carefully, and kept trying. Slowly, I began to understand more, speak more confidently, and eventually passed all of my Regents exams. This experience taught me patience, strength, and the importance of working hard even when life feels impossible. These challenges helped me choose my degree path. I want to study business, finance, or accounting because these fields give people power to take control of their future. When my family first came to America, everything about money felt confusing. Rent, bills, banks, taxes, credit, savings, and financial planning were all new to us. I realized how important financial knowledge is, especially for immigrant families like mine. I want to understand this field deeply so I can help people make strong decisions and not feel lost like we once did. In the world of finance and accounting, people with my background are still underrepresented. Many statistics show that immigrants, South Asians, and especially students who come from low-income families make up a small percentage of professionals in these fields. Even though I do not have an exact national percentage, I know that students like me are not commonly seen in higher level business and accounting careers. This motivates me even more. I want to be part of that growing percentage and help increase it. I plan to make an impact on my community by supporting immigrant families, new students, and small business owners who struggle to understand financial systems. I want to guide them through budgeting, savings, and long term planning so they can build stability. I also want to help young people in my community understand the importance of financial literacy early in life. Many students, especially those who come from low income or immigrant households, do not receive enough guidance about money. I want to change that by mentoring, tutoring, and teaching financial basics. My goal is not just to succeed for myself but to open doors for the next generation. I want students who come after me to look at my journey and believe that they can achieve even more. If I can show them that someone who did not know English, someone who started from nothing, someone who came from a low-income background can rise in this field, then I know I will inspire others to continue increasing the odds.
Robert F. Lawson Fund for Careers that Care
My name is Mohammad, and my journey has shaped me into someone who wants to make a positive impact on the world. I came to the United States from Bangladesh in 2022 when I was twelve years old. At that time, I did not know English at all. Everything around me felt confusing and new. The language, the people, the classrooms, and even the school rules were very different from what I knew in Bangladesh. In my first months of school, I often sat in class feeling lost. I could not answer questions, and sometimes other students laughed at my accent. It hurt, but I refused to give up. I practiced English every day, watched videos online, listened carefully to my teachers, and kept trying again and again. Over time, my hard work paid off. I began to understand my lessons, speak more confidently, and eventually passed all of my Regents exams. These challenges taught me to be patient, strong, and determined. As I went through these difficult experiences, I learned something very important. Caring about other people can make a huge difference. My family has always supported me, even when life was stressful. My parents work very hard every day so I can have a better future. My teachers also played a big role. They explained lessons when I struggled, encouraged me when I felt discouraged, and showed me kindness. Because I received so much help from others, I want to choose a career that allows me to help people too. I plan to study business, finance, or accounting in college. I want a career where I can support families, small businesses, and people from immigrant backgrounds like mine. Many immigrant families face financial stress because they do not fully understand the American financial system. I want to help them with budgeting, saving, and making smart financial decisions. I want to guide them through challenges and make them feel more secure. If I can help people feel more confident about their money and future, then I will know I made a positive impact. I also want to continue supporting students who face challenges like I once did. I already help my classmates with math, assignments, and even technology when they need it. In the future, I want to expand this by mentoring youth, volunteering, or helping new immigrant students feel welcome. I want them to know they are not alone and that they can succeed just like I did. My journey has taught me empathy, leadership, and the power of caring. I want my future career to reflect those values and allow me to lift others the same way people lifted me. I am committed to making a positive impact on my community and the world around me.
    Lotus Scholarship
Coming from a low income household has taught me to stay strong, work hard, and never give up. When my family moved from Bangladesh to the United States in 2022, life became even more challenging. My parents worked long hours just to cover rent, food, and basic needs. There were many times when money was tight, and I worried about how my family would manage. Because of this, I learned to be independent, responsible, and focused, even when things were difficult. Not knowing English when I arrived made school very hard. I could not understand my teachers, and sometimes other students laughed at my accent. But I kept practicing every day, watched videos, listened to my teachers, and pushed myself. Over time, I improved, passed all my Regents exams, and became proud of my progress. These challenges taught me that my situation does not define my future. What matters is the effort I put in. I want to use my life experiences to make a positive impact in my community. I know how it feels to struggle, so I want to help other students, especially immigrants, who feel lost like I once did. I already help classmates with homework, explain math problems, and show them how to use technology. In the future, I want to study business and become someone who can support my family and give back to my community. My journey taught me patience, leadership, and compassion, and I plan to use these qualities to inspire others and prove that hard work can change a life.
    Justin Moeller Memorial Scholarship
I came to the United States from Bangladesh in 2022 when I was twelve years old, and my whole life changed. I did not know English, I did not understand the school system, and even simple things like using a Chromebook in class felt confusing at first. But as I learned more and became more confident, I discovered that technology was something I truly enjoyed working with. Technology made learning easier for me when English was hard, and it helped me understand subjects through videos, translations, and online tools. Because of this, I became interested in the technology field and how computers can help people learn, connect, and solve problems. What interests me most about technology is how fast it grows and how many different uses it has. Technology can make communication easier, help businesses stay organized, protect information, and even support people in healthcare or education. I am especially interested in information technology because I like solving problems and helping people understand how to use devices. When I did not know English, technology was the thing that helped me move forward. Now I want to learn more about how computers work, how networks stay safe, and how information is stored and protected. In school, I have used technology in many ways. I completed projects using Google Classroom, Slides, and online research tools. I also helped classmates who did not understand how to use Chromebooks or different apps. During lunch and after school, I often assisted my friends with typing assignments, fixing small technical issues, or finding online resources. Even though I was not part of a formal technology club, I naturally acted like a helper for anything computer related. This made me realize that I enjoy guiding people and solving digital problems. It also showed me that information technology is a field where I can grow and support others. Outside of school, I used technology to improve my English and study for Regents exams. I watched YouTube lessons, used translation apps, and practiced math and science on educational websites. These tools helped me pass all my Regents exams, which made me very proud. Technology played a huge role in my success and made me want to learn more about it in the future. As I continue my education, I want to explore information technology more deeply. I hope to learn about cybersecurity, computer networks, and systems management. My goal is to use my skills to help schools, businesses, or communities stay safe and organized. Technology helped me build a stronger future, and now I want to use it to help others do the same.
    Future Green Leaders Scholarship
Sustainability should be a priority in every field, including business, which is the career path I hope to follow. As someone who wants to study business, finance, or accounting in college, I believe that the future of our economy depends on making choices that protect the environment. Businesses have a powerful role in shaping how people use resources, how much waste we create, and how we treat the planet. If companies focus only on profit, the environment will continue to suffer. But if business leaders think about sustainability, we can protect natural resources, improve communities, and create a healthier world for future generations. Growing up in Bangladesh taught me a lot about the importance of protecting the environment. In many places, pollution is high, clean water is limited, and weather patterns are changing. When I came to the United States in 2022, I noticed how much cleaner and more organized the environment is. This made me realize that strong environmental policies and responsible businesses make a big difference. I want to be part of that positive change by promoting sustainable practices through my future career in business. In the future, I see myself making an impact by encouraging companies to adopt environmentally friendly strategies. For example, businesses can reduce waste by using recyclable materials, lowering energy use, and designing products that last longer. They can also support renewable energy sources, such as solar or wind power, instead of depending only on fossil fuels. As someone interested in accounting and finance, I want to show businesses that sustainable choices are not only good for the planet but can also save money and build a stronger reputation. I also hope to help small businesses, especially those in immigrant communities, understand the importance of sustainability. Many small business owners work very hard but do not always have access to information about environmental practices. I want to use my knowledge to guide them in reducing waste, choosing eco friendly suppliers, and creating cleaner and safer neighborhoods. My journey from Bangladesh to the United States taught me that we must take care of the earth if we want a better future. Climate change affects real people and real communities. By studying business and becoming a responsible leader, I want to use my profession to reduce environmental impact and help create a world where economic success and environmental protection go hand in hand. Sustainability is not just an idea to me. It is a responsibility, and I am committed to being part of the solution.
District 27-A2 Lions Diabetes Awareness Scholarship
My experience with diabetes comes from watching my mom live with it every day. Even though I do not have diabetes myself, her struggle has shaped who I am and how I see the world. When I first came to the United States from Bangladesh, I did not understand much about health or medical conditions. I was still learning English and adjusting to a new life. During this time, I began to notice how my mom had to deal with her diabetes, and it made me see how serious and life changing this condition can be. At first, I did not fully understand why she tested her blood sugar so often or why she had to be careful about the foods she ate. I only saw that she got tired easily and sometimes felt weak. As I grew older, I paid more attention. I started helping her by reading food labels, reminding her about her medicine, and making sure she did not skip meals. I also went with her to doctor appointments to help translate when the English was difficult for her. These moments taught me patience and responsibility. They helped me understand that taking care of someone you love is one of the most important things in life. Seeing my mom deal with diabetes taught me that health challenges affect the whole family. There were days when she was stressed or not feeling well, and I would worry about her. These experiences made me more mature. They taught me to stay calm and supportive instead of panicking. I learned that diabetes is not something that people can simply ignore. It needs careful attention every single day, and that can be exhausting. This experience has also impacted how I think about my future. It made me more aware of my own health and the health of those around me. I want to live a life where I can support people in my community, especially those who face medical challenges like my mom. Her experience motivates me to keep learning, to stay strong, and to push forward even when life becomes difficult. In college, I hope to continue this mindset. I want to study business and one day be successful enough to take care of my family and give them a better life. The lessons I learned from my mom’s diabetes will guide me as I grow older. They taught me compassion, discipline, responsibility, and the importance of standing by the people you love. Her strength has helped shape mine, and I know this experience will continue to influence the person I become in the future.
    American Dream Scholarship
My definition of the American dream is the opportunity to work hard, achieve your goals, and create a better life for yourself and your family. The American dream is not just about money or success. It is about having the freedom to learn, grow, and follow your dreams no matter where you come from or what challenges you face. For me, the American dream is the chance to take the opportunities given to me and use them to become the best version of myself while helping others along the way. I came to the United States from Bangladesh in 2022 when I was twelve years old. I did not know any English, and everything in school was new and confusing. At first, I felt lost and frustrated because I could not understand my teachers or answer questions in class. Sometimes other students laughed at my accent, and I felt embarrassed. However, I never gave up. I practiced English every day, listened carefully, watched videos, and read books. Slowly, I improved and started speaking and writing confidently. Passing all my Regents exams was a proud moment because it showed me that hard work and determination can help you achieve your dreams, even in a new country. For me, the American dream also includes education. The United States gives people the chance to learn and grow in ways that were not always possible in my home country. I want to study business and accounting in college because I enjoy numbers and solving problems. I believe that learning these skills will help me build a career, support my family, and create opportunities for others. Education is the key to achieving the American dream because it opens doors and allows people to reach their full potential. Sports and teamwork are also part of my American dream. Playing soccer as a defender and competing in school badminton tournaments has taught me discipline, determination, and leadership. One soccer game I will never forget is when our team was losing badly in the first half. I encouraged my teammates to stay positive and work together. In the second half, we came back and won the game. That experience showed me that teamwork and determination can help you overcome challenges, which is a lesson that applies to life, school, and work. The American dream is about opportunity, hard work, and hope. It is about being able to follow your goals, improve yourself, and make a difference in your community. My journey from Bangladesh to the United States taught me that dreams are possible if you are willing to work for them. I believe that with dedication, patience, and persistence, I can achieve my goals and live the American dream while inspiring others to do the same.
    Gabriel Martin Memorial Annual Scholarship
My name is Mohammad Rahat Mollah, and I want to share how medical conditions have affected my life and how they have shaped my goals for the future. I have dealt with asthma and seasonal allergies for most of my life. These conditions have made some parts of my daily life challenging, but they have also taught me important lessons about patience, discipline, and taking care of myself. When I was younger, asthma made it difficult to participate in physical activities like sports. Sometimes I would feel short of breath or have to sit out during soccer practice or games, which was frustrating because I love being active. I also have seasonal allergies that affect my breathing, energy, and concentration during school. On some days, it would be hard to focus in class because I was sneezing or coughing, and sometimes I had to take extra medicine or visit the nurse. At first, I felt limited by these conditions, and it was discouraging to see other students do things I could not always do. However, I learned to manage my health carefully and not let these challenges stop me. I follow my doctors’ advice, take my medications on time, and pay attention to my body’s needs. I also work on building my stamina slowly through safe exercises, like jogging or light soccer practice. These experiences taught me discipline, self-care, and the importance of asking for help when needed. I realized that challenges do not have to stop me from reaching my goals; instead, they can make me stronger and more determined. Because of my experiences with asthma and allergies, I have developed a strong sense of empathy and patience. I understand how hard it can be to face challenges that others may not notice, and I try to be supportive of friends or classmates who are struggling with their own difficulties. This has helped me become a better teammate in sports, a helpful classmate in school, and a caring member of my community. My goals for the future are focused on studying business and accounting in college. I want to use my skills in numbers, problem-solving, and organization to help others manage resources, make smart financial decisions, and build successful businesses. I also want to continue playing sports like soccer and badminton because staying active helps me maintain my health and stay positive. Managing my medical conditions has taught me that careful planning, patience, and persistence are important, and these lessons will help me in both my education and my career. Overall, my medical conditions have shaped who I am today. They have taught me to work hard, take care of myself, and never give up. I believe that with determination, focus, and self-discipline, I can reach my goals and make a positive impact on my community and the world.

My name is Mohammad Rahat Mollah, and I came to the United States from Bangladesh in 2022 when I was twelve years old. Moving to a new country was very challenging for me. I could not speak English, and everything about school was different and confusing. I remember sitting in class, not understanding what the teacher was saying, and feeling embarrassed when I could not answer questions. Sometimes other students laughed at my accent, which made me feel nervous and shy. At first, I thought I would never catch up. However, I decided not to give up. I practiced English every day by listening to my teachers, watching videos, and reading books. Slowly, I began to understand and speak English. Passing all of my Regents exams was a proud moment for me because it showed that hard work, patience, and persistence can help overcome any challenge. My journey from Bangladesh to the United States taught me that no matter how hard life may seem, it is possible to succeed if you keep trying and stay determined. Faith has always been an important part of my life. I regularly attend church and participate in youth programs and community events. Although I am not the child of a pastor, my church has given me guidance and support. I have volunteered at church events, helped younger students with their learning, and supported my community in small ways. These experiences have shown me the value of compassion, kindness, and service. I have learned that even small actions, like helping someone read or listening when a friend needs support, can make a big difference. Being involved in my church has encouraged me to develop leadership skills and take responsibility, while also being humble and considerate of others. In the future, I want to study business and accounting. I enjoy working with numbers, solving problems, and helping people understand how money and resources work. My goal is to use my education and career to make a positive impact on the world. I want to help families, businesses, and communities manage resources wisely and make better financial decisions. Through my career, I hope to show that hard work, honesty, and patience can lead to success, and I want to inspire others to keep trying even when things seem difficult. Sports and teamwork have also shaped how I approach life. Playing soccer as a defender and competing in school badminton tournaments taught me discipline, determination, and how to work with others. I believe that my education, faith, and dedication will allow me to help people, support my community, and inspire others to never give up. I am proud of how far I have come, and I am ready to continue moving forward with determination, patience, and faith.
    Individualized Education Pathway Scholarship
When I first came to the United States from Bangladesh in 2022, I faced many challenges in school because I could not speak English. Learning a new language while also learning new subjects was very difficult. Even though I did not have a formal learning disability, I struggled to understand lessons and to complete assignments, which made me feel frustrated and sometimes discouraged. Reading textbooks, understanding instructions, and taking notes in a language I did not know well were some of the hardest challenges I faced. My teachers noticed my struggles and helped me by giving extra support and explanations. This support was similar to an Individualized Education Plan because it helped me learn in a way that worked for me. One challenge I faced was keeping up with the class when other students spoke and read quickly in English. At first, I felt embarrassed and sometimes did not participate in class because I was afraid of making mistakes. Another challenge was understanding the vocabulary in subjects like U.S. History. Many words were difficult, and I often had to look up the meaning to understand the lessons. These challenges made me feel like giving up sometimes, but I was motivated to keep going because I wanted to succeed and make my parents proud. I overcame these challenges by working hard every day. I practiced English by watching videos, reading books, and listening carefully to my teachers. I also asked questions when I did not understand and spent extra time reviewing lessons. Slowly, I began to improve. I started participating more in class, helping other students when I could, and gaining confidence in my abilities. Passing all of my Regents exams was one of the proudest moments in my life because it showed me that patience and hard work can overcome even the biggest challenges. What motivates me to continue my education is my goal of studying business and accounting in college. I want to learn how numbers, money, and teamwork work together to help people and businesses succeed. I also want to continue helping others, especially students who are new to this country or who struggle with English. My experience with challenges in school taught me that learning is possible if you are determined and persistent. I know that college will bring new challenges, but I am ready to face them because I have already learned how to overcome difficulties, work hard, and stay patient. I believe that my journey shows that challenges can be turned into opportunities. My experience has prepared me for higher education, and I am motivated to keep learning, helping others, and achieving my dreams.
    David Foster Memorial Scholarship
One high school teacher who deeply influenced me and changed how I approach my life is my English teacher. When I first came to the United States from Bangladesh in 2022, I was twelve years old and could not speak any English. Everything around me was new, confusing, and scary. I remember sitting in class, not understanding anything, and feeling embarrassed when other students laughed at my accent. But my English teacher never gave up on me. She treated me with kindness, respect, and patience, even when I struggled to speak or write a simple sentence. She believed in me before I believed in myself, and that changed everything. In the beginning, I was shy and afraid to talk. My teacher would always encourage me to raise my hand and try. She told me that making mistakes is a part of learning. When I stayed quiet, she would smile and remind me that my voice mattered. Slowly, I began to trust her and to try harder. She spent extra time helping me after class, showing me how to pronounce words and how to write complete sentences. Sometimes she would ask me to read short stories out loud, even if I made mistakes. She would say, “Don’t worry, Mohammad. Every word you speak makes you stronger.” That sentence stuck with me. It helped me not only in English class but also in my life. It taught me that every small step forward matters, no matter how slow it is. Because of her support, I started to watch English videos, read books, and practice speaking every day. My teacher’s patience made me believe that learning takes time and that effort is more important than being perfect. Over time, I improved my English and began to help other students who were new to the language. I became more confident and started speaking in class, writing essays, and even helping my friends with homework. Passing all my Regents exams was a proud moment, and I know I could not have done it without my English teacher’s guidance. She did not only teach me grammar and vocabulary. She taught me to stay patient, to believe in myself, and to keep working hard no matter what. She showed me that teachers can change lives with their kindness and encouragement. Because of her, I now want to be the kind of person who helps others when they struggle. I learned that true success comes from never giving up and from supporting people along the way. My English teacher’s lessons will stay with me forever, and I will always be grateful for how she changed my life.

My name is Mohammad Rahat Mollah, and I came to the United States from Bangladesh in 2022 when I was twelve years old. Moving to a new country was not easy. I did not know how to speak English, and I felt lost in school. At first, I could not understand what the teachers were saying, and sometimes other students laughed at my accent. Even though it was hard, I never gave up. I practiced every day, listened carefully, and learned little by little. Now, I can speak and write English well, and I am proud of how far I have come. This journey taught me the importance of hard work, patience, and believing in yourself. In my community, I try my best to give back and help others, especially students who are new to this country just like I once was. I help my classmates with their homework, especially in math, because that is my favorite subject. I also explain English words to students who are still learning the language. I know how hard it can be to feel lost or shy in a new place, so I try to make them feel welcome. I also take part in school activities, like soccer and badminton, which help me build teamwork and leadership skills. Sports have taught me how to stay disciplined, support others, and keep a positive attitude. As I enter higher education, my family and I face financial challenges. My parents work very hard every day to support me and my siblings, but paying for college will be difficult for us. We are an immigrant family trying to build a better life, and every dollar counts. I want to study business and accounting because I enjoy numbers and problem-solving, and I want to use these skills to help my family and my community in the future. This scholarship would help me pay for tuition, books, and other school needs so I can focus on my education and continue working toward my goals. I also care about keeping children and youth safe from bullying and cyberbullying. I have seen how mean comments or jokes online can hurt people deeply. When I see someone being bullied, I speak up or tell a teacher or adult who can help. I remind others that words can have real effects and that kindness is stronger than hate. I also help my younger friends understand how to use social media safely and not to share personal information online. It is important to make sure that everyone feels safe both in person and on the internet. I believe that helping others, showing respect, and standing up against bullying are all part of building a better and kinder community. My experiences have taught me to never give up, to stay kind, and to keep working hard. I hope to continue learning, helping, and making a positive difference in my community and beyond.
    Big Picture Scholarship
The movie that has had the greatest impact on my life is The Good Doctor. It is not only a TV show but also a story that changed the way I see myself and others. The main character, Shaun Murphy, is a young doctor who has autism. Even though people around him often doubt his abilities, he never gives up. He keeps working hard to prove that he can help others and be a great doctor. Watching this story made me think deeply about challenges, determination, and believing in yourself. When I first watched The Good Doctor, I was going through a hard time adjusting to life in the United States. I had come from Bangladesh when I was twelve years old and did not know how to speak English. Every day at school felt confusing, and sometimes I felt embarrassed when people laughed at my accent or when I could not answer questions in class. Just like Shaun, I often felt different and misunderstood. But seeing how he stayed strong even when others doubted him made me realize that I could do the same. I learned that what makes someone special is not how perfect they are, but how much they try and how much heart they put into their work. The message of The Good Doctor taught me the value of patience, kindness, and hard work. Shaun does not let fear or judgment stop him from reaching his goals. He studies harder, practices more, and focuses on helping others. I started to follow that same attitude in my own life. I practiced English every day, listened to my teachers carefully, and never gave up even when things were hard. Slowly, I began to understand more and speak better. When I finally passed all my Regents exams, I felt proud because I had worked for it just like Shaun worked to become a great doctor. Another thing I learned from this movie is that everyone has their own struggles, even if they look strong on the outside. It reminded me to be kind to others because we never know what they are going through. It also inspired me to keep helping people, especially students who are new to this country, because I know how hard it feels to start from nothing. The Good Doctor is more than just a show to me; it is a lesson about life. It showed me that no matter where you come from or what challenges you face, you can still achieve your dreams if you keep believing in yourself. It gave me hope during a time when I needed it the most. Now, whenever I face a problem, I remember Shaun’s courage and remind myself that I can overcome anything if I keep trying.
    Uniball's Skilled Trades Scholarship
When I think about my future, I see myself working in the field of business and accounting. I have always loved numbers, solving problems, and understanding how money works. Ever since I came to the United States, math has been the subject that made me feel confident. It was a language I could understand even when my English was weak. I enjoyed helping my classmates with math problems during lunch and after school. Teaching others made me realize that I like explaining ideas and helping people learn. Business and accounting fit perfectly with my interests because they involve both numbers and real-life decision making. I want to study this trade because I believe it will give me the skills to help my family, support my community, and maybe one day start my own business. After finishing my trade education, my goal is to work in the finance or accounting field. I want to gain real experience in how companies manage money, plan budgets, and make smart financial choices. I also hope to continue studying and growing in this area because I know learning never stops. In the future, I want to start my own business that can give jobs to others and help my community. I also want to help my parents because they have worked very hard for me since the day we came to this country. They have sacrificed a lot, and I want to make them proud by becoming successful and responsible. Even when I am busy with work, I still plan to keep playing soccer and badminton because sports remind me to stay disciplined, work as a team, and never give up. One of the hardest times in my life was when I came to the United States from Bangladesh in 2022. I was only twelve years old, and I did not know how to speak English. Everything felt strange, from the language to the school system. I remember sitting in class, not understanding anything the teacher said. Sometimes students laughed at my accent, and I felt embarrassed and lonely. It was a painful time, but I refused to give up. Every day I practiced English by listening to my teachers, watching videos, and reading small books. Slowly, I started to understand and speak more confidently. After years of hard work, I passed all my Regents exams, which made me feel very proud. That experience taught me that patience, hard work, and believing in yourself can help you overcome anything. It showed me that challenges are not the end, but the beginning of success. Through my journey, I learned that success takes time and effort. My story from Bangladesh to the United States is proof that dedication works. I know the road ahead will have more challenges, but I am ready for them. I want to keep learning, growing, and helping others. I believe that with the right attitude and determination, I can achieve my dream and make a positive difference in the world.
Raise Me Up to DO GOOD Scholarship
Growing up in a single-parent family has taught me many lessons that shaped who I am today. My parent worked very hard to take care of me and to give me a good life. There were times when things were not easy. Sometimes we had to make sacrifices, but my parent always reminded me to stay positive and keep working toward my dreams. Seeing their strength and love made me realize the importance of hard work, kindness, and helping others. When I was younger, I did not always understand why my parent had to work so much or why we could not always have the same things as other families. As I got older, I began to understand how strong and brave my parent was. They carried both the roles of a mother and father with love and patience. They never complained even when they were tired, and that taught me what real strength looks like. It made me want to be strong too. Because of my experience, I learned to be more responsible and understanding. I help at home, take care of small things without being asked, and try my best to do well in school. I also learned to appreciate everything we have, even the little things. Growing up this way made me value people more than things. I believe that love, care, and kindness are worth more than anything money can buy. Being in a single-parent family also taught me empathy. I understand how it feels to go through challenges, so I try to be kind to others who might be struggling. I like to volunteer at school and help my classmates when they need support. I believe that doing good, no matter how small, can change someone’s day. In the future, I want to use what I have learned to do good and help others. I am not sure yet what career I will have, but I know I want to make a difference. Maybe I will work in a job where I can support families, help children, or serve my community. What matters most to me is using my talents and my voice to make life better for others. Being raised by a single parent showed me the power of love, strength, and determination. It taught me that one person can make a big difference. I want to carry that lesson into the future and continue to spread hope, kindness, and understanding wherever I go.
It Takes A Village “Bayanihan” Scholarship
The word bayanihan means helping each other as one community. It is a Filipino value that shows kindness, teamwork, and care for others. Growing up in the Philippines, I saw bayanihan everywhere. Neighbors helped one another, families shared food, and people worked together during hard times. When my family moved to another country, I carried this value with me and tried to live by it every day. My immigration journey was not easy. When we first arrived, everything felt new and confusing. The language, the culture, and even the weather were very different from what I was used to. I missed my home, my friends, and the feeling of belonging. There were times when I felt lonely and scared, but remembering bayanihan helped me stay strong. It reminded me that even if I was far from home, I could still build a community through kindness, understanding, and helping others. At school, I practiced bayanihan by volunteering, helping classmates who struggled with English, and joining community events. I also helped my parents by translating when they needed to talk to other people. I learned that bayanihan is not only about carrying a neighbor’s house like in old stories. It is about carrying each other’s burdens with love and care. Because of bayanihan, I have learned to be strong, humble, and compassionate. It taught me that no one succeeds alone and that helping others is a way of honoring where I come from. My dream is to continue this spirit wherever I go. I want to serve others, give back to my community, and show that the Filipino heart shines brightest when we lift one another up.
    Learner Math Lover Scholarship
My love for mathematics comes from the way it combines logic, creativity, and discovery. From an early age, I was fascinated by how numbers could explain patterns in the world, from the symmetry of nature to the structure of technology. Math gives me a sense of clarity and purpose because every problem has a solution that can be reached through persistence and reasoning. It teaches me that challenges are not barriers but opportunities to think differently. What I appreciate most about mathematics is its balance between precision and imagination. It requires careful attention to detail while also encouraging innovative thinking. Solving a complex equation or finding a new method feels like uncovering a hidden truth and reminds me that even the most difficult problems can be understood. This mindset has shaped how I approach challenges beyond the classroom, teaching me patience, perseverance, and analytical thinking. Mathematics also connects deeply to the world around me. It forms the foundation of science, engineering, and technology, which are the tools that drive progress and shape the future. By studying math, I feel that I am learning a universal language that allows me to understand and contribute to the systems that keep our world functioning. Ultimately, I love math because it empowers me. It shows me that with logic, creativity, and determination, any problem can be solved. The confidence and curiosity that mathematics has given me continue to inspire my academic goals and my desire to pursue a field where I can use numbers to calculate, create, innovate, and make a meaningful impact.

My name is Mohammad, and my experience with sepsis has had a profound impact on my life, shaping my perspective, priorities, and aspirations. Sepsis, a life-threatening response to infection, was not something I expected to face, yet it became a defining moment in my journey. The experience brought uncertainty, fear, and physical challenges, but it also taught me resilience, the value of support systems, and the importance of perseverance. When I was diagnosed with sepsis, I quickly realized how fragile life can be and how important it is to take every moment seriously. The illness disrupted daily routines, school, and activities I once took for granted, forcing me to slow down and focus on recovery. Facing medical challenges at a young age was difficult, but it taught me patience and discipline. I had to learn to advocate for myself, communicate clearly with healthcare providers, and adhere to strict care plans to ensure my recovery. These skills—self-advocacy, attention to detail, and persistence—have shaped the way I approach both academic and personal challenges. The experience also strengthened my connection with family, friends, and my community. During my illness, I saw how much care and support can make a difference in someone’s recovery. My family worked tirelessly to support me emotionally and physically, and my friends offered encouragement, understanding, and compassion. This taught me the value of relationships, empathy, and the importance of giving back. It also inspired me to consider how I can use my experiences to help others facing medical challenges, both through direct support and by raising awareness about serious conditions like sepsis. My experience with sepsis has influenced my educational and career aspirations. I am motivated to pursue a field where I can make a meaningful difference in healthcare, public health, or patient advocacy. I want to contribute to improving awareness, prevention, and care for conditions that can be life-threatening if not addressed promptly. Experiencing sepsis has given me insight into the patient perspective—understanding fear, uncertainty, and the need for support—which I hope to bring to my future career. My goal is to use my education to help others navigate medical challenges, provide guidance, and advocate for better healthcare practices and policies. Receiving a scholarship would help me focus fully on my education, allowing me to dedicate my energy to learning, gaining practical experience, and preparing to make an impact in healthcare or related fields. It would provide financial support to reduce stress and allow me to participate in programs, research, or initiatives that enhance my knowledge and ability to help others. While sepsis was a difficult and life-changing experience, it taught me resilience, compassion, and the importance of turning challenges into opportunities to grow and support others. This experience continues to shape who I am today and motivates me to pursue a path where I can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Living with a mast cell-related condition has turned my world upside down in ways that are both challenging and transformative. Daily life can feel unpredictable, with symptoms that flare without warning and require constant awareness and adaptation. This condition has caused strain in my family, altered routines, and even impacted friendships, as not everyone can understand the limitations it imposes. Yet, amidst the struggles, I have discovered blessings I might never have encountered without this experience—moments, people, and insights that have shaped who I am and how I approach life. One of the things I am most grateful for is the sense of resilience and patience that my condition has forced me to develop. Living with unpredictability has taught me to adapt quickly, plan ahead, and find creative solutions to problems. I have learned how to advocate for myself in medical, academic, and social settings, building skills in communication, organization, and self-advocacy that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Without this experience, I may have taken patience and problem-solving for granted. Instead, I now see every challenge as an opportunity to learn, grow, and persevere. I am also grateful for the people I have met because of my condition. I have connected with doctors, specialists, and support groups who understand the unique challenges of mast cell disease. More importantly, I have met other patients and families navigating similar journeys. These connections have provided encouragement, friendship, and inspiration, forming a community built on empathy and shared experiences. Without this condition, I might never have understood the strength and resilience that exist within a community of people facing medical challenges. These relationships have shown me the value of compassion, patience, and listening—qualities I now strive to bring to every interaction in my life. Another aspect I am grateful for is the heightened appreciation for the simple joys of life. When daily routines or social events are disrupted by my health, I have learned to find meaning in small victories—finishing a school assignment on time, enjoying a day with friends, or simply having a symptom-free moment. I have learned to celebrate progress rather than perfection, and to approach life with gratitude, even in difficult circumstances. This perspective allows me to focus on what truly matters: relationships, growth, and making the most of every day. Finally, living with mast cell disease has inspired me to help others facing challenges of their own. I am motivated to use my experiences to raise awareness, provide support, and advocate for individuals with invisible illnesses. This condition has given me empathy and insight I could not have gained otherwise, shaping my goals and giving me a sense of purpose. While mast cell disease presents hardships, it has also opened doors to resilience, understanding, and meaningful connections. I am grateful for the lessons, people, and perspective it has brought into my life, and I carry them with me as I continue to grow, learn, and support others in meaningful ways.
    Williams Foundation Trailblazer Scholarship
Throughout my life, I have been motivated by a desire to create opportunities and support systems for individuals in marginalized and underserved communities. Recognizing that access to resources, mentorship, and guidance is often limited for these populations, I have taken the initiative to develop projects that address specific needs and create meaningful impact. One of the most rewarding experiences has been designing and implementing programs that combine innovation, collaboration, and community engagement to improve access to education, mentorship, and social support. One project I initiated was a mentorship and tutoring program for students in under-resourced schools. Many of the students I worked with struggled to access academic support outside of the classroom, and I saw an opportunity to create a structured program that would provide guidance, academic assistance, and encouragement. I developed lesson plans, coordinated with local educators, and recruited peers to serve as tutors and mentors. Through weekly sessions, students received help with homework, test preparation, and skill-building exercises, while also learning strategies for goal-setting, time management, and self-confidence. The program empowered students to improve academically and feel supported in ways they had not experienced before. In addition to the tutoring program, I created a small technology initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide in underserved communities. Many families lacked access to reliable devices or online resources for education, which became especially apparent during periods of remote learning. I organized a donation drive to collect devices, set up basic training sessions for students and families, and created step-by-step guides for using online learning platforms. By combining resource collection with education, I was able to provide tools and skills that allowed students to continue learning effectively, despite technological barriers. Both of these initiatives taught me the importance of innovation, organization, and collaboration when addressing the unique challenges faced by underserved populations. I learned to identify gaps in support, develop solutions, and adapt my approach based on feedback and outcomes. I also learned the significance of building trust within communities and maintaining consistent communication to ensure projects meet actual needs rather than assumptions. These experiences reinforced my belief that meaningful change requires both creativity and dedication, as well as a deep understanding of the communities being served. Looking forward, I plan to continue developing initiatives that support marginalized populations, whether through education, technology access, or community programs. I aspire to use my education to expand these projects on a larger scale, creating sustainable solutions and empowering others to advocate for themselves. By providing access, mentorship, and resources, I hope to help underserved individuals overcome systemic barriers and achieve their full potential. Receiving this scholarship would allow me to further these efforts, providing resources and opportunities to expand my projects, gain advanced skills, and dedicate more time to impactful work. My experiences designing self-initiated programs have shown me that even small actions can create meaningful change, and I am committed to leveraging my education and skills to continue serving marginalized communities in innovative and lasting ways.

Pursuing higher education has been a journey full of challenges, lessons, and growth. Growing up in a single-parent household, I witnessed firsthand the difficulties of balancing family responsibilities, financial constraints, and personal ambitions. There were times when basic needs, such as school supplies, textbooks, and access to extracurricular programs, were difficult to afford. At the same time, I had to learn how to manage my time effectively, balancing part-time jobs, family responsibilities, and schoolwork. These experiences taught me resilience, determination, and the value of hard work—qualities that have shaped my approach to education and life. One of the greatest obstacles I faced was the financial burden associated with higher education. College costs, application fees, and academic materials can be overwhelming for students from low-income backgrounds. I am particularly committed to giving back through community service and outreach programs. Volunteering in tutoring programs, mentoring younger students, and participating in local initiatives has shown me the power of support and guidance in helping others succeed. Through my future career, I hope to expand these efforts on a larger scale, addressing systemic barriers and creating sustainable opportunities for those who may not have access to the same resources and encouragement. My ultimate goal is to ensure that other students, regardless of their circumstances, have the tools, support, and confidence they need to pursue higher education and succeed academically, personally, and professionally. Receiving support through this scholarship would not only alleviate financial burdens but also allow me to dedicate more time and energy to both my studies and community initiatives. Transgender Future Scholarship
Accessing education as a transgender/non-binary individual has come with unique challenges that have shaped both my resilience and my commitment to creating opportunities for others. From navigating unsupportive environments to overcoming systemic barriers, I have experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to fully engage in learning when basic acceptance and understanding are not guaranteed. At times, I faced discrimination, misgendering, or limited access to inclusive resources, and I had to learn how to advocate for myself while staying focused on my academic goals. These experiences taught me perseverance, self-advocacy, and the importance of creating safe, equitable spaces for learning. Despite these challenges, I remained determined to pursue my education and make the most of every opportunity. I sought out supportive teachers, mentors, and communities where I could thrive, and I actively participated in programs that promoted inclusivity and personal growth. I have learned to navigate adversity with patience, resourcefulness, and confidence, which has strengthened my commitment to education and to creating pathways for others who may face similar struggles. These experiences have not only shaped who I am today but have also inspired my long-term goals: to ensure that transgender and non-binary individuals have equitable access to education, mentorship, and professional opportunities. I plan to use my education to provide an advantage to future transgender and non-binary students by creating resources, programs, and advocacy initiatives that reduce barriers to learning. Through higher education, I hope to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to address systemic inequities, develop mentorship programs, and provide guidance to students navigating similar challenges. My goal is to establish spaces where transgender and non-binary students feel supported, understood, and empowered to achieve their full potential. I want to ensure that no student has to compromise their identity or education due to lack of acceptance or resources. This scholarship would help me focus on both my studies and my advocacy work without the added burden of financial stress. With this support, I could participate in leadership programs, training opportunities, and community initiatives that allow me to build programs specifically designed to support transgender and non-binary students. I would be able to invest in resources that improve access to education, create mentorship opportunities, and raise awareness about inclusive practices in schools and workplaces. Education has the power to transform lives, but only when access is equitable and safe for everyone. My experiences navigating educational barriers have given me both insight and motivation to be an advocate and mentor for future generations. By pursuing higher education and using the tools and knowledge I gain, I aim to create opportunities, reduce inequities, and empower transgender and non-binary students to succeed academically, personally, and professionally. This scholarship would be a critical step in helping me achieve these goals and in turning my personal experiences into meaningful, lasting impact for others.
Kenneth R. Vessey Jr. Robotics Scholarship
Participating in FRC Robotics has been one of the most formative experiences of my life, shaping both my personal growth and my aspirations for the future. Robotics challenged me to combine technical knowledge, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving in ways I had never encountered before. Each build season, competition, and project pushed me to think critically, adapt to unexpected challenges, and work collaboratively with a team toward a common goal. These experiences have not only deepened my interest in STEM but have also inspired me to pursue a career that allows me to innovate, solve real-world problems, and make a meaningful impact. One of the most important lessons I learned through FRC Robotics is the value of perseverance. Every season presents obstacles—mechanical failures, design flaws, or software glitches—that cannot be solved overnight. I learned to approach these challenges methodically, test solutions, and iterate until the problem was solved. This process taught me resilience and patience, skills that I now carry into both my academics and my personal life. I’ve learned that failure is not a setback but an opportunity to learn, improve, and innovate. FRC also strengthened my teamwork and leadership skills. Working with diverse team members, each with unique strengths and perspectives, required communication, collaboration, and trust. I learned how to delegate responsibilities, mentor younger teammates, and collaborate under pressure, especially during competitions. These experiences reinforced the importance of collaboration and leadership in achieving complex goals. I now see leadership not as simply giving directions, but as motivating, guiding, and supporting a team to reach its full potential. My experiences in robotics have directly shaped my future plans. I am now committed to pursuing a career in [insert field, e.g., engineering, computer science, robotics, or STEM education], where I can continue applying the problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills I developed through FRC. I hope to work on projects that advance technology, improve lives, and encourage others to pursue STEM. Beyond my career, I am passionate about mentoring and inspiring other students, particularly those who may not have had access to robotics programs or STEM opportunities. I want to use my skills and experiences to make STEM education accessible, engaging, and empowering for future generations. Receiving this scholarship would allow me to further my education and invest more time and resources into both my personal development and my outreach efforts. It would help fund higher education, technical projects, and mentorship programs, allowing me to continue pursuing my goals without being limited by financial barriers. FRC Robotics has not only shaped my skills and knowledge but also my vision for the future. It has taught me that creativity, perseverance, and collaboration can solve real-world problems and inspire positive change. I am committed to using the lessons I’ve learned to advance technology, support my community, and pursue a meaningful career that blends innovation with service.

Many students face significant obstacles due to financial hardship, family circumstances, or a lack of access to resources. Despite these challenges, motivated and high-achieving students have the drive, determination, and resilience to succeed if given the right opportunities. Scholarships and grants are essential tools for these students because they provide not only financial support but also recognition and encouragement to continue striving toward their goals. They allow students to focus on their education, personal growth, and community impact rather than being burdened by financial stress, which can often limit potential. Growing up in a single-parent household, I have faced my own share of challenges. My parent worked long hours to support our family, and there were times when basic needs like school supplies, extracurricular activities, or even quiet study space were difficult to afford. Despite these obstacles, I have learned to stay focused on my goals, manage my time effectively, and take initiative when opportunities arise. I have balanced schoolwork with part-time jobs and volunteer work, developing discipline and resilience along the way. Each small success has taught me that effort and persistence can overcome obstacles, and that setbacks are simply opportunities to learn and grow. In school, I have worked hard to excel academically, participating in challenging courses and striving for high grades even when balancing responsibilities at home. I have also sought out opportunities to give back to my community through tutoring programs, mentorship, and volunteer initiatives. These experiences have strengthened my leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, and they have taught me the importance of using one’s abilities to help others. I understand firsthand how access to support and resources can transform a student’s future, and I am committed to using my education to create similar opportunities for others. Receiving this scholarship would significantly alleviate the financial pressures of pursuing higher education, allowing me to focus fully on my studies and community initiatives. It would give me the resources to purchase textbooks, materials, and tools necessary to succeed in my chosen field. More importantly, it would allow me to dedicate more time to developing skills, gaining experiences, and building programs that positively impact others. With this support, I can continue striving for academic excellence, participate in leadership opportunities, and prepare myself to contribute meaningfully to my community. I believe that students from disadvantaged backgrounds deserve opportunities like scholarships because their potential is often limited not by talent or drive, but by circumstance. Financial and institutional support can empower these students to rise above challenges, achieve their goals, and give back to society in meaningful ways. My journey has taught me perseverance, adaptability, and the value of hard work. With the help of this scholarship, I can continue overcoming obstacles, pursuing my dreams, and using my experiences to inspire and support others who face similar struggles.

Growing up in a single-parent household has shaped nearly every part of who I am and how I see the world. Watching my parent work tirelessly to support our family taught me about perseverance, responsibility, and the value of education. There were times when things were difficult financially, and I had to learn early how to stay focused and resourceful. These challenges did not hold me back—they motivated me. I realized that education could open doors not just for me, but also for my family and others facing similar circumstances. The experience of living in a home where resources were limited taught me to make the most of every opportunity and to always work hard for my goals. Being raised by one parent gave me a strong sense of empathy and determination. I saw firsthand how hard it can be to balance everything—work, family, and life’s unexpected struggles—and that taught me to never take opportunities for granted. I also learned to appreciate small victories and milestones, like receiving recognition in school or successfully completing a challenging project. These moments reinforced my belief that hard work and persistence pay off, no matter the obstacles. This mindset has influenced my career goals deeply. I want to pursue a career where I can help others overcome barriers, especially those in underrepresented or struggling communities. Whether through healthcare, education, social work, or community service, I want my work to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people who face challenges similar to mine. Coming from a low-income background has also shown me how important access and equity are. I’ve seen talented, hardworking people miss opportunities simply because of financial limits or lack of guidance. That experience drives my passion to advocate for fairer systems and better resources for families like mine. I’ve volunteered in programs that tutor younger students, mentor peers, and provide school supplies to families in need. Participating in these programs has strengthened my leadership, communication, and organizational skills, and it has reinforced my commitment to helping others achieve their potential. These experiences have also taught me that giving back to your community can be one of the most rewarding ways to make a positive impact. Receiving this scholarship would mean more than financial relief—it would be a symbol of possibility. It would help me pay for college expenses and reduce the stress that comes with balancing school and part-time work. More importantly, it would allow me to dedicate more time to my studies, volunteer activities, and community projects. My ultimate goal is to use my education to give back—to create programs that support families like mine, provide mentorship to students, and prove that where you start does not define where you can go. I want to be a role model who demonstrates that perseverance, empathy, and education can lead to meaningful change.

I have spoken up in classrooms, supported friends experiencing discrimination, and participated in school clubs that promote inclusivity. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to ensuring that LGBTQ+ voices are heard and respected. My aspirations for higher education are centered around both personal growth and advocacy. I envision using my education to develop initiatives that promote inclusivity, combat discrimination, and provide resources for those navigating challenges related to sexual orientation or gender identity. I also hope to create mentorship programs for LGBTQ+ youth, helping them find guidance, confidence, and a sense of belonging that I sometimes lacked growing up. By combining academic knowledge with lived experience, I want to help build safer, more understanding environments in schools, workplaces, and communities. Receiving this scholarship would significantly alleviate the financial burden of higher education, allowing me to focus on my studies, volunteer work, and advocacy initiatives without the stress of balancing excessive work or loans. This scholarship would empower me to continue turning my experiences and challenges into actionable change, amplifying the voices of LGBTQ+ individuals and contributing positively to society as a whole. By supporting my education, this scholarship would not only help me achieve my personal goals but also strengthen my capacity to advocate for equality and justice on a larger scale.

My name is Mohammad, and I am passionate about creating positive change in my community through education and awareness. My project focuses on promoting understanding and dialogue between local youth and law enforcement, helping young people learn about civic engagement, safety, and communication skills. I began this project by hosting small discussion groups at my school, where students could ask questions and share their experiences. We talk about topics like conflict resolution, community responsibility, and how to communicate respectfully with authority figures. I also organize interactive activities, such as role-playing scenarios, teamwork exercises, and problem-solving challenges, to help participants practice communication and decision-making skills. These activities allow students to experience real-life situations in a safe and guided environment, encouraging empathy and understanding on both sides. What inspires me most about this project is the opportunity to make a tangible difference in my community. I have personally seen how misunderstandings between youth and law enforcement can lead to fear and tension, and I wanted to create a program that gives students the tools to engage constructively. Through these workshops, students not only gain knowledge about laws and community resources but also develop confidence, leadership skills, and the ability to work together with peers and adults toward common goals. I believe these skills are essential for building stronger, safer, and more connected neighborhoods. Receiving this scholarship would allow me to expand the program in meaningful ways. With funding, I could purchase educational materials, create multimedia resources, and organize larger workshops for more students and neighborhoods. I also hope to use the scholarship to connect with local law enforcement officers and community leaders to host joint sessions that strengthen relationships and encourage mutual understanding. By tracking participation and collecting feedback, I can continue to improve the program and ensure it meets the needs of students and the community. The support would allow me to turn this small initiative into a program with lasting impact. The theme “Start Small, Dream Big” resonates deeply with my journey. What began as a few conversations with classmates has grown into a structured program with the potential to reach hundreds of students. Starting small taught me the importance of listening, learning, and taking incremental steps toward a larger goal. Dreaming big motivates me to think about long-term impact: I hope my project can inspire other students to take initiative in their communities and become leaders who work for positive change. This scholarship would not only support my project but also affirm the value of small efforts growing into meaningful, lasting change.

Building stronger relationships between law enforcement and the African American community is one of the most important goals our country faces today. For many years, there have been feelings of mistrust, fear, and frustration between both sides. These emotions come from a long history of inequality and misunderstanding, and they have caused pain for many families. However, I believe that by focusing on respect, communication, and education, we can begin to create a safer and more understanding future for everyone. One of the best ways to start improving this relationship is through community involvement. Law enforcement should take the time to connect with people in positive ways, not only during emergencies or arrests. Officers could visit schools, attend neighborhood events, and volunteer in local programs. When police are seen helping out at food drives, school fairs, or youth sports games, it shows that they care about the people they serve. It also helps community members see officers as real people, not just uniforms. These positive interactions build trust and help both sides understand each other better. Another major step is training and education. Police officers should have more training in cultural awareness, bias prevention, and how to handle stressful situations calmly and fairly. Understanding different cultures and life experiences can help officers make better choices in tough moments. This type of training can also remind officers that their role is to protect and serve all people equally. At the same time, community members can learn more about how policing works, so they know what to expect and how to stay safe during interactions. Education on both sides promotes understanding and reduces fear. Representation in law enforcement is also extremely important. Police departments should hire officers from a variety of backgrounds so that their teams reflect the communities they serve. When people see officers who share their culture, language, or experiences, it builds confidence that law enforcement understands and respects their community. It also gives young African Americans role models who show that they can be part of positive change within the system. Finally, communication is the key to lasting improvement. Town hall meetings, youth listening sessions, and community roundtables give people a chance to share their thoughts openly. When law enforcement leaders truly listen to the concerns of African American residents—and take real action based on what they hear—it shows commitment to equality and fairness. In the end, building trust between law enforcement and the African American community takes time, effort, and empathy from both sides. It is not something that will happen overnight, but small actions can make a big difference. If officers and citizens can see each other as partners instead of enemies, we can create safer neighborhoods and stronger relationships. The goal should always be justice, respect, and unity. By working together, we can build a future where everyone feels safe, valued, and heard.

My connection to brain cancer began not through a single moment, but through learning about the devastating impact it has on so many families. The stories of children, parents, and loved ones facing brain cancer opened my eyes to the strength it takes to battle such a disease. Even without direct personal experience, I’ve felt deeply moved by how unpredictable and unfair brain cancer can be, especially because it often affects people in the prime of their lives. This awareness has shaped the way I view health, resilience, and the importance of community support. It has also inspired me to dedicate myself to making a difference through education, advocacy, and empathy. Over the past few years, I’ve tried to contribute in small but meaningful ways. I’ve participated in school and community fundraisers for cancer research, shared educational posts about early detection and symptoms, and volunteered in local health awareness events. These efforts helped me realize that awareness doesn’t just come from big campaigns—it grows from conversations, compassion, and the willingness to learn and share information. Supporting others, even by listening or offering encouragement, has taught me that advocacy begins with empathy. It has strengthened my belief that change starts locally and that even one person can influence others to care and take action. My goal now is to turn that motivation into a lifelong path. I plan to pursue a degree in the medical or health sciences, with a focus on research and community health education. I want to understand more about the causes and treatment of brain cancer, and to use that knowledge to help patients and families navigate their experiences with greater hope and understanding. Beyond science, I also want to help bridge the gap between research and awareness—translating complex medical information into messages people can relate to and act on. Receiving this scholarship would help me continue my education and open opportunities to study brain cancer research more deeply. It would also give me the chance to participate in programs, internships, or outreach projects that promote awareness and patient support. Most importantly, it would reaffirm that my voice and efforts matter—that young people can and should take part in the fight against diseases that affect so many lives. In the future, I hope to combine my education, empathy, and communication skills to help make a lasting impact. Whether through research, patient care, or advocacy, I want to be part of a generation that not only seeks cures but also builds communities of compassion and understanding. Brain cancer is not just a medical issue—it’s a human one. And I’m determined to keep raising awareness, supporting those affected, and contributing to a future where fewer families have to face it alone.
