Hi, my name is Miranda Disbrow, and I want to go into the medical field once I graduate to help people with whatever they need help in. I personally would like to go into the Phlebotomy program and then become a Medical Assistant.
Growing up, my mom was a single parent and struggled to take care of three kids on her own. When she was in school to be a Phlebotomist, our house burned and we lost everything. We didn’t have anything left and we were struggling, we lived with my grandparents for almost five years while my mom worked to get us everything we needed. Once we got a house we were still struggling to pay bills. My mom has been through so much with us as kids and being a single parent of not only one kid but to three kids.
Going to college and getting a degree is something very important to me. I want to be able to get a degree and help my mom with anything she needs. I might not have been able to do help her at the time like I wanted to, but nothing will stop me from helping her now. My sister will be the first to graduate college out of our family and I will follow and be the second to graduate college.
My Highschool years have been probably the hardest years of my life. Growing up I didn’t have a father figure and the older I got the more it hurt knowing I didn’t have that father figure I wanted. I lost three of my uncles due to heart attacks, cancer, and COVID-19. COVID-19 had a really bad impact on my Highschool years, we didn’t get the education we needed to get for a year, then coming back to school in person and getting COVID-19 and having the worst of the worst also hurt as well. I would be happy to have the scholarship to help with my college.
