I love math because it makes education fun. Math was never a "chore" for me, it was simply a fun, exciting challenge. It was and is hard but it is hard in a good way. When I struggle it makes it even more pleasant. Learning something new is enjoyable, it means I am expanding my mind, and struggling only changes me for the better. Whether it was adding, fractions, or factoring I would always struggle, but after trying and failing I would always figure out how to do it. It felt fantastic once I learned, that even though struggling is part of the puzzle I always feel a terrific sense of accomplishment once I figure out how to do it. Figuring it out on my own is even better, it proves that I can do things independently. Math is where I find my peace. I play sudoku for fun, I do not need to use a calculator to figure out which product at the grocery store has a better price, and I can count back money when I am a cashier at my job without struggling in front of the customers. Math will always be my favorite subject and an amusing distraction.

I go to a specialized high school, at first I was in the communication arts and media academy studying graphic design, and now I am studying engineering in sheet metal work and welding, but I do not want to, I want to study culinary arts. My education journey has impacted me greatly, if I did not go to my specialized academy high school I would have never known that I did not want to pursue graphic design or welding. Even though my school does offer culinary with baking and cooking I cannot take any classes because I am too far into my high school career to switch academies. I believe that I would like to pursue hospitality and culinary management so I can own a bakery when I am older. I bake in my free time, trying out different recipes and creating my own. The reason why I love baking so much is because every year around the holidays my family and I make a bunch of different types of cookies to bake and give to our neighbors, family, and friends. Recently my family has fizzled out of it and I have been the only one doing it, but I enjoy it, it is chaotic yet peaceful at the same time. When I bake it feels like what owning a bakery would be like. When I picture my future I see myself with my bakery, but I do not know if that's actually what I want. I thought I wanted to do graphic design and I thought I wanted to do welding but I did not. So, in college, I am going to learn if owning my bakery is actually what I want, if not then I will figure it out because college is the time to figure life out. Scholarships are necessary to go to college. When I am older, hopefully owning my bakery, I am going to need as much money as possible. Entrepreneurs need a lot of money to have a successful business and scholarships will slowly help me save more money to build my future business. I will pay less for college if I get more scholarships. The money that I do not need to use for college from getting scholarships will go toward my bakery so I can live my chaotic and peaceful life. I am not going to be in debt so scholarships will help me achieve my goal for my future.
