I am a sophomore at the University of Florida, part of the Honors Program, studying Applied Physiology and Kinesiology. My lifelong passion for dance, combined with hands-on experiences, has inspired my pursuit of a career as a physical therapist, focusing on rehabilitation and compassionate care.
I’ve gained valuable experience volunteering with Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where I teach dance classes to elderly patients through the Arts in Medicine program. This has shown me the powerful therapeutic effects of movement on physical and emotional health.
As Vice President of the Sabor Latino Dance Team, I’ve developed leadership skills by organizing events and guiding team practices. This role has helped me improve collaboration and management abilities, which I believe will be beneficial in my future career.
Additionally, my work as a recreational gymnastics coach for children ages 3-15 has taught me patience and effective communication, as I create a positive and supportive environment for young athletes to grow physically and mentally.
These experiences have reinforced my passion for helping others through movement, and I am excited to continue pursuing my goal of becoming a physical therapist.
