A immigrant girl from a low income family, really needs scholarships for my PharmD studies. I am currently in my P3 year of pharmacy at Long Island University. and try to get a dual degree for PharmD and also MS in Cosmetic Sciences.
"Don't make your 20s; decide your whole life." That's the sentence I had always
remembered from my psychology professor. I always have anxiety about what I will be in the future, afraid of making mistakes. But I am always passionate about knowing the ingredients of the packet food and medication for my family and me. Also, during this pandemic, I see people demand medication and cure for Covid-19 and its mutation, so It made me sure that I wanted to become a pharmacist.
I am from an immigrant family; I am the only one who can speak English and get educated in my family. I didn't have a good economic background, and I saw how my parents worked so hard in the restaurant, so I tried to study hard for me and also my family. People around me do not recommend me to study pharmacy because the
pharmacy salary has not grown for many years now. It is not worth it to take it with my family situation and pay back the student loans. But I don't believe any job is "not worth it," any job can be meaningful and valuable if you are passionate about it.
A doctor of Pharmacy degree would help me achieve my long-term goal. A Doctor degree seems a long way off, but I believe I can do this.
