My name is Mikyla Jones, and I am currently a senior at the University of Texas at Arlington, pursuing a double major in Accounting and Finance. My academic journey has been shaped by a strong foundation in leadership and community involvement that started long before college. During high school, I was a member of the Lake Ridge Marching Band before transferring to Frontier High School, where I served on the student council and was treasurer of the Key Club. These experiences introduced me early on to the importance of responsibility, teamwork, and service values that continue to guide me today.
Over the years, my studies have strengthened not only my understanding of numbers and business but also my passion for using those skills to uplift others. I firmly believe that finance, when approached ethically and thoughtfully, can be a powerful tool for positive change, not just for individuals but for entire communities. This belief shapes my career goals and fuels my vision of making a meaningful impact on the world.
My immediate career goal is to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), gaining the technical expertise and credibility necessary to promote responsible financial practices. In the long term, I aspire to leadership roles within companies that prioritize sustainability, social responsibility, and transparency. I want to help businesses navigate the complexities of finance while making decisions that benefit both shareholders and the broader community. By advocating for ethical business practices, I hope to contribute to a culture that values long-term well-being over short-term profits.
On a more personal level, I am deeply committed to financial education as a pathway to economic empowerment. Growing up, my parent always emphasized the importance of financial stability. This foundation inspired me to ensure that critical knowledge about budgeting, saving, investing, and credit management is accessible to everyone, especially in underserved communities. After earning my CPA license, I plan to organize workshops and mentoring programs focused on financial literacy. By equipping people with these essential skills, I hope to empower them to make informed decisions, build wealth, and achieve financial independence.
My involvement with Circle K International, a service-oriented student organization, has further shaped my dedication to community impact. As treasurer of our chapter, I have helped plan and manage fundraisers, oversee dues, and support various service projects. One of the most memorable experiences was partnering with ShareFest-Texas and SafeHaven to assist women and children transitioning into safe new homes after escaping domestic violence. These moments taught me that real, lasting change happens through compassion, persistence, and teamwork.
Looking forward, I envision creating a nonprofit organization that combines financial education, mentorship, and access to resources for low-income and minority populations. My goal is to build a supportive space where individuals can gain confidence in managing their finances and planning for their futures. By bridging gaps in knowledge and opportunity, I hope to help build stronger, more resilient communities.
To me, success is not defined solely by career titles or financial gains but by the positive difference I make in people’s lives. I am committed to using my education, skills, and passion to serve others with integrity and empathy. Through my career and community work, I want to help create a world where opportunity and financial security are within reach for all.
This is the future I am working toward—a future built on education, ethical leadership, and the belief that when we lift others up, we all rise together.

My name is Mikyla Jones, and I am a senior at the University of Texas at Arlington, double majoring in Accounting and Finance. Throughout my college journey, I have developed a deep passion for using financial knowledge not only as a foundation for a successful career but also as a tool to uplift others. My academic achievements—including maintaining a 3.8 GPA, induction into Beta Gamma Sigma, and participation in a summer research program—reflect my commitment to excellence. But beyond the classroom, what truly motivates me is the desire to make a lasting, positive impact on my community.
My long-term career goal is to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and eventually serve in a leadership role at a major company where I can advocate for ethical and sustainable business practices. I want to bridge the gap between corporate finance and the real-world challenges faced by underserved communities. I believe that everyone—regardless of background—deserves access to financial knowledge, opportunities for economic security, and support systems that enable growth. That’s where I intend to leave my mark.
Growing up, my parent always emphasized the importance of financial stability and independence. Those conversations sparked my interest in finance and helped me understand how crucial financial education is to long-term well-being. After becoming CPA certified, I plan to lead financial literacy workshops in underserved neighborhoods, helping individuals and families learn about budgeting, saving, credit, and entrepreneurship. My goal is to promote generational wealth and financial empowerment, particularly within communities of color that have historically lacked access to these resources.
My involvement with Circle K International (CKI), a collegiate service organization, has also been a driving force behind my passion for service. As the current treasurer of our chapter, I’ve helped coordinate and participate in several projects aimed at supporting vulnerable populations, from food drives to transitional support for domestic violence survivors. These experiences have taught me that meaningful change often starts at the grassroots level, one person at a time.
One of our most powerful service projects was partnering with ShareFest-Texas and SafeHaven to assist women and children transitioning into safe housing after leaving abusive environments. We helped move furniture, unpack donations, and provide emotional support to families beginning new chapters. Seeing their resilience reminded me that real impact comes from showing up consistently, offering compassion, and treating people with dignity. It’s these values that I plan to carry with me throughout my career.
In the future, I hope to launch a nonprofit organization that combines financial education, mentorship, and access to resources for low-income and minority communities. I envision creating a space where individuals feel empowered, informed, and supported as they work toward their personal and financial goals.
To me, success isn’t measured solely by income or job title—it’s about the lives you touch and the legacy you leave behind. I am committed to leading with integrity, serving with purpose, and using my knowledge to uplift others. My mission is simple: to build a more equitable future where opportunity, stability, and hope are within reach for all, starting with my own community

To me, selflessness is not just about grand gestures—it’s about showing up, being present, and doing the right thing even when no one is watching. It’s about placing the needs of others before your own, not for recognition, but because you genuinely care. I strive to embody selflessness in both big and small ways, whether through organized service or everyday moments that call for compassion and understanding.
One of the most impactful examples of selflessness in my life has been my involvement with Circle K International (CKI), a collegiate service organization rooted in community, leadership, and service. Through CKI, I’ve participated in a wide range of service projects, but one in particular stands out: volunteering with ShareFest-Texas, in partnership with SafeHaven. This initiative supports women and children escaping domestic violence by helping them transition into safe new homes. Many of the families we assist are starting over with nothing. We help move furniture, unpack essentials, and create a welcoming space for families trying to rebuild their lives.
Outside of structured volunteer work, I practice selflessness in more personal ways as well. I’ve helped friends through emotional hardships—staying up late to talk, offering a listening ear, or providing support when they felt alone, even when I had my own deadlines or worries. These moments aren’t always visible, but they matter. They come from a place of empathy and remind me that being there for someone is often the greatest gift you can give.
Selflessness has taught me that you don’t need to have all the answers to make a difference. You just need to care enough to act. Whether it’s offering a ride, donating clothes, or taking time out of your day to support someone else, the smallest acts of kindness often have the biggest impact.
What I’ve learned through these experiences is that selflessness is a choice—a daily decision to live with intention, compassion, and integrity. It’s not always easy. It often means sacrificing your own comfort or time. But it’s always worth it. Because at the end of the day, what truly matters is how we show up for one another.
That’s the kind of person I strive to be: someone who leads with heart, lives with purpose, and lifts others up—quietly, consistently, and without expectation. In both service and daily life, I hope to continue building a life rooted in kindness, humility, and the belief that we rise by lifting others.

Being part of a community has been one of the most powerful influences on my outlook for the future. In a world often dominated by uncertainty and division, my experiences with service and fellowship have shown me that there is still so much good in the world—people who care, who show up, and who support one another. That realization has given me a deep and lasting sense of hope. One story in particular stands out as a reminder of the power of community and the lessons it continues to teach me.
In the fall of 2023, I joined Circle K International (CKI), a student-led service organization focused on leadership, service, and fellowship. I was looking for a way to give back to others while connecting with like-minded people on campus at the University of Texas at Arlington. One of our most impactful service projects took place in partnership with ShareFest-Texas and SafeHaven, which supports victims of domestic violence.
We assisted women and children transitioning from shelters into new homes, providing physical help by moving furniture and essentials, but also emotional support by offering a sense of dignity, care, and fresh beginnings. Most of the people we helped had fled dangerous situations and were starting over with very little. The first time I participated in a move, I was struck by the strength of a young mother who thanked us, tears in her eyes, while holding her toddler. It wasn’t just about unloading boxes—it was about showing up for someone who had endured something unimaginable and saying, “You’re not alone.”
These experiences taught me how service connects people across backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences. I realized that community is not just a group of people who live in the same area—it’s about people coming together with shared purpose, offering kindness without expecting anything in return. I also learned that resilience doesn’t always look like strength from the outside. Sometimes, it looks like asking for help. Sometimes, it looks like accepting it.
Through my continued involvement with CKI, I ran for and was elected treasurer in the spring of 2024. In this leadership role, I’ve worked to keep our club financially strong, especially as rising dues have made membership less accessible for some students. Despite having the lowest membership in our region, our club logged the highest number of volunteer hours. That spoke volumes to me—not just about commitment, but about the collective heart of our small but mighty group. It reminded me that even limited resources can be multiplied when a community is driven by compassion.
This journey has instilled in me a firm belief that no act of kindness is too small to matter. In every move-in, every volunteer event, and every conversation, I saw how hope is kept alive—not by grand gestures alone, but by consistent care and connection. Being part of this community has shaped my belief that the future is not something we passively wait for, but something we actively build—together.
In the face of hardship, it is community that reminds us that we are never truly alone. That knowledge gives me hope—not just for myself, but for everyone I’ve served and will continue to serve.

In the fall of 2023, I joined Circle K International (CKI), a collegiate service organization rooted in leadership, fellowship, and service. As a student at the University of Texas at Arlington, I was searching for meaningful ways to give back to my community while connecting with others who shared similar values. What began as a simple desire to get involved soon turned into a transformative experience that deepened my understanding of service, leadership, and faith.
One of the most impactful service projects I participated in was volunteering with ShareFest-Texas. This initiative, organized in partnership with SafeHaven, provides assistance to victims of domestic violence by helping them move into new homes. Many of these victims are women with young children, escaping difficult and dangerous situations. Helping them transition into a safer space—often bringing furniture, clothing, and essential items—was deeply emotional and eye-opening. After every move, John, the founder of the organization, would remind us of the difference we were making in these families' lives. His words and the visible relief on the faces of those we helped inspired me to keep showing up and to serve with compassion and humility.
Initially, I was hesitant to take on a leadership role within CKI. I doubted whether I had the experience or confidence to lead. However, with encouragement from my peers and mentors, I ran for treasurer in the spring of 2024 and have proudly held the position since. In this role, I’ve helped manage our budget, coordinate fundraising efforts, and support planning for service events. Taking on this responsibility has taught me how important it is to lead with both purpose and accountability.
One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced as a club is membership limitations. Due to a recent increase in dues, our chapter has the lowest membership in our region, as many students who want to join cannot afford to. Despite this setback, our club accumulated more volunteer hours than all the other clubs in our region combined. This success reflects the incredible dedication of our members and our shared belief that true service is measured not by numbers, but by impact.
This journey has shaped my understanding of service as more than just helping others—it’s about standing beside people in their most vulnerable moments, listening, and offering what you can with empathy and respect. I’ve learned that leadership is not about titles or recognition, but about being present, consistent, and willing to work alongside others. Most importantly, my involvement in CKI has strengthened my faith. Serving others has reminded me that faith in action—through kindness, perseverance, and compassion—is one of the most powerful ways to bring hope to the world.
Through my experience with Circle K International, I’ve discovered that service is not a one-time act, but a lifelong commitment. It’s about using whatever you have—your time, your skills, your heart—to make a meaningful difference. This journey has shaped the leader I strive to be: compassionate, grounded in service, and inspired by faith.
FLIK Hospitality Group’s Entrepreneurial Council Scholarship
In a world facing climate change, environmental degradation, and widening socio-economic gaps, I believe finance can and must be used as a catalyst for sustainable progress. As a student double-majoring in Accounting and Finance at the University of Texas at Arlington, my vision over the next five years is to drive positive environmental impact both locally and globally by aligning financial expertise with ecological responsibility. My strategy will center around three pillars: sustainable investment, green financial literacy, and corporate accountability.
First, I plan to engage in sustainable investing—an approach that considers environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors in investment decisions. Upon graduation, I will pursue a Master’s degree and earn my CPA certification to gain the technical expertise necessary to guide individuals and organizations toward eco-conscious financial choices. Through internships and early-career positions, I aim to work with firms that prioritize ESG integration. Whether advising a client to invest in clean energy or evaluating the sustainability metrics of a mutual fund, I will help direct capital toward companies that reduce carbon emissions, prioritize clean water access, and foster ethical supply chains. The ultimate goal is to show that doing good and doing well financially can—and should—coexist.
Second, I am committed to promoting green financial literacy in my local community. Many individuals, especially those in underserved communities, are not aware of how their financial decisions impact the environment. I will develop and lead financial education workshops that highlight topics like sustainable budgeting, eco-friendly consumer habits, and how to support green businesses. By equipping others with the knowledge to make environmentally conscious choices with their money, we can collectively reduce our ecological footprint. Partnering with local nonprofits, schools, and youth organizations, I will ensure this education is inclusive, practical, and action-driven.
Third, as someone with a strong interest in corporate finance and accountability, I plan to contribute to making businesses more transparent and responsible. As a future CPA, I will advocate for the integration of sustainability metrics into annual financial reports. This includes disclosing greenhouse gas emissions, waste management practices, and water usage in financial statements. Over the next five years, I hope to work with businesses on creating climate-risk disclosures and long-term sustainability plans. This not only encourages environmental responsibility but also prepares companies for a future where regulators, investors, and consumers demand transparency.
Globally, I will support environmental nonprofits and green startups through impact investing, even as a small stakeholder. Thanks to advances in fintech, individuals can now invest globally through platforms that support reforestation, plastic removal from oceans, and renewable energy development. By leveraging my financial acumen and technological access, I will make intentional choices to support scalable, planet-positive change beyond my immediate community.
Ultimately, I believe finance is not just a system of numbers but a powerful tool for driving meaningful, lasting environmental change. Through sustainable investing, community financial education, and pushing for corporate environmental transparency, I will dedicate the next five years to building a greener, more responsible future—locally and globally.
Eitel Scholarship
Hello, I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's in both accounting and finance and plan to obtain my master's in accounting and my CPA certification. Receiving this scholarship would be a tremendous support as I pursue both my master's degree and CPA certification. Advancing my education is a top priority for me, not only to meet the qualifications required in my field, but also to develop the expertise necessary to make a meaningful impact in the accounting profession. However, the financial burden that comes with graduate education and professional certification is significant.
I am currently working hard to balance my academic goals with personal and financial responsibilities. As someone who is committed to continuing my education immediately after completing my undergraduate degree, the cost of tuition, books, exam fees, and preparation courses for the CPA exam adds up quickly. Without financial assistance, I would likely need to take on additional work hours or student loans, which could delay my academic progress or make it more difficult to maintain a strong GPA.
Receiving this scholarship would allow me to focus more fully on my studies and professional development. It would relieve some of the financial stress and give me the flexibility to take advantage of internships, academic opportunities, and networking events that are crucial to long-term success in my field. Ultimately, this scholarship would help me become a more knowledgeable, qualified, and confident professional as I enter the workforce.
Thank you for considering my application and for supporting students like me who are striving to achieve their academic and career goals.
