Bold PointsBio
My name is Mikayla Taylor! I am 16 years old (almost 17) and I am a Junior in high school. I enjoy, dance, track, and flag football. I am a pretty athletic person and I enjoy baking, cooking, and reading. When I was 7 years old I was put into foster care due to neglect and my biological mother's personal issues. I was lucky to have my first foster home be my forever home and I was adopted at the age of 9. I believe that the reason I turned out the way that I am is because of my adopted mom. She has taught me how to work hard and strive for what I want. I owe it to her for the amazing person I have become. My religion is super important to me as well. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I feel that I exemplify my religion in my everyday life because it's also a part of the reason that I turned out the way that I did.
My goal for my life is to be successful. I want to build a life that I can be proud of and that will take care of my future family. I’m a hard worker and I feel that I can achieve anything I put my mind to. I am kind to others and empathetic to those that need me. I want to share that empathy and passion to the world. For me, it's not about making a lot of money or having a nice house, it's about proving to myself that I can achieve anything I put my mind to.

I don't think a person like me can ever really say only one. When living in a single-parent home, it takes a community to come together and help those families. I can think of many family and friends who have helped me grow in my educational goals and achieve some of the ones I truly wanted. My amazing mother has opened my eyes to amazing works of literature that have rounded my vocabulary and I have been able to complete book series and reread series that I will love forever. My orchestra teacher in middle school helped me become a better viola player and because of that encouragement and determination, I was able to become the first chair in my section. My sports coaches worked with me to learn new techniques that could help me gain speed and set personal records I can be proud of. My mom has supported me in the career path I want to pursue and has given me insight into the classes I need to take to achieve that goal.
My friends have been an impact on my life because I am surrounded by positive and motivating people. They have bonding time and study groups that allow me to relax and focus on my long-term education goals. When you surround yourself with those kinds of people, it allows you to be able to stay on track and not let distractions like drama, get in the way of attaining greatness. Plus, when you have people cheering you on, your mental health is in check. When you fall on bad times, those people who you know love and cherish you will help you keep moving forward and not pushing back.
I don't think I would be as driven to these goals if it weren't for the people who accepted me as part of their lives. I'm adopted and it did take a village to teach me the importance of perseverance and love. Goals go hand in hand with staying motivated and purposeful. I was taught that by my family and friends and wouldn't be the person I am today without those guides and teachings. I think aspirations like the ones I want to achieve aren't easy to attain. But I know getting it is possible because of those wonderful people. They've allowed me the opportunity to become who I am and I couldn't have asked for better supporters by my side.

I think that generational wealth is making a legacy for your future generations. Creating something that can be built and grown from the ground up to create something that is comfortable and long lasting. I want to build that generational health by working hard and staying ahead. Finding something i'm passionate about and not backing down when things get tough. I think true wealth comes with hard worth and persistence. To create something that is long lasting and will carry on beyond your years, is going to take longer than 5 minutes of your time. It's going to take your heart and your soul to achieve that greatness. So what generational wealth means to me is setting the bar that my future family can grow from and become rich off of, so then, when they have worked their hardest and are at their last leg, that bar is set even higher for that next generation to pick it up and keep going.
