Bio

I am Michelle Wilfong, a single mother of two boys. I have worked for many companies, but my dream goal was to become a nurse. As a single mother who has never received child support, I have always put my dreams on hold to ensure my family was adequately taken care of; however, now and then, I would get the chance to pursue my goals and jump at those opportunities. My children mean everything to me, and now, with my oldest being 18 and my youngest being 11, I can concentrate on my goals. The nursing program offers online classes, so I could still work full-time and complete my nursing degree.

My children mean everything to me, and now, with my oldest being 18 and my youngest being 11, I can concentrate on my goals. The nursing program offers online classes, so I could still work full-time and complete my nursing degree. I am the first generation to go to college and complete a degree. Over the years, I have made some mistakes with my finances, in which I have incurred debt, but as a single mom, you do what you have to do to keep the lights on, the rent paid, and food on the table. I am not one to ask for handouts, but if given the opportunity, the people who do help me would be proud of the person they invested in. I am a fierce momma bear, and having to play both mom and dad roles, I have learned to be strong and nurturing. My oldest son will attend Lineman school in August, and my youngest son plays baseball and is very talented. I want to be a mother my children look up to and will always remember, no matter what; my mom never gave up and loved them more than words could ever describe. Growing up, I did not live in an affectionate household. My mother and father worked and did their best to give us a decent life; however, we were destitute. I was sexually assaulted from the age of 5 until 13. We went through a trial, and he was sentenced. Since then, I have been in therapy for PTSD and trauma, and I have yet to let that affect who I am as a person or who I am as a mother; if anything, it has made me more protective and loving toward my children. I never wanted to be seen as a victim or a failure, especially to my kids. Right now, I work for my local utility company as their lead technical support representative and dispatcher, and even though it pays the bills, I still live paycheck to paycheck. I know I am helping my community, but it still isn't what I am passionate about. I would love to be a nurse. I worked as a certified nursing assistant for many years, and waking up and caring for people daily is the most rewarding feeling ever. I would wake up every day with a purpose, knowing that I was making a difference; unfortunately, I would have to leave that job and start working in a factory because it just wasn't enough to pay the bills and take care of my family, but like I stated before I truly believe that now is the time for me to take advantage of the online nursing program that is being offered and still be able to be a present mother in my children's lives. With your help, you will give me a shot at my dreams, and failure will not be an option.
