Kerry Kennedy Life Is Good Scholarship
My career goal is to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in serving the Deaf and hard‑of‑hearing community. I am passionate about this path because I believe every person deserves access to emotional, psychological, and social support. Growing up, I experienced moments when I needed help and knowing that support existed made a profound difference in my life. That experience shaped my desire to become the kind of advocate that can personally and professionally be a source of comfort to those that need it.
I want to be someone who helps remove barriers, strengthens community connections, and creates opportunities for people who are often overlooked. I may not be the person who makes a groundbreaking impact, but I want to be the person who lays the stepping‑stone that allows someone else to break through. My goal is not only to serve the Deaf community professionally, but also to apply what I learn as a social worker to my daily life, supporting my family, friends, and the people around me.
Pursuing this career has required sacrifice, as any career seeking to help others does. I have worked two jobs during semesters when I wasn’t taking more than four classes so I could financially support myself during heavier academic terms. Balancing work and school meant sacrificing time most students spend resting or socializing with peers. There were times when my only free hours were early in the morning or late at night, and even those were used to prepare for the next day. This forced discipline into my life and shaped the student I am now and the future social worker I am becoming. I’ve pushed through late nights, tears, and moments of self‑doubt, especially when procrastination made assignments feel overwhelming. But each time, I chose to push forward. I’m grateful for these moments because they taught me my limits, but also how to adapt, grow, and build better habits. Even learning to meal‑prep to cut down the cost of fast food became a necessary routine in my household. After an unfortunate learned routine of buying fast-food meals. Each sacrifice—big or small—has been part of my commitment to becoming who I want to be.
Kerry Kennedy’s life reflects resilience and a belief that sacrifice is not a sign of failure, but an opportunity to grow stronger. I strive to embody that same resilience throughout my education, my career, and my everyday life. This scholarship would not only support my academic journey but also help me continue building a future dedicated to service, advocacy, and meaningful change.
