Dark and Light Scholarship
All my life I have been fascinated by the body. I find it fascinating how the body is formed and, even more so, how to improve it. I also deeply enjoy helping people. It doesn't matter if it's tutoring, volunteering, or lending a shoulder to cry on; helping people is what I was called to do. That's why it took me no time to realize I wanted to work in the medical field. It took some time to narrow down exactly what I wanted to do. After extensive research and tireless hours toiling over a computer, I have realized that many medical professions require you to be in school for a long time, which isn't ideal. I then continued to research and found Physical Therapy. I would have to major in Kinesiology for four years then I would have to go and get my doctorate in Physical Therapy. I would only be in school for six to eight years and even then it could be less if I work hard and kept good habits. I researched it some more and fell in love with it. It was the perfect career for me. It requires knowledge of the body, social skills, and it keeps you active. It was everything I wanted. Helping people become healthier and keeping them that way has always been a long-time dream of mine. Not only would I be helping people, I would be developing relationships with so many different people and gaining so much experience. I don’t intend to stop becoming a Physical Therapist. My ultimate goal is to open my own clinics. My clinics will be focused on developing close relationships with our clients and making it affordable for people to receive the care they need. Next would be my own gyms. I believe that the two main reasons people don't go to the gym are because they fear being mocked and ridiculed and because there isn't a widespread gym community that gives motivation. Eventually, I want my own podcast because I want to spread the importance, and advantage, of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I have big plans for my life, and receiving this scholarship will help me take one step closer to my dream career. If I receive this scholarship, I will dedicate myself to putting it to good use by working my hardest in school and in life. I truly believe Physical Therapy is my calling, and it is the way I will be able to positively impact the world. Winning this scholarship will truly be an honor and a privilege.
S.O.P.H.I.E Scholarship
All throughout high school, I have found myself adrift. I never truly had a place to fit in. I was on the football team and I wrestled, so I would hang out with the other athletes. I was also in a lot of advanced classes so I would meet different people, so I would hang out with them. I also found myself in different clubs after school, so I would meet even more people. People from the robotics club, theater, chorus, Black Student Union, African Student Union; and the two clubs I am actually in, which are National Honors Society and Beta Club. I got to meet so many interesting people everyday. Every time I would stumble upon one of these meetings, I found myself helping people. Whether it was setting up or running messages or just staying there for company, I was there. Helping people just feels natural to me, as if I was born to do it. Whenever I was helping, I truly felt at home.
In my community, there is a day called Grayson day. It's held every year and the students in high school are the main ones who volunteer and participate. It involves every business in Grayson giving "samples" of their business to the people of the community. As volunteers, it was our job to help them run it and provide anything they needed. I have volunteered for Grayson Day all four years in high school and I love it. I mainly stay with a single business for an hour or two and help them run the stand. I have gotten to know every single business that participates in Grayson Day. I can walk into the local Physical Therapy clinic, and they would know me by name just because of how I helped them. Grayson Day is one of my favorite ways to make an impact in my community.
Another way I contribute to my economy is by volunteering at the local elementary and middle schools. Sometimes it involves chaperoning, other times it involves cleaning up, whatever the case may be, I enjoy it. The younger kids are always more pleasant. Their eyes are so full of life and wonder. It makes me nostalgic of my elementary days. It's also funny to hear how they talk and interact with one another. I remember judging a science fair for an elementary school. The student I was judging had gone to the restroom and I found myself observing the other students. I remember vividly a young boy, I hadn't caught his name, just break dancing in the middle of the cafeteria. And it was actually good. I remember looking around in bewilderment because I couldn't grasp how no one else was seeing this. It just reminded me of the chaotic inner workings of a middle school.
I think high school students should behave more responsibly in our communities. There are so many non profit organizations in Grayson and I don't know any students that are a part of any. I understand that many students are involved in clubs and different things of that nature, but I think it should be a requirement to have a certain amount of volunteer hours. Service is an important attribute of a good leader. I think it is imperative that my generation, and those after me, be taught the correct way to do it from a young age. We want our youth to be one of humility and virtue, not pride and arrogance; I genuinely think is the best way to teach them. It will also incite a feeling of pride.

LeBron James Fan Scholarship
I am a fan of Lebron James because he has to be the only reason I ever got into watching and playing basketball. Lebron has to be the single most amazing basketball player I have ever laid eyes upon. I understand that there have been so many different men that have done amazing things for the sport of basketball, but I think Lebron has to be the top reason as to why it's so popular. This man is almost 40 years old and is still one of the top players in the game. I don't think it gets any more amazing than that. I'm not going to list all his stats because we would be here all day. But that's not the main reason as to why Lebron James is one of my favorite players. It mostly has to
do with who he is off the court. Lebron is an amazing father who does nothing but support his children and spouse. He has a bubbly personality that's infectious to be around. I also admire his extreme confidence not only in himself but in his game. Lebron taught me that you have to work hard and talent isn't all that it takes. This is seen by his longevity. Talent didn't lead him to play 20+ years in the NBA. Hard work, discipline, and effort did. Lebron is the pinnacle of what an athlete could and should be. I don't think there will ever be another Lebron, but I do think that all athletes should try to be more like him.
Lebron James is the greatest basketball player to ever step on the court. I say this with everything in me because it's the truth. It's not biased, just looking from a statistical point of view Lebron is years ahead of other great players, even Michael Jordan. Maybe if Jordan had played for a longer period of time, he would have had more points and more rings. He is without a doubt number two, but he is undoubtedly outclassed in every area concerning Lebron.
