In the intricate tapestry of my life, faith has been a guiding force that not only shapes my day-to-day existence but also molds my aspirations and career trajectory. As a Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Christian with a steadfast commitment to pro-life values, my faith is not confined to mere beliefs; it is a dynamic force that actively influences my actions and goals. Raised in a household where Seventh Day Adventist principles were instilled by my parents, the foundation of my faith and pro-life stance was laid early in life. This upbringing has been pivotal in fostering a worldview that sees the sanctity of life as a fundamental principle. As I navigate through each day, my actions are imbued with the compassion and respect for life inherent in my Christian values. My journey into education took me to a Christian college, where my worldview was further shaped through the lens of compassion and understanding. Armed with this perspective, I embarked on a missionary experience overseas, spending 10 months in Palau as a missionary teaching 4th grade and ministering to the locals. This transformative experience broadened my understanding of service and deepened my commitment to living out my faith in tangible ways. Upon returning to the United States, I completed my Religious Education degree, delving into teaching Bible and various subjects as a middle school teacher within the SDA school system for five years. While my teaching career was fulfilling, a shift occurred, leading me to explore a new path in nursing. This transition provided me with a fresh perspective on God's creation, offering new avenues to manifest God's kindness to patients through actions, even when expressing my faith explicitly was not possible. In the field of nursing, I discovered the power of a simple gesture—a moment taken to be a servant to those in need within the VA system. This act is not just a duty but a deliberate attempt to reflect God's love to others through service. This experience fueled my desire to reach higher, prompting me to pursue a Master's in Nursing Leadership in Healthcare Systems. My faith, coupled with the understanding gained through nursing, underscores my commitment to creating environments where nurses can perform at their best without being overburdened. Nurses, often considered the lifeblood of hospitals, play a crucial role in caring for the sick. By pursuing advanced education, my goal is to contribute to the establishment of supportive systems that empower nurses to deliver optimal care. However, my pro-life stance extends beyond the beginning stages of life. It encompasses a commitment to protect life throughout all its stages, including the end-of-life phase. This critical period, often marked by vulnerability, is where kindness and love become paramount. I envision using my education to ensure that nurses are equipped to provide compassionate end-of-life care, fostering an environment where the spiritual needs of patients, if requested, can be addressed with empathy and understanding. In conclusion, my faith journey, rooted in Seventh Day Adventist principles, has been a dynamic force shaping my personal and professional life. From missionary work overseas to teaching in the SDA school system and transitioning to nursing, my experiences have cultivated a deep commitment to pro-life values and compassionate service. Pursuing a Master's in Nursing Leadership is not just an academic pursuit; it is a deliberate step towards creating positive change, ensuring that nurses can protect and care for life in all its stages.

Embarking on the journey of higher education has been an odyssey filled with twists, turns, and a profound realization of my passion for nursing. As I reflect on the winding road that brought me to this point, I appreciate the transformative decision to transition from a middle school teacher to a nurse pursuing a master's. My educational journey commenced with uncertainty. I oscillated between different majors, starting as a biology major with aspirations for pre-med. However, the quest for my true calling led me through the realms of accounting, marketing, and theology. It wasn't until I immersed myself in a missionary experience in Palau, teaching 4th grade for 10 months, that I found my love for education. This revelation guided me toward obtaining a religious education degree, which subsequently paved the way for my fulfilling career as a middle school teacher. Teaching, although gratifying, left me with a persistent sense that something essential was missing from my professional life. As I stood in front of my science class, covering topics like anatomy and basic physiology, I yearned for a deeper understanding of the intricate workings of the human body. This yearning intensified as I listened to captivating stories from my fiancée, an ER nurse, recounting her experiences in the medical world. The pivotal "aha" moment occurred during our middle school's mandatory CPR training. The EMT instructor delivered a basic life support course, and as we absorbed the crucial information, a fellow teacher confided under her breath, "I wish I had done something with medicine back then." Those words resonated within me, sparking a realization that I could make a change. The prospect of living with the lingering "What if?" haunted me, and in that moment, I recognized that nothing was stopping me from pursuing my passion for healthcare. That very night, I shared my newfound aspiration with my fiancée, and together, we celebrated the decision to transition into nursing. The allure of helping people and engaging in meaningful interactions with patients made the shift feel like a natural progression. Encouraged by my fiancée and supportive family, I successfully navigated an accelerated BSN program. The completion of my BSN marked a significant milestone in my journey, and now, as I pursue my Master's in Nursing Leadership in Healthcare Systems, I am driven by a passion to advocate for safe and positive nursing environments. This scholarship presents an opportunity to propel my story further. I am determined to contribute to systemic changes that empower nurses to perform their work to the best of their abilities. In conclusion, my educational journey has been a tapestry woven with diverse experiences, from the uncertainties of college majors to the pivotal decision to transition into nursing. The "aha" moment crystallized my passion for healthcare, propelling me into an accelerated BSN program and now into the pursuit of a Master's degree. As I look towards the future, this scholarship represents not just financial aid but a catalyst for my continued journey, shaping me into a nursing leader dedicated to fostering positive change within healthcare systems.
