Hi, my name is Michael. I'm from Towson, MD. I'm a self-published author and an aspiring creative director. I'm a Christian. I have two cats named Spooky and Boo on Halloween. I live in a single-parent household. My mother often struggles to make ends meet, but she makes the most of what she has. I'm part Kenyan. I hate it when people confuse me with my twin brother. My family would describe me as silly, methodical, and reserved. I want to give back to my community after all it has done for me.

One of the most unforgettable pages of my journey was when I led a mentorship program at a local youth center. Imagine a room filled with wide-eyed children, a few bouncing in their seats, others lost in thought—and me, racking my brain for activities that would be fun but also meaningful. It was a roller-coaster ride, creating workshops that ran the gamut from making mini-robots to storytelling sessions that had everyone in stitches. Seeing these kids grow was like watching a garden blossom—every little step forward seemed like a triumph. Their confidence rose like a bird flying into the sky, and their dreams began to appear more attainable. It was so rewarding to see them believe in themselves, even if it was just a little bit at the beginning. To be honest, I learned more from their energy than I ever imagined. Being in the position to inspire and uplift these children became a lesson in responsibility—because if I could help spark even a flicker of hope or drive, I knew I was doing something right. It was a reminder that sometimes all it takes is a little push to turn a kid's "maybe someday" into "I can do this today."
But that’s not all—my leadership extended beyond the mentorship program. I also rolled up my sleeves in my church community, spearheading initiatives that brought people together. From organizing food drives to planning charity events, I learned that teamwork isn’t just a buzzword; it’s the recipe for real change. I loved watching our small group turn into a tightly knit team, united by a shared purpose: Helping others. There’s something incredibly satisfying about seeing neighbors hit it off because they’re working toward a common goal. It’s like building a puzzle where every piece counts—and the picture you create is a community that cares.
My leadership experience didn't end there. At school, I dove headfirst into the recycling and marketing clubs. In the recycling club, I got classmates pumped up about saving the world—basically, a superhero team battling waste. We did campaigns, drives, and even created posters that made people laugh while reminding them to recycle. Watching our work take effect—students altering their behaviors—was a moment of pride. It showed that small actions, when combined with enthusiasm, could be a game-changer.
All of these experiences—mentoring, volunteering, and school organizations—crafted who I am today. They've equipped me to bridge, to inspire, and to grow. Every leadership experience filled me with happiness and a driven mindset. I've realized that directing others doesn't always take big moments. Sometimes, it's just a matter of being present, listening, and trusting in the capabilities of others. Going forward, I plan to do more roles where I can make an impact—because I've experienced firsthand how leadership can spark change and close gaps in a polarized world. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that leadership is not about being the loudest or bossiest—it's about being the catalyst that makes others shine. And I'm going to continue to light that catalyst, one person at a time.
Churchill Family Positive Change Scholarship
Imagine a world where marketing isn't just about selling products, but a powerful tool to inspire change, protect the vulnerable, and create a more equitable society—this is the future I am passionate about shaping through further education in marketing. Pursuing advanced studies in this field would equip me with the skills, knowledge, and ethical foundation necessary to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the world around me. In an era defined by rapid digital transformation and complex societal challenges, marketing has the potential to be a force for good—if wielded responsibly and creatively.
First and foremost, further education would enable me to champion the ethical collection and use of data. In today’s digital age, consumers entrust companies with their personal information, yet many remain unaware of how their data is used or exploited. By gaining a deeper understanding of data privacy laws, ethical guidelines, and responsible marketing practices, I could advocate for transparent policies that protect consumer privacy and foster genuine trust. This knowledge would empower me to develop campaigns that prioritize honesty and integrity, setting a standard for ethical marketing that benefits both businesses and consumers.
Secondly, I see a tremendous opportunity to leverage marketing strategies to raise awareness about critical global issues, such as climate change, health disparities, gender equality, and human rights. Strategic campaigns have the power to educate, mobilize, and inspire action among diverse audiences. Through targeted messaging and innovative storytelling, I aim to highlight pressing issues and motivate individuals and organizations to contribute to positive change. Education in marketing would teach me how to craft compelling narratives that resonate emotionally and culturally, ensuring that vital messages reach and influence a broad spectrum of society.
Third, accessibility and inclusivity are essential components of responsible marketing. My further education would deepen my understanding of how digital platforms can be designed and utilized to reach diverse audiences, including marginalized communities. Ensuring that information and resources are accessible to all—regardless of socioeconomic status, language, or physical ability—is crucial for fostering a more inclusive society. I aspire to develop marketing campaigns that break down barriers and promote equal access to information, opportunities, and services.
Finally, advanced marketing skills would enable me to support campaigns advocating for policy changes that benefit society at large. By analyzing consumer insights and behavioral data, I was able to identify effective strategies to influence public opinion and inform policymakers. Whether promoting environmental regulations, healthcare reforms, or social justice initiatives, I want to harness marketing’s persuasive power to drive tangible policy shifts that create lasting societal benefits.
In sum, pursuing further education in marketing is not just a career move; it’s a commitment to harnessing the discipline’s potential for social good. It would empower me to educate, advocate, and innovate—using marketing as a tool to protect privacy, raise awareness, promote inclusivity, and support meaningful policy change. With this knowledge, I hope to contribute to a more ethical, informed, and compassionate world—one campaign at a time.
FLIK Hospitality Group’s Entrepreneurial Council Scholarship
Imagine a world where a marketing campaign not only sells products but also helps plant trees, clean parks, and fight climate change—sounds crazy, right? Well, buckle up, because in the next five years, I plan to be that marketing hero, wielding my powers to create a positive environmental impact both locally and globally. And no, I won’t be donning a cape (unless it’s made of recycled fabric), but I will be using strategic, fun, and impactful marketing methods that make Mother Earth smile—maybe even do a little happy dance.
Starting close to home, my mission is to team up with my local community’s environmental experts—think of them as the Avengers of eco-activism. I’ll partner with local organizations to organize park clean-ups, tree-planting festivals, and recycling drives that not only make the community greener but also more connected. Imagine turning a dull Saturday into a community-wide event where people of all ages come together, armed with trash bags and plant saplings, singing “Kumbaya” while picking up litter and planting trees. It’s like a block party, but with a purpose—saving the planet one leaf at a time. Plus, I’ll promote minimal waste practices, encouraging local customers to reuse, recycle, and reduce their plastic footprints. Perhaps I’ll even launch a “Zero Waste Challenge,” where participants earn points for bringing their own reusable bags and bottles—think eco-friendly loyalty programs that make sustainability a fun game.
But it doesn’t stop there. I’ll push for sourcing locally as much as possible, highlighting the benefits of using local materials and fair trade products. Not only does this reduce transportation emissions (because nothing says “I care about the planet” like buying a locally made eco-friendly hammock), but it also supports our neighbors and boosts the local economy. It’s like a win-win situation: you get cool products, and the planet gets a breather.
Now, zooming out to the global stage, I aim to be a kind of eco-warrior across borders. I’ll partner with international NGOs and conservation programs—think of them as the Justice League of environmental advocacy. Together, we’ll fund and promote efforts to preserve biodiversity and protect endangered habitats. Perhaps I’ll launch a global social media campaign with a catchy hashtag, such as #SaveOurPlanet, encouraging people worldwide to share their own eco-friendly actions. Because let’s face it, saving the planet is a team sport, and social media is our stadium.
Additionally, I’ll champion the use of minimal, biodegradable, or recyclable packaging. Imagine products wrapped in materials that compost faster than you can say “plastic pollution,” reducing environmental impact with every purchase. I’ll push brands to ditch single-use plastics in favor of sustainable alternatives—because who needs a mountain of plastic waste when you can have a mountain of eco-consciousness?
Finally, I’ll leverage every marketing platform available to spread awareness about pressing global issues like climate change, deforestation, and pollution. Whether it’s through engaging videos, eye-catching infographics, or compelling stories, I want to turn awareness into action. Maybe even create a viral challenge that encourages people to reduce their carbon footprint—think “The 5-Minute Eco-Flip,” where individuals share quick tips to live greener.
In conclusion, my five-year plan is to turn marketing from just a tool for sales into a force for good—locally and globally. I’ll rally communities, support local economies, partner with global conservation efforts, and use every ounce of creative marketing to make environmental sustainability both fun and fashionable. Because if we’re going to save the planet, we might as well do it with a smile—and maybe a few viral hashtags. After all, saving the Earth should be the most exciting campaign we’ve ever launched.

Education plays a crucial role in reducing intimate partner violence (IPV) by addressing its root causes and promoting healthier relationship dynamics. One of the primary ways it benefits is by raising awareness about IPV, helping people recognize the warning signs, understanding the various forms it can take, and dispelling myths and misconceptions surrounding it. Increased awareness empowers victims to seek help and encourages bystanders to intervene, building a supportive environment for change.
In addition, education encourages the growth of healthy relationship skills, including effective communication, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation. These skills are essential for producing respectful and non-violent partnerships, reducing the likelihood of conflicts escalating into violence. Education programs should be targeted at different age groups, from school curricula to community workshops, creating an early understanding of healthy relationship norms.
Empowering victims through education is another vital aspect. When people are informed about their rights and available resources, they are more likely to seek help and escape abusive situations. Education also has the potential to shift societal attitudes and norms that perpetuate IPV, such as gender stereotypes and acceptance of violence. Challenging these beliefs would lead to community-wide behavioral change and a reduction in societal tolerance for violence.
Moreover, education facilitates research and data collection on IPV, providing valuable insights into its causes, prevalence, and effective interventions. This evidence-based approach informs policymakers and practitioners, leading to more effective prevention strategies. Overall, education acts as a foundational tool in the comprehensive effort to prevent intimate partner violence.
With a degree in marketing combined with my personal experience of intimate partner violence (IPV), I'm in a unique position to create significant change for others affected by similar circumstances. My academic background gives me a solid foundation in marketing principles, data analysis, and strategic communication, which I plan to leverage in addressing IPV. First, I would conduct comprehensive research on IPV, including understanding its prevalence, barriers to seeking help, and cultural factors influencing survivor experiences. Using marketing analytics, I would develop targeted outreach strategies that resonate with diverse populations, ensuring that content is culturally sensitive and efficient in reaching those in need.
Additionally, I would spearhead the creation of online communities or mobile applications designed to connect survivors with vital resources such as counseling, legal aid, and shelter services. These platforms would provide peer support, allowing victims to share their stories in a safe environment, fostering healing and empowerment. I would develop compelling messaging campaigns that highlight recovery stories, emphasizing resilience and hope, which would inspire others to seek help. Collaborating with existing organizations dedicated to IPV support, I would help amplify their outreach efforts and improve service delivery.
Furthermore, I would design user-friendly guides or toolkits tailored for survivors seeking assistance, providing step-by-step advice and resource listings to navigate complex systems.
Overall, my collective expertise and lived experience would enable me not only to raise awareness but also to facilitate tangible support systems, ultimately contributing to a reduction in IPV and promoting recovery and stability among survivors.

Discovering Amazon KDP and publishing a book through it is the achievement I'm most proud of. It all started as just a random curiosity—I’d heard about self-publishing somewhere online and thought I should try it also. At first, I didn’t really know what I was doing. I was just a teenager, staring at my laptop, feeling both overwhelmed and excited. The idea of holding my own book someday sounded like a dream, and I wasn’t sure if I could actually pull it off.
So, I started researching, watching videos, reading articles, and learning everything I could about Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. It was like opening a door to a whole new world where I could turn my ideas into reality. I poured my heart into writing my story, and even though there were moments I wanted to give up, I kept going. I think that’s when I really started to see how powerful creativity could be.
Publishing that book changed so much for me. For one, it made me realize I could actually create something noteworthy. It wasn’t just about writing for fun anymore. It was about sharing my voice and my story with the world. Plus, it gave me a new sense of purpose. I wasn’t just a kid with dreams—I was a creator, an entrepreneur. Seeing my book live on Amazon made me feel like I’d accomplished something I’d never imagined I could do.
But it wasn’t just about the pride—it also made a real difference for my family. The money I earned from my book helped with a few things my family needed. That was such a huge deal for me, knowing I could be useful to my family. It made me feel like I was more than just a teenager—I was someone who could take action, who could turn ideas into fact, and help my loved ones at the same time.
This whole experience also made me way more imaginative. I started thinking outside the box, coming up with new ideas for stories, designs, and even ways to market my book. It’s like I unlocked a part of my mind that I didn’t even know existed. Publishing on Amazon KDP made me more confident in myself and my abilities. I used to think that publishing a book was only for adults or gifted writers, but now I see that anyone, even a teenager like me, can do it if they’re willing to work.
Looking back, I feel proud of myself for taking that leap. Publishing my book wasn’t just about the finish line. It was about the journey—learning, growing, and proving to myself that I can do something big. It’s a reminder that sometimes, all it takes is a little courage and a lot of passion to turn your dreams into reality. I know this is just the beginning and I hope to continue achieve bigger and better things.

Growing up in a single-parent household was not a deficit but a forge that shaped who I am today. The weight of my mother's love subtly and profoundly influenced my worldview, instilling lessons that resonate through every aspiration and decision.
The most immediate impact was on my sense of responsibility and independence. Without a second income or adult support, chores were essential, not optional. I remember small hands tackling tasks usually reserved for adults, realizing that life demands effort—things don’t happen by chance but through hard work. Every good grade, extra hour worked, and sacrifice laid the foundation for a more secure future, fostering a fierce loyalty and protective instinct within me.
My mother's resourcefulness, stretching every dollar and making something from nothing, inspired my entrepreneurial spirit. I learned to contribute, find solutions, and take ownership of my financial future—not for wealth, but to create opportunities. This drive to innovate still fuels me today.
The struggles I witnessed also ignited a strong sense of justice. I became aware of systemic inequalities faced by those with fewer resources, motivating me to advocate for fairness and use my experiences to bridge gaps and break barriers.
Resilience is another vital trait I developed. Challenges and setbacks were frequent, but each obstacle built a quiet strength within me. I learned that falling isn’t failure. It’s an opportunity to rise stronger and wiser.
In summary, growing up in a single-parent household was a journey of immense growth and transformation. It shaped my character, instilled core values, and fueled ambitions beyond myself. This experience was, ultimately, the making of me.
Marie J. Lamerique Scholarship for Aspiring Scholars
The weight of a single parent's love is a unique burden. One that subtly and profoundly shapes a child's world. For me, growing up in a single-parent household wasn't a deficit but a forge. It hammered out the person I am today, imprinting lessons on my soul that resonate through every aspiration and decision.
The most immediate impact was on my sense of responsibility and independence. There was no safety net of two incomes, no other adult to pick up the slack. Chores weren't optional. They were essential. Looking back, I see a younger version of myself, small hands tackling tasks usually reserved for adults, a quiet determination etched on my face. It wasn't just about keeping a clean house. It was about contributing to our survival. It taught me that life demands effort and that things don't just randomly happen. Instead, you have to make them happen. This early taste of responsibility instilled in me a deep-seated independence, a knowledge that I could rely on myself, a comforting certainty in my own capabilities.
My focus shifted early, gravitating towards supporting my family. The abstract concept of "future" took on a tangible form – a future where my mother didn't have to carry the weight alone. It wasn't a chore but a driving force. Every good grade, every extra hour worked, and every sacrifice made was a brick laid in the foundation of a more secure future for us all. It cultivated a fierce loyalty, a protective instinct that still burns within me.
Next, there was my entrepreneurial spirit. Seeing my mother stretch every dollar and make something out of seemingly nothing was a masterclass in resourcefulness. It inspired me to find ways to contribute, generate income, and alleviate our financial strain. It wasn't about getting rich. It was about creating opportunities, finding solutions, and taking ownership of my financial future. It's a spirit that still fuels my drive to innovate.
Beyond the practical, the impact on my values was immense. Growing up with limited resources instilled a profound appreciation for what I had. Simple things – a warm meal, a roof over my head, a moment of laughter – were not taken for granted. I learned to see the value in experiences over possessions, in the love of family over material wealth. This appreciation led to a sense of gratitude that still colors my perspective.
The struggles I witnessed and experienced also ignited a strong sense of justice. I saw the inequalities and systemic hurdles faced by those with fewer resources. It made me want to advocate for others, champion fairness, and use my experiences to build bridges and break down barriers.
And finally, resilience. The challenges were many, and the setbacks were frequent. But each obstacle overcome, each hardship endured, built a layer of resilience, a quiet strength that allows me to weather life's storms. I learned that falling down isn't a failure. It's an opportunity to get back up, stronger and better than ever.
These values, these lessons, are the bedrock of my ambitions. The high drive to succeed isn't just about personal achievement. It's about honoring the sacrifices made and building a life where I can not only thrive but also give back. The inspiration to help others isn't a fleeting thought but an unyielding desire to use my experiences to uplift those facing similar challenges.
Growing up in a single-parent household was a journey filled with challenges. However, it was also a journey of immense growth and transformation. It shaped my character, instilled values that guide my every step, and fueled ambitions that reach far beyond myself. It was, in essence, the making of me.
Shepherd E. Solomon Memorial Scholarship
Growing up in my neighborhood, I realized how much of a difference small actions could make. I wanted to do more than just go through the motions of life—I wanted to give back and truly make an impact. So, I started tutoring younger kids at my local community center. Seeing their faces light up when they finally understood something I’d been explaining for days made me feel like I was doing something meaningful. It wasn’t just about helping with homework; it was about inspiring confidence, sparking curiosity, and showing them they’re capable of more than they think.
However, my efforts didn’t stop there. I’ve always cared deeply about our environment, especially the Chesapeake Bay. It’s such a beautiful place, full of life, but it’s been hurting from pollution and neglect. So, I got involved in local clean-up projects and awareness campaigns to restore the bay. It was hard work—picking up trash, planting native plants, and spreading the word about protecting our waterways. Seeing the bay slowly come back to life, with cleaner waters and more birds and fish, made me realize that our actions, no matter how small, can significantly impact nature.
I also believe that animals deserve love and care, so I’ve become an advocate for neutering and spaying cats. I know how many stray cats are suffering without homes or proper care. I’ve volunteered at clinics, helped distribute flyers, and even organized events to encourage responsible pet ownership. It’s heartbreaking to see so many animals suffering from preventable issues. However, I also know that by spreading awareness, I can help reduce the number of unwanted litters and give these animals a better shot at life.
On top of all that, I’ve dedicated time to distributing clothes to families in need. During the colder months, I organized drives at my school and community to collect warm clothes, blankets, and shoes. It felt amazing to see families’ faces light up when they received things they really needed but couldn’t always afford. It reminded me that sometimes, the tiniest gestures—like a warm jacket or a pair of shoes—can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
All of these experiences have taught me something important. Giving back isn’t just about helping others—it’s about building a stronger, healthier, and more empathetic community for everyone. It supports sustainable development by protecting our environment and resources, promotes collective well-being by meeting everyone’s basic needs, and helps develop my skills.
Overall, being involved in these causes has changed me. It’s made me more aware of how interconnected we all are and how much power I have to leave an impact, no matter how young I am. If more people, especially teens like me, step up and give back, we can create a future where communities thrive, environments flourish, and every person and animal gets the care they deserve. Giving back isn’t just something I do—it’s who I am now, and I’m excited to keep transforming the world around me.

Being a purposeful, responsible, and productive community member isn’t just about showing up. It’s about engaging in activities that align with community goals and values. It means understanding that my actions, no matter how small, can impact the people around me and the environment we share. When I participate in community activities, I aim to do so with intention—ensuring my efforts support the goals and values that unite us all.
Respect plays a huge role in this. I believe that respecting community rules and norms isn’t just about following guidelines but recognizing that these rules exist to create a safe, welcoming space for everyone. It also involves appreciating diversity—acknowledging that people have different backgrounds and perspectives and that these differences build and do not break our community. When I respect these differences, I help provide belonging for everyone.
Being responsible means being dependable. It’s about showing up when I say I will and completing my commitments. Whether contributing to a group project, participating in discussions, or volunteering my time, I understand that my consistency matters. It’s easy to be involved temporarily, but true responsibility means being reliable over time and supporting the community’s growth.
Productivity is about making my contributions count. I strive to be proactive—sharing ideas, offering help, and being immersed in conversations and projects. It’s not just about doing things for the sake of it but about creating meaningful impact. When I contribute actively and consistently, I help build a stronger, more vibrant community where everyone feels valued and motivated to participate.
Ultimately, being a purposeful, responsible, and productive community member is about more than just individual actions. It’s about cultivating a collective spirit where respect, responsibility, and active participation create a space where everyone can thrive. It’s a commitment to being present and making a positive difference in my community.
In the future, I plan to be purposeful, responsible, and super productive because I that's how I can help my community grow. I want to get involved in activities that reflect what my community values—like kindness, respect, and teamwork. Whether it's volunteering at local events or just being there for my neighbors, I want to show that I care. I know respecting the rules, norms, and diversity of my community is essential because it keeps everything fair and inclusive. Everyone's voice matters, and I want to listen and learn from different perspectives.
I also plan to contribute to community projects or conversations, even if it’s just sharing my ideas or helping out with small tasks. I believe that every little effort counts, and by doing my part, I can help create a better place for everyone. It’s not just about doing what’s right but also about building trust and strong relationships with the people around me. I want to grow into someone who’s not just responsible and productive but also genuinely cares about making a positive impact. That’s the kind of person I aspire to be in the future.

An experience that has had a significant impact on my life was when I injured my shoulder. I remember lying in bed, the sheets tangled around me like a suffocating shroud. It was a Tuesday, and everything was supposed to be regular: school, friends, a new episode of my favorite show queued on my phone. Instead, I was a prisoner in my bed, trapped by a stubborn, invisible enemy. That's when my shoulder injury became more than just a physical ailment. It became a pivotal turning point in my life.
At first, it was pure frustration. School became a struggle, a constant reminder of the limitations imposed by this irritating injury. The simple act of raising my arm to grab a textbook felt like hoisting a heavy rock. Sleeping was a nightmare. Every shift, every twist, was a jab of excruciating pain. I was a teenager, and suddenly, my body was working against me.
But as weeks stretched into months, something shifted within me. I started to see the world through a different lens. Suddenly, the small, seemingly insignificant struggles of others – the friend who tripped and scraped their knee, the classmate wincing after a long run – felt less like inconveniences and more like shared experiences. I could almost feel the sting in their joints, the frustration of being unable to do what they loved. The empathy I gained was nearly overwhelming.
With this empathy, a new understanding bloomed. Taking care of my physical health became more than a suggestion; it was necessary. I started eating healthier, prioritizing sleep, and even tried yoga, a practice focusing on my mind and body. It was more than just healing my injury. It was about prioritizing my well-being.
The pain, ironically, helped me to explore different avenues. The physical demands of my usual hobbies were suddenly out of the question. So, I turned to writing. It was a different kind of challenge. One that didn't involve the same strain on my body. I started scribbling notes, then full-fledged stories. My shoulder injury had become a canvas, and my pain was how I expressed my raw emotions. For the first time, I was connecting with a creative outlet in a meaningful way.
My ultimate goal is to create a positive impact on others beyond just my own experience. I want to collect stories of injury, not just from me but from others. I will raise funds to lend money to people who are facing financial difficulties while working on their recovery from similar injuries. Knowing the struggles from the inside, I'll tailor programs to help others find ways to cope both physically and mentally. I'll also teach injury prevention techniques, spreading awareness on maintaining a healthy body.
In closing, my shoulder injury wasn't a punishment. It was a catalyst. It taught me valuable lessons about empathy, resilience, and the importance of self-care. It was a detour, a redirection, a chance to find a new passion in writing and a way to return the favor to others facing similar struggles. It forced me to recognize my physical limitations, my struggles, and the power of connection and support. It was an unexpected gift disguised as pain, and I'm eager to use it to help others.

l was born in Towson, Maryland, and my diverse interests include bodybuilding, marketing, writing, and entrepreneurship, all of which have shaped my aspirations for the future.
I hope to positively impact society in two different ways through my work as a creative director. First and foremost, I will use my skills and experiences to foster healthier living among individuals and communities. I intend to motivate people to prioritize their well-being with innovative campaigns and content. By presenting information in an accessible manner, I aim to inspire positive actions—whether it is promoting physical fitness, balanced nutrition, or mental health awareness. This mission will drive my work as I seek to create visual narratives that resonate with different audiences, encouraging them to make healthier choices in their daily lives.
Driving societal change is an ambitious yet essential goal I hope to achieve throughout my career. Change often emerges from the collaboration of various sectors, and as a creative director, I plan to use this power. I will partner with schools, non-profits, and local businesses to spark initiatives that center on wellness and health education. These partnerships build a unified message that challenges the status quo. In addition, by highlighting success stories and showcasing the benefits of healthy lifestyles, I will make a narrative that motivates others to join the movement. Through campaigns that challenge harmful norms and celebrate positive change, I believe I will instill a culture that values health and wellness for all.
One fateful night, I experienced adversity. Suddenly, I felt an inexplicable loss of control over my right arm. It was as if my body had betrayed me, and I was suddenly unable to perform basic tasks. Writing became difficult. I found it nearly impossible to pen down my thoughts, as my letters splattered across the page in jumbled angles rather than neatly. Typing was no better. My fingers would either refuse to cooperate or strike the wrong keys.
This injury resulted in numerous visits to doctors, which caused me to miss many days of school. That, in turn, seriously hurt my academic performance. The gap in my education compounded my stress, leading to a vicious cycle where I felt overwhelmed and lagged in my studies. It also made me a target for bullying. Classmates would mock my inability to participate in activities or jokingly question my worth. It was painful and lonely.
My struggle wasn't just a physical one. It significantly affected my mental health, creating so many issues that I had to face each day. As someone who values exercising, this injury made me feel insecure about my body. In some moments of despair, I even found myself grappling with dark thoughts of suicide.
One month into my arm injury, I began attending physical therapy sessions. At first, the exercises felt overwhelming. Each movement was a reminder of my injury, and I often felt discouraged. However, with each session, I began to recognize how much stronger I was becoming. The physical therapists guided me through exercises that slowly became harder. While pushing through the discomfort, I felt a newfound appreciation for my body's capabilities. I learned to respect the limits of my injured arm while working hard to regain its strength.
This experience inspired me to approach my daily tasks more vigorously, understanding that consistency leads to great results. Whether it was academics, hobbies, or personal goals, I developed a mindset that I would give my best effort to everything I did.

l was born in Towson, Maryland, and my diverse interests include bodybuilding, marketing, writing, and entrepreneurship, all of which have shaped my aspirations for the future. As a high school senior teetering on the brink of adulthood, I often find myself lost in dreams of college life. My twin brother and I share these aspirations, but there’s a heavy weight on our hearts. Our incredible mother, a single parent, works tirelessly to support us, yet her earnings barely cover our needs. We watch her struggles, and it breaks us knowing that our futures hang in a delicate balance. In addition, we have had several home repairs and medical expenses this year, which make it even more challenging for my mother to pay for tuition.
I hope to positively impact society in a few different ways through my work as a creative director. First and foremost, I aspire to leverage my skills and experiences to foster healthier living among individuals and communities. I intend to motivate people to prioritize their well-being with innovative campaigns and engaging content. By presenting information in an accessible and appealing manner, I aim to inspire positive actions—whether it is promoting physical fitness, balanced nutrition, or mental health awareness. This mission will drive my work as I seek to create visual narratives that resonate with diverse audiences, empowering them to make healthier choices in their daily lives.
Access to information is crucial for individuals to make informed decisions regarding their health. Unfortunately, many communities still face barriers to obtaining vital health-related information. As a creative director, I will develop innovative platforms and media that transcend these barriers. I envision creating interactive websites, visually striking infographics, and engaging social media campaigns that are straightforward to navigate. By collaborating with health professionals and utilizing feedback from the communities I wish to serve, I will ensure that the information disseminated is accurate and reflects the unique preferences of my audiences. In this way, I will strive to transform the perception of health information from daunting to attainable, bridging gaps and building a more informed populace.
Driving societal change is an ambitious yet essential goal I hope to achieve throughout my career. Change often emerges from the collaboration of various sectors, and as a creative director, I plan to harness this power. I will strive to partner with schools, non-profits, and local businesses to spark initiatives that center on wellness and health education. These partnerships amplify outreach and create a unified message that challenges the status quo. Furthermore, by highlighting success stories and showcasing the benefits of healthy lifestyles, I aim to create a narrative that motivates others to join the movement. Through campaigns that challenge harmful norms and celebrate positive change, I believe I will instill a culture that values health and wellness for all.
Lastly, supporting local economies is integral to my vision as a creative director. Healthy living and local businesses go hand in hand, fostering community resilience. My campaigns will spotlight local producers, wellness programs, and health initiatives contributing to the local economy. By promoting farm-to-table practices, community gardens, and local fitness events, I aim to encourage residents to invest in their local ecosystems. These initiatives encourage personal health, strengthen community bonds, and stimulate economic growth. My commitment as a creative director will showcase the interconnectivity between health, lifestyle, and local economies, ensuring that my work contributes to a holistic vision of wellness that benefits people and communities alike. Through creativity and collaboration, I aspire to create a lasting impact on society, presenting health and well-being as essential components of sustainable living.

During my sophomore year in high school, my AVID class embarked on a career research project that would significantly influence my future. Each student was encouraged to explore various professions to understand what might resonate with our passions and interests. As I read through different career paths, I stumbled upon the position of creative director. Fascinated by the creativity and strategic thinking that goes into this role, I decided to learn more about marketing.
My passion for marketing led me to appreciate content creation and graphic design. I was particularly interested in how creative directors produce visual storytelling and campaigns that connect with audiences on an emotional level. Bringing an idea to life through innovative imagery and thoughtful messaging truly excited me. I immersed myself in understanding the principles of effective advertising, branding, and communication strategies.
This newfound love for marketing allowed me to explore my graphic design skills. I began creating posters for school events, designing social media graphics for my club, and even experimenting with video editing. Each project not only honed my technical abilities but also deepened my passion for creating engaging content that resonates with people. The thrill of promoting an idea or event and seeing a positive response from my peers reinforced my desire to pursue this career.
Over time, I realized that pursuing a career in the marketing field would not only align with my interests but also provide endless opportunities for creativity and innovation. I envision myself leading teams in brainstorming sessions, developing captivating campaigns, and ultimately contributing to a brand's identity. Blending my love for art and communication to influence consumer behavior means the world to me. This journey began in the AVID classroom, but it has paved the way for my aspirations and the path I hope to follow in the future.
