WinnerMy name is Micah Timmons and I will be a Gladewater High School graduate on May 29, 2026! I recently committed to playing college basketball at Richland College in Dallas, Texas in the fall of 2026. Richland College does not provide athletic scholarships, so I am working hard to earn scholarships to pay for school while being able to continue nurturing my passion for the game of basketball. Playing basketball at the college level will not allow me much time to work, and I want to be able to help my parents as much as I can with my tuition. As a teacher’s kid, I understand the importance of using the resources made available to me, and earning scholarships to help pay for college expenses to help my parents is important to me. I have three brothers, so earning this scholarship will mean being able to help my parents since they have my brothers to think about also.
Throughout high school, I have participated in many different activities, including Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Yearbook, varsity basketball, varsity track and field, and have volunteered at youth sports camps and Special Olympics events. I have worked two part-time jobs while attending school, being a flag football official and working as a cashier at Brookshires. I have also helped my grandfather this past year with making improvements to his home when I have the time to help. When I am not working or practicing, I enjoy hobbies including playing basketball and games with my brothers and learning about different types of animals, especially exotic animals and birds.
My future goals include becoming a wildlife biologist or zoologist and playing professional basketball overseas. I have a strong interest in studying and helping exotic animals in a rescue/rehabilitation setting, especially those who have been abandoned or abused by humans. Upon completing my college degree, if given the opportunity, I hope to play professional basketball overseas. I have a desire to travel and further my education with exotic animals outside of the United States, and being able to continue my passion for playing basketball while nurturing my passion to help animals would be a dream come true for me.
