I am a dedicated student-athlete pursuing a degree in business with a minor in sports management with the goal of becoming a leader in the sports and entrepreneurial world. As a committed basketball player, I’ve learned the value of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance all qualities I bring both to the court and the classroom. I strive to combine my passion for basketball with my interest in business to create opportunities for myself and others. Any scholarship would help me continue growing academically and athletically while working toward a future in business management and leadership. Thank you for your consideration, Mia Sostaric

Since I was a little girl I've always known about cancer considering the fact my aunt died at the age of 35 from breast cancer before I was born. My mom was really close with my aunt before she died, seeing that impact my moms life really made me understand the effect cancer has on my family and many other families across the world. Ever since I was young my family and I would always go to fundraisers including the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer walk. I remember always being so excited to go to such an amazing thing that brings people together from such a terrible disease. In 2018 my pap got diagnosed with CLL and in 2020 my grandma got diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. My family had a really hard time considering cancer killed my aunt and at such a young age. Both my gram and pap went through chemo. My family was really scared not knowing what would happen. Now they are both in remission. My aunt dying at such a young age has shown me and my family that life is short and to live it to the fullest. When my gram was diagnosed with cancer we went on a girls trip to Florida. I could tell that was the best week of my grandma's life. Seeing how hard my family has fought and won battles and seeing them fight and lose has shown me no matter if your old or young, sick or healthy you can live life to the fullest, and to always fight even when you are at your lowest because you never know the impact you have on someone else's life.
