Have you ever had to make a decision on what and where to spend your money? Was this one that you were able to make with ease? If not, you are not alone. Since enrolling in college and being on my own, I have found myself making these kinds of decisions very often. Sometimes it has been an easy decision, other times, not so much. I feel if I would have had some type of guidance such as a class in high school that taught me about the financial basics, I would have been better prepared to make more informed fiscal decisions. Growing up on the east side of Atlanta, I was fortunate enough to have parents who understood the importance of making sound financial decisions. They taught me how to budget and save for things I really want. For example, they stressed the importance of saving twenty percent of my paycheck to ensure that I always had funds for a rainy day or emergency. I realize that there are people who are less fortunate than I am, and do not have parents looking out for their best interest. Students in particular are not being taught how to spend, invest, and grow their money. There is a need for programming to help young adults make fiscal decisions before they get out in the world on their own. I plan on using my degree in business, to help mentor students in high school. In my opinion, as high school students, we were not properly prepared to handle simple financial matters. I would like to develop a program for teens that shines light on making healthy financial decisions. Another way I plan to use my degree Is to develop a wholesaling am financial advisement program for adults 25 and older. I want to help those who are already in the real world that may be overwhelmed with bills, debt, and kids. This would benefit every member of the community encompassing all races and ethnicities. I would explain the benefits and the importance of trust funds, life insurance, and medicare plans. Many people are unaware of how to manage their money when they are living, and especially how to designate it when they are no longer with us. IT is important to me to help people set up themselves and their families up with generational wealth. I believe this will help make their lives much easier. Having a positive impact on my community knows no age, race, or ethnicity. My parents have always told me that they want to give me better than what they had a din want to do the same for those around me.
