For most of my life, my mother has taken care of my brother and I. Living in a low-income household we had had to move several times throughout most of my childhood. My father only making an appearance every once in a while. My mother had a hard upbringing herself. This only urged her to make me and my brother live as good a life she can provide. My mother was never able to pursue own her goals. She always wanted to be a nurse. Yet, nobody around her has ever given her the motivation to go to college. Only saying that it would be a waste of time for her to go. After my brother and I were grown enough to take care of ourselves she took a semester. Scared out of her mind worrying if she was too old to be in college. She pushed anyway. Though my dad was there he was never someone I could depend on. The only thing he could give me is money. Never support or advice. Just paper. My mother has always been my biggest supporter. Sometimes I can't express how much I appreciate her. For dealing with me and taking care of me. She is the reason why I'm in college now. Two years ago, I didn't want to go to college. I didn't have any goals. And I wasn't sure what I wanted to do in life. Though my mother wanted me to at least experience some type of education, she understood. She never pushed me. She said if I didn't want to go college to then I shouldn't. That sentence only made me think about my life. How I wanted it to be. My mother always said it took a village to raise a child. We never had that village. Yet, she was able to be my village. She took on all the roles herself and made it look so easy. My mother encouraged me to take on different hobbies to find my interest. Taking dance classes and piano lessons. Which, I didn't mind but I wasn't really passionate about them. In my mother’s college, there was an internship for a TV network. She said I should sign up, so I did. I worked there in high school for two years. I got to explore and learn the world of media. How media is presented to us and how it's made. I enjoyed every part of that internship. That’s when I decided I wanted to go to college. I wanted to do something in that field. She was able to graduate the same year I graduated high school. I didn't realize when I was younger how hard she worked. Not only for me and my brother but for herself as well. She guided us to our success. My dedication and my ability to commit are what pushed me to graduate and enroll in college. And I'm going to own that label. Thanks, Mom.
