My name is Melat Legesse.I am a first-generation international student from Ethiopia, currently a sophomore at Pacific Lutheran University majoring in nursing. My journey from the vibrant landscapes of Ethiopia to the US has been fueled by a profound passion for healthcare and a deep-seated desire to make a tangible difference in people's lives. Growing up in a community where access to quality healthcare was often limited, I witnessed firsthand the transformative power of dedicated healthcare professionals. This inspired me to pursue a career in nursing, where I aspire to blend my cultural background with cutting-edge medical knowledge to provide compassionate and effective care to diverse populations. Beyond my academic pursuits, I like reading, immersing myself in literature that broadens my perspectives and deepens my understanding of the human condition. Playing card games has honed my strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Swimming not only keeps me physically fit but also serves as meditative practice. One of my greatest aspirations is to give back to my community. I am passionate about helping others achieve their educational goals and dream of one day being able to provide scholarships for students like me.
