I was able to financially obtain this degree by working Full-Time and with the FAFSA Pell Grants. I am beyond thankful for all the assistance that has made this possible. This year, in January, I relocated to California and am currently enrolled in Miracosta Community College's ADN program for Fall 2026. With this, I plan to apply to Point Loma Nazarene University in their concurrent ADN-BSN program. From there, I would love to advance my career as an NP or PA specializing in Pediatrics. But of course, this journey will not be cheap and easy. Which is why I am seeking Pell grants and scholarship assistance to help me reach this goal. I currently work full-time as an LVN in Private Duty Nursing and Part-Time at a Physical Therapy Clinic as a Medical Assistant, but the majority of this income is going towards personal bills and my parents. As my mother, who was unfortunately sent to the hospital for respiratory distress in the Philippines during a Cancer check-up, had experienced a cardiac arrest that lasted 18 minutes, causing extensive and permanent brain damage. This has left my mom in a semi-conscious state, requiring a ventilator and ADL assistance. She has been hospitalized since Aug of 2025, and with insurance issues, has left our family in an unfortunate financial situation. I want to continue helping my family financially as I advance my career. With that, applying to scholarships will allow me to do so. And more about me and where my interest in healthcare began, as someone who enjoys taking part in community service, I have a goal of giving back to the community that would utilize the education I have gained. I would love to create an organization that supports children who suffer from terminal illness. Support them in a way that helps them live life as any child should. From creating a personal connection by interacting with get well letters, arts and crafts, financial and toy donations, and much more. With this, I want to utilize my healthcare education to spread awareness of these conditions, as children have always been known to be the most resilient and are the future of our world. All in all, I know my educational journey will have its ups and downs, but I know that nothing comes easy, and we just have to continue looking forward and take things one step at a time. Hello! To whom may be reading this, Firstly, I would like to thank those who have contributed to this scholarship. These types of assistance are so helpful to others who wish to further their education without the added financial burden. When I was growing up, I never saw myself as someone to take education seriously or have a strong passion or interest in anything. But when I entered high school, I was exposed to so many different clubs and organizations. With that, I joined clubs that were mainly community-based. Along the way, I grew to love that rewarding feeling of helping my community, and eventually, this sparked my current passion for healthcare and becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. A few of the projects I have partaken in are founding a Guam Chapter Organization called "CancerKidsFirst Guam." Our goals and mission were to spread awareness by creating informative posts on the different types of terminal illnesses that affect children and posting them on our social media platforms. As well as creating get-well cards for children's hospitals and raising funds for different cancer organizations. Another project was the Teddy Bear Island Clinic. This event was amazing and nice to see the excitement and smiles on the family's faces. But the concept for this project was to allow children to become doctors for the day and complete tests and assessments on their teddy bears. The end goal was to help reduce white coat syndrome, which most kids have when entering a healthcare facility. A few other projects are The Miracle Project, where I was a volunteer and hosted Zoom sessions with Children from the St. Jude's Hospitals in Hyderabad & Jaipur, India. With each session, I would do a step-by-step tutorial on how to draw different objects or animals. An overall amazing experience. Lastly, I also served as a Volunteer/Graphic Designer for a youth non-profit called Teens for Health Care, where we were dedicated to informing students about the field of healthcare and medicine. We achieved this by hosting webinars, workshops, having Medical Professionals be guest speakers, and creating infographics with healthcare content. These were a few projects I took part in and would love to continue participating in more in the future. It truly does feel like a passion and my purpose in life. I want to utilize my passion for healthcare and volunteering to help others physically, mentally, and emotionally. Everyone's well-being matters, and I wish to improve that with every future patient I treat and person I help.

Secondly, when I think about selflessness, I see helping those in need without the need for anything in return. Just taking my time, skills, and effort to make a positive impact on those around me. Throughout my life, I have always valued this word and told myself to keep this value in mind with everything I do. Whether it was through community service, healthcare, or just supporting those who are going through a difficult time. I really found myself taking action in high school when I always sought to participate in different projects and organizations. One example is being able to start a Guam chapter of an organization called Cancer Kids First Guam. With this organization, we worked on spreading awareness about pediatric terminal illnesses by creating educational posts and sharing differnt resources to the community. As we gained some volunteers and saw others engage with our project has really shown how even small actions can create a big impact. And though I have graduated, I plan to begin a new and similar organization. I was to utilize the healthcare experience I acquired toward this organization so I can build a better understanding of the differnt conditions and find better ways to create an environment where children can live a normal childhood as much as possible while using the knowledge I obtain. Another experience I enjoyed volunteering for is the Teddy Bear Island Clinic. During this event, the kids were able to act as "doctors" for their teddy bears and perform assessments and common tests. The goal was to reduce the fear and anxiety that more kids associate with medical visits. Being able to watch them enjoy the entire experience and become more comfortable with the process, it has supported my goals of specializing in pediatrics. I was also allowed to volunteer at The Miracle Project, where I hosted virtual workshops with pediatric patients at St. Jude Children's Hospital in Hyderabad and Jaipur, India. In these sessions, I would guide the family and patients through arts and crafts activities. Seeing the smiles and joy it brought to the family and children shows how little effort it can be to show kindness to others and the impact it has. Overall, I hope to continue my aspirations in volunteering and helping others, as I really do enjoy the positive outcomes it has on others.

The definition of "enough" can only be determined by you and no other. Why: A lot of people, especially those who are closest to you will set expectations for you, bad or good, it tears the indidivual pride and thoughts about even if they can even do it. Setting these expectations and to show disappointment is a fairly common reaction to many and they need to understand that they dont get to set up your own standards except yourself. Which is why you get to determine your level of "enough."
