Ever since I was in sixth grade and slime became popular, I have wanted to start a business. While today I would like to start a different business that is no where close to slime, I have always dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur. I decided to major in business management to learn the ups and downs of being in the business field. I have been working part time since I turned 16 and continue to do so. I enjoy working with my coworkers as well as interacting with the customers I meet every time I work. They make the job worth it. There may be a few customers here and there that grind my gears but I truly love my job and what I do. I believe that everyone should experience working in customer service just for a short amount of time because it has changed me and helped me develop into a better person. I have grown to become more understanding and caring towards those that may be struggling. I will try to understand my customers when they just need someone to talk to. I will make jokes with the unhappy customers that are complaining about our prices. I will do anything I can to make sure our customers leave satisfied. When I first started college with the idea of starting my own business, I was torn between two options. Starting my own mechanics shop or starting my own bakery. I am still very torn between which to do because I love both fields. Why not do both? Maybe I could! Recently I have been interesting in studying real estate. I know that it may be a hit or miss industry but I get to work with people and I thrive in that environment. Studying business will also help me understand what they may be going through with their personal jobs and management. I hope to connect with people in a way that leaves them feeling heard. Overall, business has been something I have wanted to pursue for a while and I am glad to finally be doing so. I am excited to see what my future holds and all that I have in my future whether that be starting my own business, working in a company, or just doing my best. I hope to be around for my family and not be consumed by my job because I know how it feels to have a family member never around.

When my heart starts pounding and my breathing gets heavy I have to remind myself to stay grounded. I did not grow up with mental health advocates and I still struggle daily. However, my experiences have encouraged me to be sympathetic towards those around me. I do not know what they are going through or why they are acting the way they choose to, but I do know my actions can make a difference. I always try to be nice to those around me because someone is always going through something you know nothing about. I certainly hope that someone will have that same mentality when I am not in the proper headspace. Mental health is very important to me because I have been in a very bad place with no one around to help. I am now the friend that will answer my phone at the drop of a hat to talk. I am now the friend that says “call me if you need me.” I am now the friend that people rely on and know they can talk to with zero judgement. I will listen to your struggles and talk through them with you. I will give you advice or words of encouragement when you need them most. I will always be there for you when you need me even when I am struggling myself.
