I have faced a lot of challenges in my life, which have made me stronger than before. I have goals that I need to achieve in my career and I want to take control of my life. I need to put my fate in my control and work on being self-sufficient. I have plans to inspire young mothers and children because I know how it feels to be them and the things they go through. I can be their inspiration and motivation they need to soldier on. I aspire to own and run a successful medical spa to help change lives and provide quality services. From the success of my spa, I would like to one day be a donor on bold.org to fight students’ loan debts.
Over the years, I have become passionate about health since it is an important factor in human life. I believe that improving the health of the people around us is the most human thing I can do. I am also passionate about learning to develop new skills and knowledge every day.
The reason why I am a qualified candidate for a scholarship is that I am passionate about achieving my long-term goals. A scholarship would make an immense difference in my life, pave the way to reach these goals, and aid in the financial obstacles of being a mother and a student. I became a mother at 17 years old, and I have pushed through every obstacle on my way to where I am, and I am confident nothing will be stopping me now. I now have three boys who I am immensely proud of, and I want to show them no goals are too big. Becoming a Nurse Practitioner is a big dream that I am determined to achieve because, in my eyes, there is no other option.

Music can be one of the most essential and powerful aspects of anyone's life who enjoys listening to or playing music and understands its significance. I believe that the use of Music therapy through clinical and evidence-based interventions improve mood and reduce stress in an ill person. Music is an established treatment used for various disorders, including depression, cardiac diseases, and Alzheimer’s disease. In many occasions, Music therapy has proven effective in reducing pain in patients with chronic and acute pain. Pain relief in music therapy occurs by releasing endorphins – the body’s natural painkillers produced by the pituitary gland and hypothalamus. For people with chronic and acute illnesses such as cancer, listening to music allows them to have better control over their emotions. Music also improves the effectiveness of invasive procedures. In a controlled clinical trial for people undergoing knee surgery, those who listened to music reported less discomfort and pain.
Music reduces anxiety and stress levels for patients with mental health disorders. listening to music lowers cortisol levels and calms the nervous system, both of which reduce stress levels. Physicians and carers administer music therapy to distract the brain from stressors, thereby reducing emotions and improving mental health. Additionally, cancer patients find music helpful during treatment. Scholars have found that music is associated with reduced anxiety during radiotherapy and chemotherapy. It also prevents vomiting and nausea during chemotherapy, improving the patient’s health and wellbeing. Physicians use music therapy to treat patients recovering from traumatic brain injury or stroke. Because singing originates from the brain, listening to music helps manipulate thoughts and brings back old memories in the present life. It allows patients to forget disturbing and unpleasant thoughts and improves their speech ability.
Nursing is a rewarding profession that will allow me to care for and improve the lives of others in many ways. Many communities struggle with illnesses and conditions that affect their health and wellbeing. The high rate of premature deaths and high prevalence to diseases is a great challenge for many communities. The lack of clinical knowledge among the community members leads to unhealthy lifestyles and health habits that contribute to diseases. Becoming a nurse will allow me to advocate for health promotion in the community. I will be able to educate the public on preventive and protection measures against diseases and illnesses. As a result, the community will have a reduced risk of disease infection due to improved knowledge and awareness.
The increasing rate of diabetes and heart diseases is due to the lack of knowledge on healthy lifestyle behaviors. Educating the public is essential to reduce the risk of lifestyle disorders, which would reduce the mortality and morbidity rate in the community. As a nurse, giving back to the community will provide me with a sense of purpose, which is important for all aspiring nurses. Interacting with the community members and improving their lifestyles and health will prepare me to serve people in my future career.
Giving back to the community will allow me to develop important skills necessary in my nursing role. Dedicating time to help others will help me develop resilience, kindness, and patients. I will also improve my communication skills and cultural competency by working alongside a diverse group of people. These skills are necessary to improve public health in the nursing role. I will also have a better understanding of the community needs and existing health knowledge gaps. Nurses play an important role in society today and giving back to the community would be the best way to prepare me for my future nursing roles.
