Freedom of creative expression is not merely a privilege but the lifeblood of innovation, transformation, and progress. This cherished principle resonates deeply with me, as it has played a pivotal role in shaping my identity and aspirations. Through the lens of artistic exploration, I have come to understand the profound impact that creative expression can have on individuals, communities, and the world. Growing up, I was almost always surrounded by the arts. Whether it was my mother creating a new painting to be displayed in my childhood living room or my father working on an ornamental structure he came up with in his mind, I learned firsthand that creative expression is what brought my parents together. Art was their love language, and once I started making my own works of art, I knew art was a universal language that brings voices together. Through artistic exploration, I quickly realized how important creative expression is to me, my parents, and the world around us. Creative expression is recognizing where people have been and who they are. As an aspiring art historian/art educator, I have witnessed how the visual arts empower individuals to confront social issues and amplify marginalized voices. In a global context, freedom of creative expression is a beacon of hope for societies striving for progress and enlightenment. Artists who create works that question norms, challenge authority, and discuss hardships of any kind is to bring creatives together and speak our minds in our universal language. Having been influenced by my parents at a young age to create art, I have observed a world that allows me to use creative expression as my compass to navigate this world. This empowers me to help amplify artistic voices and challenge the realms of the art world.
