I love healthcare.
I have always been passionate about helping people during some of the most important and vulnerable moments in their lives. I am currently pursuing a career path toward becoming a physician specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology because I am deeply interested in women’s health and committed to making a positive impact in underserved communities.
My passion for healthcare comes from my desire to care for others with compassion, patience, and understanding. I believe that every patient deserves to feel heard, respected, and supported, especially in medical environments where they may feel nervous or overwhelmed. I want to be the kind of healthcare professional who not only treats medical needs but also builds trust and comfort with patients.
As a student at Florida Memorial University, I am working toward my educational goals while continuing to grow academically and personally. My journey has taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of staying focused on long term success even when challenges arise. I am committed to continuing my education and preparing for medical school so I can achieve my dream of becoming a physician.
I hope to use my future career in medicine to make a lasting impact by advocating for women’s health, improving healthcare access, and serving communities that need compassionate care. Ultimately, I want to be someone who helps others feel safe, supported, and valued while contributing positively to the field of healthcare.

Faith Through Every Setback
Faith has played the biggest role in shaping who I am today. It is the foundation of my life, my motivation, and the reason I continue pushing forward even during the hardest moments. Without faith, I truly do not believe I would still be here today. Throughout my life, I have faced challenges that tested my mental strength, confidence, and sense of purpose, but my faith continuously reminded me that my story was not over and that my struggles did not define my future.
At just sixteen years old, I graduated high school with big dreams of becoming an OB-GYN. I was ambitious, hopeful, and excited for the future ahead of me. However, as time passed, life became much more difficult than I expected. I struggled with depression, laziness, self-doubt, and even suicidal thoughts. There were moments when I felt completely lost and disconnected from the person I once dreamed of becoming. Academically, I experienced setbacks that deeply affected my confidence, including academic suspension. Watching myself fall behind my original graduating class made me feel embarrassed and disappointed in myself.
During those difficult years, faith became the one thing I could hold onto when everything else felt uncertain. Even when I doubted myself, I continued praying for strength, direction, and another chance to rebuild my future. My faith reminded me that setbacks are not permanent and that failure does not mean my purpose has disappeared. Instead of allowing my lowest moments to destroy me, I slowly began learning how to grow through them. As I approach twenty-one years old, I can honestly say I am becoming the woman I always prayed to be. I am more mature, focused, and determined to create a better future for myself despite my past mistakes.
One of the greatest blessings in my life has been my grandparents. They adopted me and became the support system I always needed. Throughout my academic journey, they have remained by my side encouraging me to keep going even when I wanted to give up on myself. Without their sacrifices, love, and guidance, I would not be in college today. They stepped into the role of guardians and provided me with stability, care, and motivation during some of the hardest moments of my life.
My grandparents never stopped believing in me, even during the times when I struggled to believe in myself. Their support pushed me to continue pursuing higher education and reminded me that my dreams were still worth fighting for. Knowing how much they sacrificed for me motivates me to work harder every day because I want to make them proud. I want them to see that their love and support truly changed my life.
My future goal of becoming an OB-GYN is deeply connected to both my faith and my life experiences. I want to help women feel heard, cared for, and respected, especially during vulnerable moments in their lives. I understand what it feels like to struggle mentally and emotionally, which is why compassion and empathy are qualities I hope to bring into my future career. I want to become the kind of doctor who not only treats patients medically but also makes them feel valued as people.
Although my journey has not been perfect, I no longer view my past as something that limits me. Falling behind academically does not define my intelligence, my worth, or my future success. My faith has taught me that growth often comes through adversity and that God can still create purpose from painful seasons. Every challenge I faced helped shape the stronger, wiser, and more determined person I am becoming today.
Without faith, I would have given up a long time ago. Instead, faith gave me hope when I felt hopeless, strength when I felt weak, and motivation when I wanted to quit. It continues to guide my academic journey and reminds me that no matter how many setbacks I experience, I still have the ability to succeed, graduate, and accomplish the dreams I once thought were impossible.

Finding Purpose Through Women’s Healthcare
My name is McKenzie Muldrow, and I am a 20-year-old transfer sophomore pursuing a future in healthcare with the goal of becoming an OB-GYN. My passion for women’s health comes from both personal experiences and my desire to create a more compassionate healthcare environment for women everywhere. I want women to feel comfortable, heard, and respected during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Too often, women’s pain and concerns are overlooked, and I hope to be part of changing that through empathy, advocacy, and quality care.
One of the biggest reasons I chose this career path comes from a traumatic personal experience involving women’s healthcare. That experience opened my eyes to how important it is for medical professionals to listen carefully and treat patients with understanding and compassion. It inspired me to bring more awareness to the importance of patient care in women’s health and motivated me to pursue a career where I can positively impact others during difficult moments in their lives.
My academic journey has not been perfect. I was never the typical student who fully applied myself or took scholarships seriously. At times, I struggled with motivation, discipline, and believing in my own potential. There were moments when I gave up on myself and felt like I was falling behind compared to others my age. However, as I approach 21, I have matured significantly and realized that I want more for my life and future. I no longer want my past mistakes to define me. Instead, I want to prove to myself that I can overcome setbacks, complete my education, and achieve the goals I once doubted were possible.
Receiving this scholarship would greatly help me continue my educational journey by easing the financial burden of my school expenses. As a student working toward a demanding medical career path, financial assistance would allow me to focus more on my studies and professional development instead of constantly worrying about tuition costs. More importantly, this scholarship would serve as encouragement that my dreams are still possible despite the obstacles I have faced.
I know success will require hard work, resilience, and dedication, but I am finally in a place where I truly believe in myself and my future. My goal is not only to graduate, but to make a lasting impact in women’s healthcare and become someone who helps patients feel seen, supported, and valued.

Shaped by Strength: Growing Up with a Single Mother
Growing up with a single mother has shaped me into the woman I am today. It has taught me independence, discipline, and the importance of building a life that I can sustain on my own. From an early age, I watched my mother carry every responsibility without hesitation. She worked, provided, and protected our household with strength that never asked for recognition. Because of her example, I learned that resilience is not optional it is a way of life.
Being raised in a single parent home meant that I had to grow up quickly. I learned how to solve problems on my own, manage my responsibilities, and stay focused even when things were difficult. There were moments when I wished for more support, but those same moments built my character. Instead of relying on others to figure things out for me, I developed the confidence to trust my own decisions. That independence has become one of my greatest strengths.
My mother has been my biggest inspiration. Watching her sacrifice her comfort for my future showed me what real love looks like. She never allowed challenges to define her or limit what she expected for me. Even on the hardest days, she still found a way to push forward. Because of her, I understand that success is not given it is earned through consistency, patience, and determination. I carry that mindset into everything I do.
Her example has also shaped my career goals. I am a career minded woman who wants to build stability and success through my own hard work. I aspire to enter a professional field where I can be financially independent and create opportunities for myself and others. My goal is not only to succeed, but to build a future where I do not have to depend on anyone else to define my worth or security. Instead, I want to rely on the skills, education, and discipline I have worked to develop.
While I value independence, I also understand the importance of support systems and meaningful relationships. However, my foundation remains the belief that I am capable of standing on my own. My mother taught me that strength does not mean never needing anyone it means being able to keep going no matter what.
Everything I am becoming is rooted in the lessons she has lived every day. Because of her, I am motivated, focused, and determined to create a future that reflects both of our sacrifices and strength.
