Living with ADHD since elementary school has been both a challenge and a journey of self-discovery. My experience with mental health has significantly shaped my beliefs, influenced my relationships, and guided my career aspirations. While ADHD presents obstacles in daily life, it has also given me unique strengths and insights that have influenced my perspective on resilience, empathy, and personal growth. Through my struggles and triumphs, I have learned the importance of self-acceptance, adaptability, and using my experiences to impact my personal and professional life positively. One of the most profound ways that ADHD has shaped me is by influencing my core beliefs. Growing up, I often struggled with focus, impulsivity, and maintaining organization. My family has helped me through a lot. These difficulties made traditional academic and social settings challenging. However, through these experiences, I firmly believed in perseverance and resilience. I learned that success is not about conforming to a standard path but finding strategies that work best for me. Over time, I realized that ADHD is not merely a disorder but a different way of thinking. This understanding led me to believe that diversity in cognitive function should be embraced rather than feared. I have developed a firm conviction that society should accommodate different learning styles and approaches rather than forcing individuals to fit into a single mold. This belief has inspired me to advocate for greater awareness and acceptance of neurodiversity, emphasizing that people with ADHD and other mental health conditions have valuable perspectives to offer. My ADHD has also played a significant role in shaping my relationships. On the one hand, it has presented challenges such as forgetfulness, impulsivity, and difficulty with sustained attention, which have sometimes led to misunderstandings or frustrations in friendships and family dynamics. I have had to work hard to develop strategies for improving communication, active listening, and time management to maintain healthy relationships. On the other hand, my experience with ADHD has also made me more empathetic and understanding toward others. Knowing what it feels like to struggle with aspects of daily life has given me a deeper appreciation for the challenges others face. I have learned the importance of patience and open-mindedness and extend the same level of understanding to others I hope to receive. Additionally, ADHD has shaped the way I seek out and maintain friendships. I am drawn to people who appreciate my energy, creativity, and enthusiasm. I have also learned to be more selective in my relationships, gravitating toward those who are supportive, patient, and willing to understand my unique way of navigating life. Through these experiences, I believe that the quality of relationships matters far more than the quantity. My journey with ADHD has also had a significant impact on my career aspirations. Growing up, I often felt frustrated by traditional academic structures that did not accommodate my learning style. However, I also discovered that ADHD gave me unique strengths, such as creativity, the ability to think outside the box, and a knack for problem-solving. These strengths have guided me toward career paths that embrace flexibility, innovation, and dynamic environments. One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that traditional career paths may not always align with my working style, and that’s okay. I have found that I thrive in environments where I can engage in stimulating and varied tasks. As a result, I have gravitated toward fields that value adaptability, creativity, and out-of-the-box thinking. Moreover, my experience with ADHD has given me a passion for advocating for mental health awareness in professional settings. I want to work in an environment that prioritizes inclusivity and accommodates diverse working styles. I also hope to contribute to workplace policies that support individuals with ADHD and other neurodivergent conditions. Whether through mentorship, advocacy, or direct involvement in creating inclusive policies, I aspire to make a difference in how workplaces support mental health. My experience with ADHD has profoundly shaped my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. It has taught me the importance of resilience, self-acceptance, and advocating for inclusivity. While ADHD presents challenges, it has also given me unique strengths that I have learned to embrace. Through my journey, I have believed in the value of neurodiversity, built meaningful relationships based on mutual understanding, and pursued career paths that align with my strengths and passions. Ultimately, my experiences with mental health have not only shaped who I am but have also motivated me to create a world where others with similar struggles can thrive and feel valued.

Resilience is a quality that has been deeply ingrained in my character, shaping who I am and how I approach life's challenges. The unwavering determination to persevere through adversity, the strength to weather life's storms, and the ability to emerge from challenges are more vital than before. My personal experiences have honed this resilience, and I am committed to leveraging my degree to uplift others from underrepresented communities. Growing up in a low-income neighborhood, I witnessed firsthand the disparities within underrepresented communities. The limited access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities for personal growth perpetuated a cycle of disadvantage. However, these challenges only fueled my determination to overcome them. I understood early on that education was the key to breaking free from these systemic barriers. My journey towards resilience began with a commitment to academic excellence. Despite financial hardships, I excelled in my studies through hard work and determination. I sought scholarships and part-time jobs to support my education, understanding that this path would pave the way to a better future. These experiences taught me that resilience isn't just about enduring difficulties but actively seeking solutions and taking control of one's destiny. As I pursued my degree in the medical field, I also engaged in volunteer work within underrepresented communities. These experiences deepened my understanding of individuals' challenges and underscored the importance of using my education to uplift others. Education, I realized, is a powerful catalyst for change, offering a way out of poverty and inequality. Upon earning my degree, I plan to utilize it as a tool for empowerment. Firstly, I aim to mentor and guide individuals from underrepresented communities, helping them navigate the complexities of academia and career development. I understand the importance of representation and its impact on someone's life, and I aspire to be a role model for those who may have had few opportunities. Secondly, I intend to engage in research, find cures, and be an advocate while focusing on addressing the systemic issues that perpetuate inequality in underrepresented communities. By contributing to policy discussions and working with organizations committed to social justice, I hope to bring about meaningful change. My degree will give me the knowledge and skills to advocate for equitable access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities. Moreover, I plan to establish scholarship programs and educational initiatives to support individuals from underrepresented backgrounds. These initiatives will aim to break down financial barriers and provide resources and mentorship to help them succeed academically and professionally. In conclusion, resilience has driven my journey, enabling me to overcome adversity and pursue a degree. Education is the key to uplifting underrepresented communities, and I am committed to using my degree to make a positive impact. Through mentoring, research, advocacy, and educational initiatives, I aim to empower individuals from underrepresented backgrounds to achieve their full potential and break free from the cycle of inequality. Resilience is not just a personal trait; it is a force for change, and I am determined to harness it for the betterment of society.

Please accept my apologies; I'm still a carnivore! I am slowly transitioning to make a healthy change. My parents are vegan; therefore, making the big decision to halt consumption is very important for me to make the big switch. Veganism is a lifestyle and dietary choice that eliminates the use of animal products for ethical, environmental, and health reasons. Please know that all these reasons are important to me. It involves refraining from consuming meat, dairy, eggs, and other animal-derived products. Of course, this is important to me, considering I'm only 18 years old. I would love to stop cold turkey; it takes time and is complex. In addition, vegans also typically avoid using products that involve animal exploitation, such as leather and fur. However, many may not foresee an issue with the fashion side of it. It's a slow process, but I'm very close to making the transition sooner than later. The impact of veganism on the future is a subject of debate and speculation by many people. There are many potential ways veganism could impact many people; to name a few, I will share a few. First, it's Ethical Considerations. Veganism is often motivated by ethical concerns about animal welfare and the treatment of animals in food and other industries. Second, it's Environmental Impact. Animal agriculture significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and water pollution. Third, it's Health and Wellness. A well-balanced vegan diet can provide essential nutrients and benefits, such as lower cholesterol levels and reduced risk of certain chronic diseases. Fourth, it's changes in the food industry. As veganism gains popularity, the food industry may respond by offering more plant-based options and alternatives, leading to increased innovation in food production and a shift in consumer preferences. Fifth, it's Cultural and Social Shifts. As veganism becomes more mainstream, societal attitudes toward animal consumption and animal rights may evolve. Sixth, it's Agricultural Land Use. The demand for animal agriculture requires vast land for raising livestock and growing animal feed. A shift towards plant-based diets could free up land for other uses or help reduce deforestation. Seventh, it's Economic Implications. The rise of veganism could impact various industries, such as agriculture and meat processing. Finally, it's Challenges and Trade-offs. While veganism has many potential benefits, there are challenges, such as ensuring balanced nutrition, addressing the needs of communities dependent on animal agriculture, and finding sustainable alternatives for specific products. It's important to note that the extent of these impacts will depend on various factors, including the rate of adoption of veganism, advancements in plant-based food technology, and the development of policies that support sustainable practices. The future will likely see a complex interplay of these factors and their effects on society, the environment, and the economy. I am determined to make a positive change sooner than later.

I believe I exemplify leadership in my everyday life, whether it is through my various volunteering activities or through my organization called "Project Cover the Crown." While I have volunteered over 200+ hours throughout my Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior school years, I have also spent time volunteering through my own organization. I am the founder and leader of "Project Cover the Crown," which I created to make a difference in my surrounding communities. In preparation for the winter months, I collect hats and scarves from the community, family, and friends to donate to the homeless and needy families. My goal is to bring awareness to the importance of keeping your head covered during the winter months. After collection, I then donate all items to a local charity named St. Vincent De Paul, Baton Rouge, LA. My leadership for this project has positively impacted the surrounding communities. I have gained a strong work ethic and a more profound sense of helping others. Over the years, I have also been given the opportunity to volunteer with my mother, whether it's through the Junior League of Baton Rouge or the East Baton Rouge school system. Over my high school years, I have been involved in many clubs, such as; the French Club, Film Club, Girls Who Code, and Yoga Club. I am also currently an ambassador for my school, St. Joseph's Academy. I find it essential to give back to the community and become involved in various activities, whether it's through dedicating my time to many different organizations, donating items to your local charity, or joining different organizations in your school. I find that volunteering has a way of bringing the community together and creating a safe and helpful environment. My passion for volunteering continues to grow through my various acts of volunteering. I believe that leadership is not limited to formal positions or titles but is shown through dedication and passion for what you care about. Through giving back to the community and engaging in different activities, I believe that I am positively impacting and influencing those around me, such as my family and friends. I am actively working on my self-improvement and improving my skills and knowledge, and hoping to help those around me do the same. I have recently been accepted into Louisana State University, which I am ultimately grateful for. This blessing allows me to continue to stay close to home and continue to give back to my community throughout the years.

My passion and commitment have always been to serve the communities surrounding me. I have volunteered over 300+ service hours throughout my freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years. While my school encourages us students to volunteer to better the community, volunteering gives us a chance to grow as a community and class. Over the years, I have also been given the opportunity to volunteer with my mother, whether it's through the Junior League of Baton Rouge or the East Baton Rouge school system. Since I can remember, I have always had a passion for volunteering, but my interest was first piqued when I visited New Orleans, LA, one year during the winter. During my visit, I noticed how many people were without basic necessities, and from then on, I strived to help out those in need and volunteer whenever I could. I am currently the founder and leader of my own organization, "Project Cover the Crown." In preparation for the winter months, I collect hats and scarves from the community, family, and friends to donate to homeless and needy families. My primary mission is to bring awareness to the importance of covering your head during the winter. After collecting all the items, I donate them to a local charity St. Vincent de Paul, Baton Rouge, LA. Most individuals don't realize that those that are without a home and living on the street are left without many resources and necessities. I believe that my leadership for this project has and will continue to positively impact the communities surrounding me. Throughout my time in college, I will continue giving my time and resources to help those in need and continue volunteering in surrounding communities. I believe that community service plays a huge part in bettering communities and society as a whole. While community service and disaster relief do ultimately help out those around us, it also creates a safe and open environment so those that want to help feel welcome to reach out. I have gained a strong work ethic and a more profound sense of helping others throughout my time volunteering, and I hope that over time I can continue to encourage those around me to help out those in need. In the end, I am glad that I became interested in disaster relief and volunteer work since it has allowed me to provide my time and resources to others in need over the years.

I have many unique talents and attributes, whether it's my strong work ethic, passion for helping those around me, or even playing the violin. I am currently an Ambassador at my school, St. Joseph's Academy, and a part of my school's Film, Girls Who Code, Red Sticker Society, Yoga, and French club. I am also a member of the Youth Ministry at Greater Sixty Aid Baptist Church. I have volunteered over 250+ service hours throughout my freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years. Over the years, I have also been given the opportunity to volunteer with my mother, whether it's through the Junior League of Baton Rouge or the East Baton Rouge school system. My strong passion for volunteering has always influenced me to encourage my friends and family to start volunteering. It has always been important to me to lead by example and encourage others to get involved. There are many ways I have been able to influence change in surrounding communities: by getting involved, raising awareness, supporting local organizations, and being an example. My passion and commitment are to serving the community. I am the founder and leader of my own organization, "Project Cover the Crown." I have shown others that making a difference is possible and inspired them to take action in the communities surrounding us. It is important to remember to stay informed about local and national events and developments and be ready to act when opportunities arise. Knowing that you have the chance to help those around you, whether it may be helping your elderly neighbor get their mail or even donating to your local shelters. The feeling of knowing that your action has helped those around you will forever be rewarding. Throughout my years in college, I will continue to volunteer in my surrounding communities and give back to my communities, whether it's through my organization or just regular donations.

My project has had many positive impacts on the communities surrounding me. Through my years of volunteering, I have gained a strong work ethic and a more profound sense of helping others. If I had the money and resources to create my own business that collects winter supplies to help the homeless and needy stay warm during the winter months. Starting this business would ultimately benefit the homeless throughout the years. Many individuals living on the streets have been seen struggling to keep warm and have suitable clothing options during the winter months. I would first start with educating the public about the issues faced by the homeless community and the impact of providing supplies and go on to encourage community members to get involved and support the program through volunteering, donations, or other means. After, I would start partnering with local organizations and charities that serve the homeless communities, and that can help ensure that resources are effectively distributed. These organizations can have excellent knowledge about the community's needs and will be able to help with the distribution of supplies. After the assessments and partnerships, I will then go on to identify the essential supplies that the homeless community needs. These supplies will include items such as sweater hats, scarves, sweaters, sweatpants, and hat mittens. Once the essential supplies have been identified, I can use the funding to purchase the supplies in bulk while also using the donations from the communities around. The local organizations I have partnered with will be able to help me distribute the supplies to homeless individuals, either through direct distribution or by providing supplies to existing homeless shelters. After donations, I will regularly monitor and evaluate the impact of the distribution and collect feedback from the homeless community and adjust the program as needed to ensure it continues to meet their needs. Over time I will continue to implement to ensure the long-term sustainability of the program by continuing to seek out ongoing funding sources, building solid partnerships with local organizations, and evaluating the program while making improvements. The key is to work closely with the community and local organizations to ensure that the program is effective and addresses the most pressing needs of the homeless population while spreading awareness about the importance of volunteering and donating.

I visited New Orleans during my freshman year of high school and was struck with a huge reality check. While driving around, I noticed how many impoverished individuals were throughout the city. Most people don't focus on emotional and mental health topics, and while some don't focus on them, others don't believe in them. The pressure of completing work and having every detail correct can sometimes be overwhelming throughout the school year. I have learned to take a step back sometimes and give myself a break. Taking breaks when you may be feeling overwhelmed can be very beneficial. One healthy habit I have also been thinking about adopting to manage my mental and emotional health in school is practicing mindfulness and meditation. Mindfulness and meditation have been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and increase self-awareness, which are all critical for maintaining good mental and emotional health. While I have come up with many plans to better my mental health, completing them can sometimes be challenging. Taking a break or relaxing can often make me feel like I'm a failure or lazy. When taking the steps, I am often hit with negative thoughts and beating myself up, but overall I have started to realize this is something I need to do. I know that I must continue to strive towards creating healthy habits that ultimately benefit me. I believe I am highly educated about the dangers that could come from poor mental or emotional health. Over the years and through the pandemic, I have seen some of my relatives and friends suffer from either depression or anxiety. It is important to remember that creating a safe space for mental and emotional health is an ongoing process that requires constant effort and care. Creating a safe space for friends to manage their mental and emotional health can involve several steps. It is imperative to encourage open and honest communication about mental health and emotional well-being while also providing resources, such as information whether it's about counseling services or support groups. Another important way to create a safe space is to have a non-judgmental and supportive environment between friends. When talking to my friends about sensitive topics such as these, it is essential to make them feel comfortable. It is also important to be a good listener and always provide emotional support to those in need. I always tell my friends that I am here if they need me and consistently let them know that they have my undivided support. Dealing with emotional and mental struggles can be challenging for some individuals, but with the right help, they can overcome the struggles they may be facing.
