WinnerBio
I attended North Atlanta High School for all four years of my high school career and have lived in Atlanta my entire life. I hope to expand on my education and major in either business or engineering depending on where I attend school. I also plan on potentially attending law school after completing my undergraduate studies. I am a great candidate for scholarships as I have always focused on school and learning and plan on gaining as much as possible from higher education. I hope one day to be able to forward the financial help I may receive to attend college to future generations.

WinnerWith my seemingly short time here, despite how old I feel, I have become enamored with various cultures and places. This has led to me volunteering in wildly different places but with the hope of benefiting others. Operation Feed, an organization I have volunteered for since its conception, is one that helps people here in Atlanta by distributing food with the help of donations. Another organization I have helped is the red sweater project which helps provide a better education to children in Tanzania.
Operation Feed has been a great addition in bringing parts of Atlanta closer together and has been more than beneficial to my development through adolescence. It has not only helped me be more proactive but made me better at helping. I have always had the urge to help others just not necessarily the knowledge and manner in which to best do so. For these reasons I believe I have stood to gain more from Operation Feed than anything I can contribute. With that being said my main contributions to Operation Feed were when the organization was first coming around and making an impact in the community. This was when the COVID pandemic was impacting everyone and most of all economically. This would result in myself and others transporting food, handing out food and clothes, and also distributing food door to door. These would sometimes culminate in events bringing many people together enhancing relations in the Atlanta community and was a sight to see.
The Red Sweater Project was another situation that I gained more from than I could ever express or repay. I was fortunate enough to go to Tanzania on a leadership project and work with children who attend the Mungere School in Mto Wa Mbu, Tanzania. We replenished nutrients to the gardens the school uses to make lunch for the students and learned just how similar people were across the world in wildly different situations and lessons of gratitude, agriculture, life, and outlook on life. The gardens is likely still using the nutrients we were able to provide and the school is able to feed its students in a sustainable way as a result. But I hope to have made a lasting impact on at least one student to the same extent that each one of the students had on me. Although I don’t know if that is plausible.
I hope to continue working to make my community and other communities a better place as I grow older. I believe that each time I work to aid the community it has a greater impact on myself than I can ever return. Therefore I wish to make an impact in my college’s community both with that of the student body and the town as a whole. I also wish to continue working to better the community post graduation whether that be as the result of an occupation, philanthropy, volunteering, or even creating a nonprofit to fill a need in the community.
