Bio

First Generation Student Undergraduate student One goal of mine is to be able to afford to attend college without having to worry about finances or having to use loans. To do so, I have decided to use scholarships to my advantage. Scholarships can be seen as extra work but it is work I am willing to put in to fund my education. As someone who has always had to apply for them in high school, I understand the time and importance it takes to find exceptional scholarships and the work it takes to fill them out. For me, all it is is an extra step in pursuing an education. I know in the end it will be an extra accomplishment and all my hard work will be paid off.

From a young age, my mother has always taught me that the only lasting things she could give me were her love and the opportunity of going to school. During high school, I attended a private and mostly all-white girl school, from the beginning I felt outcasted, mostly because other girls had received a better and more advanced education during middle school than I did. I struggled to understand certain subjects such as Algebra and some sciences. My grades slipped and I had lost my motivation to be a superior student. During my junior and senior years, I realized that even if I did not receive the best education before high school, it was not an excuse for me to stop trying. I collected myself and worked hard to raise my grades because I realized that I wanted to go to college. It was a challenge because it felt like I had fallen so far behind that I wouldn't be where my classmates were. My parents have always been a motivation for me to be passionate about my education. They were always supportive of me despite the challenges I had faced in high school. I am passionate about receiving my education because I have always been taught that I can make a better future for myself with an education. Education brings many opportunities for students but without motivation, we do not have the energy to pursue it. I hope to receive higher education in order to put all my parent's hard work into raising me to pay off. My parent's have always told me that even if they can never leave me riches or materialistic things, they can always leave me an opportunity to educate and to be able to provide for myself in the future. They never want to see me not be able to provide for myself or having to be cared for by someone else. It's always better to have my own way to care for myself rather than being kept on a leash when it comes to things I need. I want to be able to grow into the independent, and intelligent woman they have always wanted me to be. After receiving my degree(s), I hope to be able to provide for my parents and care for them as they did to me after many years as a way of thanking them and proving all their efforts.

During high school, I attended a private and mostly all-white girl school, from the beginning I felt outcasted, mostly because other girls had received a better and more advanced education during middle school than I did. I struggled to understand certain subjects such as Algebra and some sciences. I had lost my motivation to be a superior student. Instead of pushing myself to do my best, I allowed myself to let my grades slip and only do enough to have a passing grade. My junior and senior years, I realized that even if I did not receive the best education before high school, it was not an excuse for me to stop trying. I collected myself and worked hard to raise my grades because I realized that I wanted to go to college. It was a challenge because it felt like I had fallen so far behind that I wouldn't be where my classmates were. I managed to get myself into college, but I was not prepared for all the money that was needed to attend college. I recently got a job to help pay for college but it's nowhere near enough for me to reach the full payment needed. As a person of color and a first-generation student, I do not have other family members who have attended college, therefore I had to figure out what I needed for college without an example to follow. There also is not a lot of representation in certain careers, like doctors, lawyers, or scientists. Being the first in my family to graduate high school and attend college is already a first accomplishment in my family. In pursuing a higher education, I hope to become an example to other students like me, including my siblings. I want to use my education to let other students know that no matter where they come from, they can pursue the education and career they want. Education brings many opportunities in one's life. With the education and opportunities I receive, I hope to give opportunities to underrepresented students.

I deserve this scholarship because I just want more to carelessly spend without spending any of my own. I deserve it because time is money and without money I have no time to have fun. I plan on moving to the Bahamas and taking my private jet with me. No goals other than to lay and mess around all day everyday. Only goals I have while I'm there is to learn how to surf and eventually surf using a shark as a board. One time I left a store without paying for something, so the security chased me around for days until I decided to move to Venice and the only reason he couldn't follow was because he didn't have his passport on hand. Somehow I have managed to survive here for months but am slowly running out of money so now I need to acquire more by any means necessary. So help a girl out please!
