Maya Roseboro is a nationally recognized scholar, leader, and advocate. As a 2025 Coca-Cola Scholar, UNCF STEM Scholar, World Science Scholar, Junior Academy of Science Fellow, NCSSM Online Alumni Scholar, Wilmington Road Runners Club Scholar, International Girls Ambition and Achievement Scholar, Duke A.B. Scholar, and Morehead Cain Finalist, Maya has earned distinction for her academic excellence and research. During high school, Maya served as President of the Student Government Association and the National Honor Society, launched the Student Engagement Team’s first website, and was a liaison for the Women’s Empowerment through Education club. She excelled in STEM as a varsity Science Olympiad member and executive assistant, math competition leader, and mentor with the Science Fair Academy. Her research experience spans the Wang and Taylor Labs, UNC Charlotte’s Ethical Data Science group, and a Boston internship, with presentations at state and international competitions such as Genes in Space and the North Carolina International Science Challenge. Maya also founded the Special Olympics Eastern NC Youth Activation Committee, contributed to the Generation Unified app, and advocated for inclusion at national forums. A Governor’s School alumna in Visual Arts and Natural Science and an accomplished athlete invited to the USATF Junior Olympics, Maya exemplifies the power of curiosity, leadership, and service. She is committed to advancing biomedical engineering and inspiring others to pursue their passions with purpose.
